It's been a minute, folks - hope all is well.

Been missing out on TC coverage - how's Cooks looking?

Front seven seem promising.

Our secondary sounds got damn Scrappy and hungry. Sounds like a lot of their success today might be because a lot of the WR's are banged up, but Butler blanketing Cooks is always an awesome thing to hear.

Brady had an off day - the reviewers seem to be at "fault" for that (looming injuries).

Let's hope they're temporary and we get the stiffness pour early season so the boys are primed for mid/late season when the track gets rough.

"Hello, Dwight Freeney's agent?"

All we would need out of him too is 30-40% snaps on passing downs and maybe teach a thing or two to the kids. So what he's not BB's ideal style of pass rusher. We barely have any true 4-3 DEs.

Might be the weakest position on the Patriots...but geez, that's a high bar!
No way.
We play 2 LB 80% of the time and the top 2 are a super stud and a very good veteran. The guys available for back up and the other 20% can play.

some interesting bits from Blogservations:
Blogservations Day 6: Attrition setting in

Pats have new LS!
-- When Joe Cardona missed the first two practices of camp and Ninkovich was nowhere to be found, there was a question as to who might fill in as long snapper. While the Patriots chose not to do any kicking on those days, we may have gotten our answer on Wednesday. James Develin took a couple of reps during a punting period, sending a pair of accurate snaps back to Ryan Allen. Develin later said he was the backup to Giants long snapper Zak DeOssie while in college at Brown.

OL shuffles confirm Karras as top all-IOL backup and Fleming top swing T
-- During the first team period of 11-on-11s, the offensive line featured some wrinkles. After starting with the normal cast of characters, Ted Karras replaced Shaq Mason at right guard on the second play while Cam Fleming entered at left tackle with Nate Solder moving to the extra tight end sot. Solder then sat out the next play – as he would in game conditions after serving as an eligible receiver – while Karras moved to center for David Andrews and Mason returned. On the following play, Karras replaced Joe Thuney at left guard while Andrews returned.

Wise and Langi rushing
-- Defensively, Wise and fellow rookie Harvey Langi continue to see time with front line players. Wise got plenty of reps at left defensive end opposite Trey Flowers, a spot Grissom manned earlier in camp. He also got a lot of reps as an interior rusher in sub sets. Langi joined Kyle Van Noy and Shea McClellin at linebacker with Van Noy working in the middle. Langi spent most his time rushing the passer with varying levels of success.

Adam Butler shadowing last yrs Anthony Johnson
-- Rookie defensive tackle Adam Butler also continues to get some run early in camp. He worked as part of the sub defense as an interior rusher on a number of occasions. There were also some sub looks where Flowers worked as a standup rusher from the inside while Wise took his spot at right defensive end.

TE Allen injury alert
-- Tight end Dwayne Allen is another player who appears to be fighting through some discomfort. He hasn’t missed any time but often receives extra stretching and attention from the training staff. That was the case on Wednesday again, but he didn’t miss any reps.

Because its ST
-There was some plus-50 punting for Allen to close out practice and there were signs of the Patriots attention to detail during the drill. One kick saw D.J. Fosterleap to keep the ball out of the end zone. Edelman was back to receive the punt and was close by as it landed at the 1. Since Foster had touched the ball it was great awareness by Edelman because the ball remains live and there’s no danger of a fumble since it was already illegally touched by the punting team. So, Edelman can return it without fear of a turnover.

Just my reaction in general any time a Patriot player gets an injury during camp.. you see it all over NFL.com, etc all across the league teams are losing guys

Really hope everyone can remain healthy and we as fans get to see the full roster hitting it on cylinders

Edelman
Amendola
Dion Lewis
Gronk
Hightower
Slater
Mitchell
Hogan
Solder

Should all be benched/inactive for all of pre season imo

That is not how it works. Football players play football. That does not mean that they have to play all game or 50 snaps, but they need to take snaps and go though halftime and prepare just like a regular game.

Gronk never plays pre season so might as well make some of the other vets inactive as well along with the ones that we should'nt risk during pre season (Hightower, Edelman, Hogan) let the new comers/rookies get the extra pre season reps

Freeny had a nice sack in the Super Bowl, which was a drastic change for him. Why? He had zero sacks in January, zero sacks in December, zero sacks in November... Kind of a trend. ALL WASHED UP.

That's how you end up a loser. Take a hint from Bill. Football players play football.

It's exhibition season. Its near-complete lack of importance is pretty obviously demonstrated by what happens in weeks one and four.

I'm not too concerned with your eye test on Cooks...we're how many days in....competition...
Just noting what I saw. I'm sure he'll be fine in this offense. But people should know that he's in an offense where on most pass plays there is going to be at least 3-4 other very good options. So, at least in my mind, Cooks can have 50 receptions for 850 yd/5TD's and STILL have an impactful year on this offense. In other words he doesn't have to be the leading receiver, he just have to "do his job" and open up opportunities for himself and other receivers.

What I worry about is that the media and some fans will start to get on the kid regardless of how the offense is doing, IF he isn't putting up pro bowl WR numbers. The fact is simply he doesn't need to do that to be an effective part of the offense (as long as everyone else is doing their jobs) Other guys numbers might go down as well. There is only one ball and as we know lots of good options.
