OT: Report: Lamar Jackson is wearing out his welcome in Baltimore

Merry Christmas you too!

Fans are split on Belichick possibly getting the job. A lot hate him for his Patriots run, but also some fans think with their roster all they need is a good HC. For the past 5 years now, the Ravens are a great regular season team (besides this year) but look unprepared in the playoffs. Some believe Belichick would get them better prepared.

A lot of sports radio has lamented the fact that McDonald left and is now successful in Seattle. There is a large segment of fans and sports talk/media that have wanted Harbaugh out for a number of years now. Bisciotti has resisted but I think it's about time for a divorce especially with the toxic level rising between Lamar and Harbaugh.
I wonder how much NFL history obsessed BB weighs the fact that the Ravens are the Cleveland Browns franchise he broke into HC-ing with.

I know. But those last years was different. We had an aging roster and an aging.Brady who didn't suffer rookies and only wanted to chase Superbowls

I still don't understand why people still think Kraft/BB threw out Brady. He was never signing here in 2020, even if they could have done it under the cap, WHICH they couldn't have done. He had sold his house a full year before. Didn't you get the hint?

Belichick drove him out. Brady no longer enjoyed playing football for him and wanted out. Same with Gronk.

I can't find any thread related to Lamar Jackson around draft time. I wanted to see how the thread aged.
I am one of those and was shocked and very disappointed that pats drafted Sony instead of LJ. I suspect front office was concerned how Brady would react if they picked LJ in round one

Not true, Brady left New England with Giselle, and he was completely sick of Belichick, as was Gronk.
Yeah thats exactly how the Beatles broke up too. She got into his head about how BB was treating him. Brady would have stayed with the Pats if she wasn't in the picture.

Whatever.

I think Belichick's issue with Jackson was accuracy, and I don't think he believed a Jackson could ever become an accurate passer in the NFL.

Thank goodness he showed his acumen at QB selection and great foresight as an NFL executive by deciding to take on Jarrett Stidham and Cam Newton.

Nice to see the Ravens are a mess. That said, this whole thing about trading Lamar and Baltimore ends up with no QB (but saves $15 million!!) is ridiculous. If you’re a team without a QB, your HC and GM are getting fired. It’s that simple. There’s no reason for Baltimore to do it unless they had a better option, and clearly they don’t.

Right now, Lamar needs to heal up. After that, they’ll be back in the playoffs and all this hand wringing will go away.

With 4% odds of making the playoffs after losing to us, Harbaugh now has an entire off-season to twist in the wind.

Yet I agree they really don't have an option other than to bring the band back together again and hope that Lamar turns things around physically or mentally.

That lack of options may or may not be what gets Harbaugh fired.

The whole thing has Tua vibes: give a guy a fat contract just as he's tailing off, then you're stuck with him long term as his mental and physical game declines.

My ex-wife might say the same thing about me, LOL!

He did pick the GOAT, but overall his track record on quarterbacks isn't very good, but then again neither is most NFL front offices.

**** Rehbein made him pick the GOAT, otherwise IMO it would not have happened.

Any pro team hiring Bill at this point better understand they are not getting 2000-2019 Bill
Bill version 2 is petty, distracted, selfish, egotistical, power hungry and narcissistic.
Good luck with that.

As I read this, I was thinking KC should be thinking the same thing with Mahomes. They could get a nice haul from the Jets who would gladly pick up his monster contract.

When was the last time a mostly-playoff coach with a superstar QB got fired? Everyone is talking about it with the Ravens, the Bills and the Bengals, but I'm blanking on the last time a team risked it by getting rid of their coach.

Is late-period, injury-prone, checked-out Lamar a superstar QB?

I don't think so, and I think a lot of Ravens fans feel the same too.

We disagree on this. No assistant ever made Belichick do anything, and just as he has to take the blame for bad decisions he gets credit for the good ones. This is where the Cult falls apart, they believe he should get all the credit, but no blame, and that's not the way life works. If you are responsible then you get both. Rehbein scouted Brady, and he definitely advocated for him, but Belichick could have blown him off, which he did to scouts and assistants regularly, instead he took him, kept 4 quarterbacks instead of cutting him, and then traded the $100 million QB to make him the starter. On the downside he was also such a dour ******* that he ultimately drove him out of town. So while I agree that Belichick made numerous bad choices for Brady!s back ups and then his successors, he still gets credit for the GOAT.

For a guy who is only 28 Jackson looks really old.

I just started watching The Wire again, I think I know why Lamar looks 60. He needs to stay away from the corners.

I agree with your post at the high level, but I also think at the time Rehbein advocated for Brady I feel there was NFW that BB projected him as the guy who would take Bledsoe's job. I feel BB probably did what he always did, wanted a training camp arm and 'project QB' for the offensive coaches to work with. He was probably thinking the same way he did when he signed guys like Kevin O'Connell or Rohan Davey, why not burn a 6th...

Not true. Brady got Yoko'd by Gisele then left him.

There have been so many stories, it's hard to pick something to believe. But the Yoko theory does make sense. Tom told Gisselle what was going on and she didn't like it. In fact, Giselle started speaking for Tom as described in this meeting with Bob Kraft where the origin of "Johnny Foxboro" began. Bob set up a meeting when Tom initially stated he wanted out after the 2017 Super Bowl loss to the Eagles:

"Soon after, Benedict writes, Kraft summoned Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen to his home for a discussion. Bündchen took up for Brady. After pointing out how much Brady had done for the organization:

She also pointed out how ridiculous it was that after all these years, Belichick still treated Brady like "f****** Johnny Foxboro." It was bad enough to never voice approval. It was ******** to still be dressing down the most accomplished quarterback in league history during team meetings and treating his personal trainer and best friend like some kind of outcast.

When the conversation shifted to the future, Brady and Bündchen indicated it was time for them to make some changes that were in the best interest of their family. Among other things, they were contemplating a change of scenery."

As the article later points out, Bob was initially reluctant to allow Tom to leave, but later agreed if Tom still wanted out. Tom decided to return to NE under his conditions. This was why he was absent during the 2018 off-season. Bob was also going to lobby with Bill to "lighten up". Meanwhile, BB had a trade in place with Detroit for Gronk which not only pissed Gronk off, but blocked the trade.

The Ravens organization probably thinks so.

Either way, I think it’s really rare that a club is going to get rid of their coach when they’re having success unless the coach leaves on his own.
