A Different View On Our Three starting WR's (presuming health)

Douglas should be thanked for his being among the best of a really terrible WR corps. That fact doesn't qualify him to be a starter on a team competing for the playoffs and beyond.
=========

Douglas and Boutte have both been playing with incompetent QB’s prior to Maye playing, and that needs to be taken into consideration in regards to his production.

We need recievers who can run block, set picks, find holes in a soft zone, and win in tight contested spaces. These players open up the field for your star players. I have a feeling we will see more Polk and Hollins and less Hooper this year.

I have a feeling that the only place you will see Polk is playing for another team. I don’t see how he makes this team short of a number of injuries.

I tend to agree he's probably number 8 on my list right now but I don't think it's that hard to see a scenario where a 2nd round pick overcomes a bad rookie year and plays significantly better in year 2.

Branch was the 3rd targeted WR, so he got plenty of playing time and produced. That has been a major problem in NE since then.

The players that played the most their rookie seasons were Branch, Dobson, Thompkins, Mitchell and Douglas. Branch and Douglas are the only two that have matched or exceeded their rookie seasons in production the following season.

Edelman is an outlier because he was in transition of becoming a WR and was buried on the depth chart.

He still caught for at least 400 yards in both seasons while guys like Thornton, Polk and Baker find ways to stay off the field. I'd rather have something than nothing.
I certainly understanding that you want Douglas instead of Thornton;
and also that, as now, you prefer him to Polk and Baker.

I'm not sure that anyone disagrees with the above.
==========
That still leaves him as one of SEVEN competing for 5 or 6 roster spots (presuming that there is no resurrection of Polk or Baker).

DIGGS, WILLIAMS, BOURNE, HOLLINS, BOUTTE/CHISM

Ok.

Vrabel knows that; yet he brought in Diggs, Hollins, Williams and Chism.

Yes, based on past production, Douglas, Boutte and Bourne have an advantage over Polk and Baker.

And yes, maybe one or both will make the 53 and perhaps even start Game One.

Player Comparison from Grok:
In the 2024 NFL season, Mack Hollins played all 17 games for the Buffalo Bills, averaging a snap count percentage of approximately 66.65% per game when active. Kendrick Bourne, with the New England Patriots, played in 12 games, averaging about 58.33% per game when active. This indicates Hollins was more consistently involved in offensive plays when on the field.
_______
If Diggs, Hollins, Williams, and Dougles are all ahead of Bourne, do you think Bourne will settle on being inactive? After Vrable shipped out Milton, I'm not sure if he will keep either Bourne or Boutte around if they don't earn a top-four spot.

Bourne: 29 yo (2 teams in 9 seasons)

Hollins: 31 yo (6 teams in 8 seasons)

If they are the 5th and/or 6th best you don’t get rid of them because with injuries you will need them. You can’t weaken your team because a guy is unhappy he was beaten out.

The grok quote doesn’t appear to say what you think it does, it only state the % of snaps played.

Snap counts are an important factor in this comparison. Games played isn’t a great comparison because you don’t know playing time.

So, career snaps played on offense:

Bourne 3882
Hollins 3420

If he were to frequent the Liquor Dome in downtown Halifax tomorrow night, he’d have good options - even at his age.

(Yes, « why would anyone ever go to the Dome ? » is a very valid question and one I’ve asked more than once in the past…)
Is the Liquor Dome still open?
Asking for a friend

It’s open. Every once in a while, when it gets too wild, liquor board shuts it down to the dismay of the college kids.

Most def an overrated establishment for the under 25s who frequent it.

I picked that stat on purpose. Hollins was on the field because of run blocking, picks, decoy routes, endzone plays, quarterback draws, and screens. Diggs, Williams, Dougles, Henry, and Henderson are going to get a lot of touches. The third receiver needs to have some strong complementary skills. Hollins will make the players around him better. I'm not sure of Bourne, although I can see Polk beating Hollins out for a spot.

Dunno how it will break out, but I am sure of one thing....Hollins will have the best pre-game outfits....
Except his footwear…

He could easily be PS. I don't see other teams breaking down his door.

Am I the only 1 who feels like Vrabel has aged like fine wine ... He looks more a stud right now from a looks perspective as compared to his youthful days ...
Well at least he's different from Mayo who aged the entire fan base in a year.

Possibly, but he was a good prospect coming out of college, ironically with excellent hands. I could see a team taking a shot on him.

Conversation is off in my opinion. The question is Maye's best Receivers i.m.o. Diggs, Hunter, Williams, Douglas, Hopper, Henderson will be the leaders.

My best guess at a depth chart, starters in bold, with some optimism thrown in:

BIG WR – Stefon Diggs, Kendrick Bourne/Mack Hollins,
FAST WR – Kyle Williams, DeMeer Blankumsee,
SLOT WR – Demario Douglas, Efton Chism,

I get that Boutte has a better chance than DeMeer Blankumsee actually developing into an NFL player, like I said… optimism…. he’s fast.

I agree with this. Mondre, Henderson in the open field with Hollins making a key block. Hollins the biggest WR of the group in the red zone. Hollins the biggest WR of the group running a McD staple, the rub route.
Diggs, Henry, Henderson/Gibson, Pop/Chism will dominate the targets. who compliments them, and thrives with out a large volume of targets? who chafes when not seeing targets?

But what you quoted simply said he played a higher percentage of snaps.
We’ve seen the value before with guys like hogan.

Polk has a long, long way to go just to make the team. Probably will be on the practice squad
