OT: Colts and Titans Had "Agreement"

I believe it was the NFL that equated it to cheating.

No, that's where you're wrong!

The Commissioner himself went of his way to point out that no competitive edge was gained through this episode.

I believe it was a member of the press (New York? Anyone?) who first put the "cheating" label on this.

I don't care if you come over here to whine and b i t c h and moan, but at least bring an accurate array of facts with you, will you?

Please get the document the NFL released about this and point to the word cheating for me.... I may have missed that part.

I, too, would love to see this document. I keep hearing about it, but have never seen it.

According to the NFL stealing of signs (cheating) is OK. Taping the game without permission is OK. The rule is that we were punished under is the location where we were taping from.

Yes, this is what's known as "The Big Lie". Repeat it often enough and people begin to accept it as true, even if it is flat-on-it's-face false.

No such document exists, and the buffoon who posited this just now will likely disappear back into the woodwork.

Really? You've NEVER seen anything like this?
Really? You want MORE attention (It only seems to be getting attention here and on the Colts MB)?

How about:
http://www.patsfans.com/bob/display_story.php?story_id=2906

How about the part where the starters rested after the first quater?
How about the part where they lost a game they wanted to lose, and according to the writer...they lost on purpose.

Look, I'm not saying either is wrong. I say you rest your starters when you have nothing to play for. I say be a good sport and let the clock run out if you know you can't win, and the game is essentially over.

I also say, don't throw stones from your glass house...and when Brady's on the sideline, and Cassel's sailing passes that will force an OT in a game you want to lose...and your own site writer is telling the story of how it was intentional, and Bill planned it...your house looks pretty fragile.

This isn't about resting your starters or even making a strategic decision regarding the post season. This is about COLLUSION. Miami wasn't vying for a playoff berth in 2005, and we didn't have a bye week coming to recover from an OT game because we had the JAGS dropping by in less than a week. And unless you lost later in the day we could not have gained any kind of advantage. And of course, you didn't lose....until after your bye when you blew HFA throughout to a 6th seed!

The NFL,and Goodell NEVER equated, ruled, or convicted the Pats of cheating. The whole "cheating" myth was started by the media, and has been continually used by those who want to trash the Pats.

At least he was throwing passes, running plays, and not taking knees and engaging in negative clock management. He did throw a touchdown pass at the end of the game, you know, which is more than you fellows can claim.

Sorry - we don't do collusion.

Thanks for playing anyway!

Really...I thought Sorgi was in there, at least trying to make passes...seems like he almost completed the 4th down pass that would have kept our drive going...maybe I'm wrong....

The only thing we didn't do, was call a timeout, on 3rd down, with the Titans on the 27, when we were down by 6, with 20 seconds to go. It would have been even more, a case of grasping at straws to think we had a chance in that game than this thread is. Jim sorgi, (after the FG, then KO...running at least 5 second off) 15 seconds, and 80 yards, then another score...our subs played really, REALLY well...but not that well.

Goodell's rules are clear - collusion undermines the integrity of the game - and in this case it potentially affected who did and did not make the playoffs.

When Collins was pressed about how the Titans knew their lead was safe he admitted that there had been "communication" to the Titans, even though every Colt Troll who is pathetic enough to be on this board tries to spin it that the two coaches can read each others minds

As Mike Florio noted about Fishers contention that if the Colts had used the time out after the Titans had taken a knee on third down from the Indy 26, the Colts would have gotten the ball back with roughly 25 seconds to play -- and they would have been trailing by nine points, because the Titans would have kicked another field goal.

"Um, Jeff? Ever hear of a guy missing a field goal? Or of a blocked field goal being returned for a touchdown?" said Florio on his website.

It's a good point and one that should prompt Goodell to investigate even if the Browns don't file a grievance - if indeed he's as concerned about the integrity of the game as he claims (even though to this day he allows sign stealing).

Imagine, that the Titans don't get the "communication" from Dungy that he's going to let them win. Because they need to protect their lead they attempt a field goal - and either miss or have a blocked attempt returned for a TD and a potential one point loss.

What would happen if the Colts player who recovered and had a clear path for a game winning touchdown stopped before the goal line, having received a communication from Dungy that the Colts wanted to let his close friend Fisher's team win to get into the playoffs?

Do you Colts trolls think anyone would have a problem with that? Do you still fail to understand why that's the principle in play here and Goodell needs to take it seriously?

I suspect you won't but I'd love it if Dungy's collusion by "communicating" with Fisher proves to be a distraction during the playoffs as it would serve him right.

Very true. Unfortunately, it seems the NFL has been quick to defend others while going out of their way to drag the Patriots through the mud.

All you have to point to is the Colts being accused of pumping sound in and the Jets being caught doing what the Patriots did. In the Colts case the NFL quickly brushed it under the rug, no investigation necessary. CBS--I think it was them--came out quickly after the incident, saying it was a glitch in their system. However, look at it from their standpoint: they just had the highest rated game in NFL history and get their biggest ratings from the NFL, do you really think they'd like to be wrapped up in an NFL conspiracy? So they go along with the NFL and allow the issue to quickly dissolve despite some pretty damning evidence to the contrary (sound experts saying it couldn't have been a television feed, a stadium employee saying they did it all the time, and others coming out and saying their teams pumped in artificial noise).

In the case of the Jets, they had a similar violation to the Patriots (employee not in a designated filming area taping the opposing team). Despite the Patriots coming out and saying 1) they kicked the Jets employee out of the stadium and 2) saying they never gave him permission to film, nothing was made of the incident. I don't care where he was filming, it wasn't a designated area and is as clear a violation of the league rules as the Patriots case.

I hate all this crap, it detracts from the games being played and calls into question the integrity of the game. But after what happened to the Patriots I'd love for other teams--especially the 'holier than thou' Colts--to feel the wrath of the media creating a story from next to nothing.

Are you banging this drum because it's the Colts or just to protect the sanctity of the game? If it's strictly for the game, then here is another drum for you.

lol You combat my remark about cheating but totally disregard my larger post about the subject of this thread. Okay, whatever, the NFL didn't call it "cheating", but the NFL never said the Colts cheated either, but you guys throw that word around about the Colts all the time. "Collusion", "Noisegate", etc...all bulls%%t.

The Colts didn't cheat, they didn't collude, and it's obvious most on here did not even watch the game, but still have an opinion.

How funny is it that a COLT fan is bringing to our attention an article about piping in crowd noise! Ive been to a colts game in indi and will go to my grave saying that there was piped in noise.

The seahawks stadium is built like an amphitheater....in fact the owners meant to build it like an amphitheater, thats why its so loud. Its kinda like what the colts do, only the colts use speakers to do it......so its nothing like what the colts do because its NOT CHEATING!

I don't care if it's the Colts or the frickin Cardinals. Every team does some shady stuff, I'm sure the Pats still do to. I just want everyone to get off their high horse and pretend to be 100% positive of things that have less than zero % knowledge of.

While your scenario is possible, it's not likely. Bironas only missed 4 FGs all season, so a just a miss with him doesn't happen too often. Then you want to factor a block with a recovery and a return for a TD? When was the last time that happened? How often does that happen? I'm guessing less often than Bironas misses.

BTW, maybe careful what you ask for. I remember controversy at the beginning of the season that many thought would distract a coach and his team. How'd that one work out? Maybe this is what Dungy and the boys need to start their own Frick the NFL tour. (Notice the use of "frick" because we all know the Dungy doesn't swear)

Do you have any proof of this? of course not. Have you been to any other events at the RCA Dome? I'm sure you haven't. no, no, it was loud, that's your proof. nice.

Ha, ha. Dungy doesn't have the cajones for the GFY tour.

Both, I would say. Call me biased if you will, but Dungy was the one who said that it was a 'sad day for the NFL' when the whole camera thing came out, and that the Patriots actions were sad because the other 90% of the NFL didn't do that sort of thing. I called bull****, and still call bull****. Whether it be filming or lip readers, every team in the NFL did/does that sort of thing; the Patriots were caught in a rules violation and the NFL let it get out of hand. The 'cheating' allegations were, and are, ridiculous, and to think that people looking back on this perfect regular season will read about the Patriots 'cheating' makes me sick.

That said, I also believe in the sanctity of the game, the whole 'when I'm watching a game I want to know it's straight up; everyone is performing at their best to win the game.' The last few weeks you may not see that because of playoff implications (starters being rested is, of course, the right of a team who's preparing for the playoffs), but how often do you see teams strategically (and by that I mean the playcalling) roll over without putting up a fight in a winnable game? Again, to the idiots who keep posting about starters vs. backups and players giving their all-out effort: IT IS NOT ABOUT THAT!!! It's about a winnable ballgame not being called as though one team wants to win it, plain and simple. Backups or not, you run the plays and try to score/prevent the other team from scoring, simple as that. As soon as you take that out of the game you have a tainted product. When you see a team take 40 seconds off the clock after a -1 yard play in the final minutes, then not use their final timeout to force a play, you have a team that is strategically not trying to win the game. Sure, the players might be giving their all, but the play callling leaves something to be desired. Collusion or not, the ending to that game stunk.

See above.

I understand how amphitheaters work, but I also understand how putting a lid on a stadium will make it louder. I don't know how many here go to games in domes, but it makes a huge difference. So, to say just because you don't think it can be that loud without any other reason than that's what you think seems a little short sighted.

i hope this 'agreement does not come back and bites Colts arss. It is really a shame and many fans will ask for their money back if it happens.

VERY LOUD FANS + Smallest NFL stadium + Roof over stadium + Fans getting "hyped up" more than normal, for our biggest rival = ???

Guess why the Pats always say we pump in sound.

Pssst, just so you know...we take that as a compliment, LOL
