Kyle Williams Watch

He’s delivered some big catches. Obviously the volume isn’t where we’d like but we are seeing the potential. He now has to show he can run the full route tree and not just go’s.
Edit: misread the route tree part. But I will say while it be nice to have the full one, just having more of it be nice too. I think he can get by without doing everything. Be great though? No.

Agree on the potential and big catches. Also I think he's be doing a lot better in a different offensive system. On the Bucs for instance he'd be 600+ right now ez.

Said this in another thread, worth repeating here

2 catches 20 yards in his first 9 games
5 catches for 170ish yards and 3 TDs the past 6 games.
Also just had his first 2 reception game last night.

There is progress being made but we all wish it was faster.

It is too early to tell. At best, Williams could have himself a David Givens 2003 offseason and emerge as a borderline WR1. At worst, he could be a slightly more productive Bethel Johnson, delivering a big play 3-4 times a year, but little else.

I see him settling as a Bernard Berrian type player. Not a go to guy, but someone good for 30-40 catches per year who will challenge for the league lead in ypc.

He strikes me as more of a Randy Moss light. He can win deep pretty consistently against man. Maybe next year.

A 5'11" WR who runs a 4.40 is a light version of 6'4" who runs a 4.25 and one of the best of all time? Seriously? Maybe next year? Dude, put down the eggnog.

With it looking like Boutte likely to miss the game against the Jets, Williams should get plenty of reps and it will be a good test of how far he has come. I'm hoping we'll get a good look at him.

I always likened KW to TY Hilton. He just needs to learn the nuances of route running & seeing the same thing as Maye coverage-wise.
This is such a good comp, and if he picks it up like TY ended up doing for his little 3-4 year run there - it's a homerun pick.

He is nothing like Randy Moss. That's just ridiculous. Mike Wallace light would be a better comparison.

Malcolm Mitchell only had 6 receptions in the first half of the 2016 season. It’s a good sign Williams is flashing & he’ll have a similar opportunity be a factor in a playoff run.
Hey, I like Williams as much as the next guy... as a PROSPECT. For a guy who doesn't have double digits catches in 16 games and most of those catches have been all one trick pony jobs. He hasn't shown he can be a significant contributor in a game plan. He made ONE catch last week (an in cut) that showed a BIT of progress. He is fast, but he hasn't shown much of a twitch factor on his KO returns.

I finally figured out about Jacobi Meyers and what separates him now from the guy he was developing into when he was here. There is some sort of skill set that allows guys like Puca, Kupp, and JNS who have average speed, and little twitch, yet somehow seem to be open all the time at every level. Now, whatever it is, it may take several years to develop like Meyer or it may be more innate, like JNS Either way there seems to be a new class of this kind of WR that seem to be cropping up. I hope Boutte is one of them.

KW's 5'11" if he's standing on a curb.

The only Pats receiver with any significant size is now on IR

The Combine has his frkin measurements. This post is outdated. Be educated and go read. The Combine didn't make a mistake.

Sounds like you're dealing with a case of Napoleon syndrome. In your world, is Stefon Diggs 6'7"?

I don't care about his height this week, I just want him to keep improving and getting more targets.
I loved seeing those basic routes and catches last week, he has to grow in the standard route tree...
AND make the very standard catches like his sideline drop. But I hope he can flip a switch going into the playoffs, because who knows about Diggs or Hollins. I'd love to see a lot of Boutte & KW this week

I don't care about his lack of height any week. Kyle excels at 'getting off the line' and has a ton of upside. I talked to him briefly at the team hotel in Tampa the day before the game.

You mean, lots of potential?

Well? What did he say?
lol... Spoke may be bit strong, in reality it was about 5 words. I was in the lobby with my son and on my phone. Kyle walked by on his way to the elevator. I said 'go Pats' , KW nodded, smiled and said 'thanks a lot'.
