Yeah Judkins got arrested in July for domestic violence. As far as I know he hasn't signed a contract or even attended training camp yet. Ooof. What a waste of an early draft pick. Looks like we got the right RB out of that Ohio State duo.He put said physicality to use, IIRC.
He would have had Ashton Jeanty not put up 12000 yards against the Little Sisters of the Poor last year.Commanders reddit forum was gushing over henderson yesterday, they thought he should’ve went first round. Im still giving rham another shot this year as a regular contributor but henderson needs to see the field alot too
If you want to look at RB size, Lesean McCoy was 'only' 5-11 210 lbs and an all-pro in his prime.I was looking at Henderson vs The Bills every down RB Cook Vs Christian McCaffrey. All 3 are 5'11". Henderson is listed at 202lbs, Cook at 190 lbs, and McCaffrey at 210 lbs. Henderson 40 Time 4.43, Cook 4.42, McCaffrey 4.48. If Cook can be The Bills every down RB at 190 lbs, Henderson could. That being said, and for the same thing they shouldn't have done with McCaffrey, Henderson should be used as a 3rd Down/Special Weapon RB/WR. I'd use Stevenson/Gibson as the "Power Backs" this Season, then draft a 1st and 2nd down RB high in next year's draft. If they use him properly (and barring injury), Henderson could be a terror to the rest of the NFL for quite a long time.
It's scary to think if he got up to 210-215 lbs of muscle and didn't loose any speed or quickness! If you want to look at RB size, Lesean McCoy was 'only' 5-11 210 lbs and an all-pro in his prime.
With a professional weight training program I feel like Henderson can easily gain another 5-10 lbs of muscle without losing speed.
Now I'm not ready to say that Henderson will duplicate the accomplishments of a McCoy, but when you watch him go you can tell he's definitely going to be a headache for NFL defenses to handle.
I think you've got it - and while we'll see what the pre and real season bring, the buzz around Henderson - especially given his college production of @ 7 yards per play - is going to require Defenses to account for him from Day 1 - and that is a HUGE help for Maye.A “3rd down back” plays 10-15 snaps a game.
You really want them splitting pretty much 50/50
But you want Henderson 50% to be in big play situations.
I’d say something like 2/1 split on first down, 1/1 on second and Henderson on 3rd.
You also want Henderson on the field in hurry up.
Henderson isn’t an every down back but he also isn’t a novelty who okays 2-3 snaps a quarter.
Some interesting comparisons between White & Henderson. Both shared the load with another back in college. Henderson was more explosive than White was in college, but White was more elusive. However you do it, pure speed or elusiveness, you can be an explosive weapon in McDaniels’ offense if you grasp the offense quickly and can pass block.Really impressive how he's playing. I'm not sure he can be a 1st down back consistently....he's 5'10 200 lb....same as James White. Looking forward to seeing what he can do once the real games start.
Absolutely Henderson will be more productive than White as a rookie and possibly his entire career. I think he has lots of talent. I just hope we don't over-use him and he gets injured and broken-down early in his career. He's a very good outside runner which complements Rham well. Some interesting comparisons between White & Henderson. Both shared the load with another back in college. I feel Henderson is ahead of White as a rookie. Let’s not forget White was pretty much redshirted his rookie season. Once Vereen left after SB 49 (what a great performance by him), White took over that role.
Worst case scenario, Henderson is the new James White with great straight line speed. Maybe the speediest back we’ve had in decades. Best case, he’s a do it all RB who eventually grabs the starting job from Stevenson in 2026. I do feel Henderson is stronger than his 5’11” 210 measurements.
That’s 7.0 yards per CARRY. So that’s just running the ball, which is fantastic. He averaged 10.5 yards per catch. So he averaged 7.6 yards per touch. They really didn’t use him that much as a receiver, 27 catches for 284 yards. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doubles that as a Patriot as a rookie. I think they will use him way more as a receiver than Ohio State did.I think he and Stevenson

So McDaniels would be crazy not to have him in there more routinely than a 3rd round back.
To the OP's point I'd guess that they play on using him and Stevenson as 1a and 1b - especially since I expect he'll use the run to set up the pass at this stage in Maye and the LT's development.
Whether he continues to earn that Defensive respect will be up to him - but the way he's played to date, he's a 1b at least - and is in fact the guy you likely want on 3rd down to keep Ds guessing whether it's a run or pass play.
If you start from the assumption that you want your RBs to split the load about 50/50, which I think most teams do, outside of having a Barkley or mccaffrey, the question becomes which 50 should it be. Certainly not alternating regardless of situation, that robs you of getting players in their best rolesI think he and Stevenson

He was splitting the RB snaps, and Ohio State was not great at QB the last 2 years but had incredible WRs, so 27 catches is actually impressive in that offense. That’s 7.0 yards per CARRY. Jahmyr Gibbs and Kyren Williams carry 200 just fine.I think hes to lite to be to be an every down back at 200lbs, he'd get beat up pretty quick
I think having Von Miller start a fight with a rookie RB because he didn’t like the way the rookie blocked him says tons of good things about the rookie.I was thinking about the fight that Vrabel jumped into in the practice with Washington, and it brought something to mind from the recent past.
The fight was between Henderson and Von Miller, and my guess is that Miller didn’t appreciate a block Henderson laid on him.
Well, a story came out from a joint practice with another team where the opposing players were telling the Pats players that they needed to rein in one player who was playing balls to the wall.
That player?
Gronk.
As I recall he turned out OK.
Do you really think those will transfer to the BIG LEAGUES?That’s 7.0 yards per CARRY. So that’s just running the ball, which is fantastic. He averaged 10.5 yards per catch. Probably. Obviously, they are going to try to limit his carries and give him a 60/40 split. Maybe 50/50. But situational football will prevail. Hurry up offense, 2 minute drill, close game going into the 4th quarter or simply just playing from behind needing an extra receiver or holding a lsmall lead where pass protection is life and death. Who know what is actually playing time is going to be by seasons end?
I do wonder how much he can add. Ohio State has probably the #1 or 2 strength training program in the country. If you want to look at RB size, Lesean McCoy was 'only' 5-11 210 lbs and an all-pro in his prime.
