Patriots Player Departure Patriots are sending WR Kayshon Boutte to the Texans for safety Jaylen Reed and a draft pick

Because for months some people have said they would rather have Boutte over ****ing AJ Brown so when they see how much value he truly had they spiral.
Boutte truthers having a meltdown right now.

I precisely gave them the trade compensation months ago. And like magic, here we are.

A 3rd or 4th was never happening, it was the stuff of fantasyland.

We should have gotten back at least an EDGE Player from Houston: they have like a hundred.
This is what annoys me. S wasn’t high on my list of swap logic. But I’m not in the coaches room.

Boutte is a good wide receiver. We have a couple very good wide receivers and a bunch of good wide receivers. We are only carrying 6 wide receivers, so some of the good wide receivers are going to be cut. That doesn't make Boutte a bad wide receiver, just the team likes the others better.

Stingly is happy that he won't get burned for long TDs against Booty. I am super disappointed in this trade

I think "burned" is being tossed around a little liberally here....yes he made two TD catches on Stingly, but Stingly was right there both times, KB just made tough contested catches.....this isn't Moss throwing his hand up as he leaves the line.....this isn't even Williams's TD the other night where he got vertical separation on his receiver .

Boutte wasn’t getting re-signed and Williams’ skill set is a better fit as a complementary WR to Brown & Doubs IMO. Douglas & Williams have to perform now though.
I agree - Williams can step into Bourne's role as another deep WR (for which Brown is by far the lead)

I liked Bourne but his YAC was awful, showing that he doesn't get good separation, and that will always hold him back.

That’s my only worry here. That they may be right on Boutte overall but wrong in how important Drake’s trust was
It is important. I remember the Buffalo game, probably our biggest win all season. Diggs had the huge game but it was Boutte who Maye went to in the clinching situation. And Boutte who had the brain to fall in bounds, kill clock. Most receivers have rocks for heads.

Maye trusted him, repeatedly since his rookie season.

FYI Boutte last year was 72nd in total WR yards. (Tied 72nd) and 76th in YPG. the year before he was 71st in total yards and 78th in YPG. So he is a #3 WR.. and he had every chance to get a lot more. But this is the most could do getting a prominent role.

The idea he is a 2nd is just not backed up. And keep in mind the Pats had the 4th most passing yards last year and he* had every chance to get more yards. He didn't.

You have no right using facts and data to override the emotionally weak idiots having tantrums. You are a sick, sick man.

Hey, did you know we picked up AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs in the offseason?

Ron Wolf's kid sure took it in the Boutte on this trade.
That said, still better than Wolf's rounds 2-7 in the 2024 draft.

We care going to need more than 10 Catches from KW now also Boutte was a better Route Runner.

I don't hate the trade
I wish it were Hollins or Pop, as I think Boutte is the better WR. (I also think Boutte has been better than Doubs)
that said, this might tell us a few things;

Schooler is more injured than we know
The team doesn't like their depth behind Byard and Woodson and view Reed as an upgrade.
The team really likes DeGennaro and Chism, and believes Williams can produce something this season.

I still have big concerns Brown will want a new deal for top 5-8 money
I still have some concerns that Doubs was the 4th option in GB and they allowed him to leave while signing Watson ($90m) and Reed ($50m) to big deals

Williams burned that 3rd stringer in the preseason game. Wasn’t that super awesome?

I have a lot of faith in Wolf and his scout acumen. the past 2 seasons he has arguably had the 2 top 5 off seasons in the league.
Certainly willing to get Reed in and see how he looks

Kyle Williams sucks and can’t do anything besides an occasional deep ball. Did I miss something other than his 5 or 6 catches last season? Lol
You might be right, but you might not be.
Williams would have had 150+ yards and a couple TD's if the QB had time or saw him more last game.

Boutte is gone after this year. People may say they'd rather have him than Doubs but they signed Doubs. Williams has several years left.

Boutte had 7 targets and 2 receptions as a rookie. Williams had 21 targets and 10 receptions.

For this year it's entirely possible Boutte would have outplayed Williams, but they invested in Williams, this is how you run a team, you draft and replace. We shall see how it plays out.

Very curious how Boutte does without Drake Maye, going from the best deep ball thrower in the league to one or the worst.

Reed was a 6th round pick. Right about where I said the compensation would be. The Texans have to pay Boutte if they want to keep him. I’d have preferred the pick but if Reed becomes a player it’s a solid deal.

Edit: just saw the added 7th pick in 2028. Good trade.

I could see Reed as a big nickel/dime type player. Not much smaller than Khalil Jacobs, but faster.

it will be interesting to see what Pop does this year because I think that if he has a similar season as last year, he won’t be on the team next year also.

I think the Patriots would be perfectly fine playing Chism on the last year of his UDFA contract instead of paying Pop.

He was a rookie in the EP, you idiot.
