Tomlin makes 9.. Wonder what happens to McDermott if he and the Bills choke in Denver...

I imagine the media will be breaking down his door.

You think they'd want him? I never thought that Tomlin was all that bright to be able to handle verbalizing play breakdowns on the fly. I can't even see him in a studio setting, honestly. Not with that personality..

Not as a knowledgeable analyst, but as a personality.

Anyone else thinking that he did not step down voluntarily?

imo, the Rooneys told him it was time... Gave him the option to step down instead of firing him...

The steelers maintained a level of success over the years, but that will take you only so far... haven't won a playoff game in what, a decade?

He lasted way longer than I thought after his claim to fame in Minnesota being the two immovable Williams DT's. Remember the MNF game where the Pats didn't bother running on them and just threw the entire time? Tom shredded Tomlin's defense for 372 yards and 4 TD's.

Terrible roster for another coach to take over, but the Rooneys hold onto head coaches. Wonder if Harbaugh or Stefanski would be interested

Very saddened by the news, but there's still hope he ends up in the Jete a year from now, or Dolphins in a few days.

Should Make next years Pitt game a little easier with Steelers starting over with new coach and system

It was time. No playoff wins in 9 years and they seemed to keep patching together teams that would never really go anywhere to maintain his "never had a below .500 season" thing. They need to tear it down to the studs and have a tank year and try and get in the running for Manning or whomever else emerges in the 2027 draft.
It is difficult to have winning seasons without a QB.

Well, we could always count on them being mediocre under Tomlin. God forbid the Rooneys hire someone decent.

Wondering if this was his idea or Rooney's.

Rooney's based on this exclusive footage:

I suppose that his record was mediocre if the standard in the success of the patriots with Brady. Surely, a better coach would have done better, as Belichick surely would have without Brady. NOT

Of course he was fired. You don't actually fire a coach who has been your head coach for two decades unless he refuses to leave voluntarily. This was a firing where they allowed Tomlin to save face.
