2017 Draft Prospect Thread

There's no doubt Rivers is a good player, I just think he's a departure is all. Even Mark Anderson was 255lb and he seems like the closest fit the Pats have had to Rivers in a long time. I wouldn't object to a pass rushing specialist however.

As for the article, I'm in a 'just sit back and enjoy the first two rounds mode' atm. That would change with a Butler/JG trade naturally. The news about Charles Harris (top 15), Jamil Adams (might slip) and Jordan Willis (first rounder) was the most interesting to me.

Two thoughts.

1. Have been thinking about Patchick's annual draft game today and who my guesses would be. There are two factors that could seriously affect the choices though. A) If we sign Blount before the draft, that would affect taking a RB in the draft. 2) If we sign Jason McCourty, then I'd take CB off the board.

2. With so few numbers on a potential 90 man roster, I'm really looking forward to 'day 4' of the draft, the UDFA signings. I really enjoy that anyway but the potential to sign quite a few and the depth of the draft, it could be even more potent this year.

Was just talking about that. Day 4 will be pretty cool this year.

This kid - Jamal Agnew - would be an interesting UDFA addition to Pats TC.
5’10, 186, 4.34/6.92/4.27 .. 4 year starter

Small school but such great attitude (tough, smart, aggressive, confident, competitive). No film so just highlights available:

Could this be Pats next 23?
Jonathan Ford
5’11, 205, 4.34-38 (at ProDay) BP:22 - didn't do other drills due to ankle injury
changed positions three times in college from RB to S to slot CB.
He shined for two years at S and struggled a bit as slot CB last year.
But he just looks like a great defensive player . with KR experience as well.

He's a menace playing downhill and close to the box but despite his speed he struggled a bit at new position as slot CB - playing with SS mentality.

Here some footage:
highlights:

from 2015 @S:

and from 2016 @CB on Joshua Holsey film (look at #23)

BTW - Joshua Holsey is a nice DB prospect in his own right (CB/FS).
You can watch more from both on Lawson and Adams clips..

Strange how most boards don't have Ford drafted at all.
Id give a pick for this guy any day of the week - even a mid rounder.

Join the Ford / Holsey bandwagon! They're good. I called Ford the glue of the Auburn secondary in my big board post. Great player with ST value.

As for this post, well, meh. I was hoping we could sign Stewart as an UDFA. At least we're looking at Samson, so that makes me very happy. He is my Reddick replacement, and might be more suited to our scheme anyway. Much better value, though less polished.

I think Samson would a menace on S/T's to begin with.

Anyone else like Howard Wilson? Would love to pick him up in the 4th round.

Might be my favourite corner in terms of value.

He was one of my favorites, too, until the bizarre events surrounding his pro day. Now I'm scared off.

Wilson, Langley, Likely, Borders are all guys I'd take on shot on.

Surprised no no one talks about Likely?

2-3 inches taller hes a top 50-60 guy.

Eric Galko says that Daeshon Hall is a second round lock and could go top 50.

Huh. His measurables say he has that kind of potential, but most of the rankings and mocks I've seen have him lasting well into the 4th. If he does go that high, I hope he pushes down someone else to us at least. I wouldn't mind adding him at 96 or later, but I think he needs a year or two before he becomes a starter.

Although I'm not sure what this is based upon because a 7.71 3-cone and 4.72 shuttle isn't that impressive

I do think the NFL values size, speed, length and strength more than people tend to think. I'd be very surprised if he goes top 50 but I've though for a while we needed to take him in the 3rd if we wanted him.

They're better than average at his position, though, and maybe most guys his size don't have a decent showing in both drills. Holden is one of the guys I've had my eye on for a few months now. He would be an ideal swing tackle this year, and I think he has starter upside.

Shorter arms than the Patriots prefer but, of course, BB was at the Vanderbilt pro day and Ramczyk, who they had in for a visit, has similarly lengthed arms (both in the 33" range).

Notice that two of players in Solder and Vollmer have been selected high in the draft by the Patriots.

Also, interesting are the Patriots on the following list by Justis Mosqueda (when talking about Budda Baker), especially the last one:

Just some food for thought, since I'm feeling a bit troll-like. ;)

Baker:

Height: 5095
Weight: 195
40 Yrd Dash: 4.45
20 Yrd Dash:
10 Yrd Dash:
225 Lb. Bench Reps:
15
Vertical Jump: 32 1/2
Broad Jump: 09'06"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.08
3-Cone Drill: 6.76

Player on our roster:

Height: 5097
Weight: 197
40 Yrd Dash: 4.49
20 Yrd Dash: 2.62
10 Yrd Dash: 1.55
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 10
Vertical Jump: 33
Broad Jump: 09'08"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.21
3-Cone Drill: 6.71

Each had 5 interceptions and 18 passes defended in college, but our guy did it in two years instead of three.
