OT: Report: Lamar Jackson is wearing out his welcome in Baltimore

I get why you'd say that ken. But I'd add that essentially Every off season was about making superbowl runs with Brady.. our worst season with Brady as starting QB was 9-7..
I know. But those last years was different. We had an aging roster and an aging.Brady who didn't suffer rookies and only wanted to chase Superbowls

I still don't understand why people still think Kraft/BB threw out Brady. He was never signing here in 2020, even if they could have done it under the cap, WHICH they couldn't have done. He had sold his house a full year before. Didn't you get the hint?

Merry christmas to you! Thanks for this insight. I could very see a scenario where Harbaugh is out. Question is.. who would Ravens replace him with??

I know a guy that is from the Maryland area...
that guy made a call to the ravens owner, suggesting the ravens should look at Harbaugh as head coach.

The entire Raven offense has been designed around Jackson. That's not just the design of it, but the personnel as well. So you'd have to not only change the QB, you have to change the OC, and the kind of receivers you have. That would require a 2-3 year reset assuming you find a good starting QB.

Not sure I follow. At some point, Lamar will be gone, be it injury, retirement, etc. And at that point I'd suggest they're just going to look for a Lamar clone and not change their entire offensive coaching staff, WR room, etc.

Sounds like you have a 2 time MVP QB who at $36MM/yr is a positive bargain. who has a bit of an attitude problem or rather a personality issue. But is basically a good guy who is going through a very frustrating and disappointing year. They will deal with it and will probably be a favorite next year to win it all.

The problem IMO is they've seen all the upside Lamar has to give, and the hits hes taken, along with aging, and how his particular genetics handles recovery (no so well, IMO) pretty much dictates he isn't going to get to that peak upside ever again. It's even quite questionable if he will be able to be QB1 for a full season ever again.

So, as above. they definitely have to already start planning for that day when Lamar cleans out his locker, since it might happen sooner than later, either because he calls it quits or they realize they are going nowhere with an aging injury prone guy.

Do they really want to be the team that has a guy like Rodgers who has a passable season once every few years but is down or sucks the rest of the time?

IMO it certainly won't hurt to draft a young athletic QB who can do some of the things Lamar does and coach him up as backup if nothing else. They gotta do something. Hope is not a plan.

Many NE fans wanted BB to draft Jackson.
I can't find any thread related to Lamar Jackson around draft time. I wanted to see how the thread aged.

Even if Lamar is getting hurt and hasn't done it in the playoffs, moving on from Lamar before changing the coach to an offensive one and seeing how it looks would be idiotic.

It would be so much easier to change the coach and see how it looks in a year, Lamar Jackson is 76-29 in the regular season a starting quarterback it's not easy to find a guy like that who wins over 70% of his starts.

Just look at what Sean Payton is doing for Bo Nix and Liam Coen for Trevor Lawrence, i would much rather can Harbaugh and see what a year of Lamar looks like with one of those type of guys.

Once again, I don't think the issue is the system, I think it's his commitment and desire. The reports about him missing as many practices as he possibly can on a yearly basis bring his desire to put in the work to be a champion into question,

That's the current cost for the Ravens. A team trading for him would "only" have to pay about $50M a year.
I don't think that any team can afford to pay him $50M a year and have enough cap money left to be competitive over the next few years.

Lamar Jackson and Mike T. Should get paired together... great season records... never going to playoffs though.

Yes they did, and they would have been WRONG for all the reasons I gave in my earlier post. '18 and '19 off seasons were all about making super bowl runs with Brady.
Running QBs are torn between staying in the pocket under mounting pressure or creating something positive by running.

I think Belichick's issue with Jackson was accuracy, and I don't think he believed a Jackson could ever become an accurate passer in the NFL.

Lol 2 or 3 first round picks was the last time his contract and team status was in question, imo he is at best worth 1 not 2 and certainly not 3 first round picks. If I'm a team like the Jets I would be perfectly ok with chancing a single first rounder for him. Especially after it being known that they have had to cater the entire program around what he wants, not the coaches, make him nearly untradeable to me. Why would any team want to bring a known locker room problem onto their team and then worst have to give him a long-term deal along with draft capital to Baltimore.

Nice to see the Ravens are a mess. That said, this whole thing about trading Lamar and Baltimore ends up with no QB (but saves $15 million!!) is ridiculous. If you’re a team without a QB, your HC and GM are getting fired. It’s that simple. There’s no reason for Baltimore to do it unless they had a better option, and clearly they don’t.

Right now, Lamar needs to heal up. After that, they’ll be back in the playoffs and all this hand wringing will go away.

This thread is probably the closest — a 22 pager in response to rumors the Pats wanted to trade up for Josh Rosen. What a disaster that would have been. Anyway, it was a broader discussion on all the QBs.
Rumor: Pats interested in Josh Rosen?

Trading him would be a good way to anger fans and have empty seats next year. Besides, who would the starting QB be going forward?

Let's be clear that from what I've heard about Lamar Jackson does not make him a bad person. He wants to take it easy during the week after playing hard and getting beat up every Sunday. Dude has taken some brutal hits.

Unfortunately, his current ability and desire do not translate to playoff success. He's not a field general type of QB who just needs to have enough athletic ability to slide around in the pocket. He's apparently not committed enough to studying that he can overcome new or worsening physical limitations.

Guys like Brady and Montana willed themselves into becoming who they were. If you saw rookie Joe Cool or rookie TB, I doubt any of you would have predicted their future.

Quarterbacks have to be leaders during the offseason as well as the real season, and Jackson lacks that commitment.
