Exactly: people seem to forget that Teams can turn it around quickly with the right pieces. Getting both Aiyuk and Diggs would be great for Maye's development. Both would automatically improve both Pop Douglas and Boutte. There is no reason they shouldn’t. A full draft 70 million in cap space.
We have 8 games this year against teams who won 5 games or less last year. Any goal short of playoffs is unacceptable.
Bro. I mean this with sincerity in my heart. Given this team's more recent history, what would make you think they are going to get either of these guys, never mind both? Setting yourself up, my man.Exactly: people seem to forget that Teams can turn it around quickly with the right pieces. Getting both Aiyuk and Diggs would be great for Maye's development. Agreed. I can’t recall the last time the Patriots were a “trade candidate” for a player, and actually getting that player in a trade during that cycle. Thinking all the way back to when they traded for Randy Moss in 2007, that came out of nowhere. I remember mumblings of Moss’ unhappiness with the Raiders, but I never recalled hearing any rumors of the Pats trading for him. It just sort of happened, and they waited until the last day of the draft to make the move.Bro. I mean this with sincerity in my heart. Vrabel knows how Important the position is on Offense after QB. We Are lucky both Diggs and Aiyuk got injured: that is one of the only ways we could get em.Bro. This is not the BB/Brady era when Brady made WR's look good. It's the Drake Maye/ Mike Vrabel era which WR's are going to make Drake Maye look good *get that through your thick skulls *. IF we had better WR's last year Maye wouldn't throw those game ending Ints. I don't have high hopes for Polk and Baker: no HC or OC should either: if they're in their right minds.Agreed. Years of hearing speculation about guys like Larry Fitzgerald and Odell Beckham Jr. and Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins and they never end up here. Brandon Aiyuk isn’t getting traded here. It’s not worth getting worked up about. If the Pats do trade for a WR, it will probably be someone we haven’t heard about as being available.
You know Vrabel is in charge, you have even acknowledged that recently, yet you call for Wolf to be fired if they don’t get a WR. You clearly understand that is completely irrational, yet you do it anyways. Shouldn't Vrabel be fired if he doesn’t get a receiver?
Always like reading your posts Huck, well balanced and knowledgeable. Perhaps you could take Sam to one side and teach him how to be too.The way I look at everything for the Patriots is that I want them to build a team that will contend throughout Maye’s career. Even though I think they might have a shot at a Wild Card spot this coming season (25’), I’m really looking at 26’ as the year they become a real playoff team, and from 27’ on I want them to be a contender. The contracts they signed in free agency should reflect who they want to be starters on those playoff teams. So Milt Williams and Carlton Davis ( and others) are guys they consider starters for those teams. The guys they are signing now are what I call band aids. Guys who can possibly shore up a weakness, but who they need to replace over the next two years with playoff team caliber starters. Garrett Bradbury is a good example of this. They signed him to a 2 year deal, They are hoping he will help shore up the line short term, but they know they will have to find their long term answer at Center either in the draft or the next free agency or two. So when I look at the players left in free agency that’s the lens I look at them through. With Diggs I see them adding a veteran in a 1-2 year deal at very reasonable $$$$, so I’m fine with that. With Aiyuk they will have to give up both a draft pick and 28 million a season, and given his boom or bust history, and that injury I think that’s a bad move for a team that is really 2 seasons from seriously competing in the playoffs. I understand why people are screaming for a receiver, but I would go with Diggs and the draft, where there will be good prospects right into the 4th round over spending that much on an unreliable WR who didn’t want to play here to begin with. I’m sure many will disagree with me, but that’s the best explanation for how I see the rest of this offseason and acquisitions.
3 straight losing seasons, 4 out of 5, and back to back 4 win seasons makes us the outlier, in a group with severely mismanaged franchises like the jete, browns of old, jags, raiders that stay down for a long time. The norm is to turn it around within 2-4 years.Exactly: people seem to forget that Teams can turn it around quickly with the right pieces. Getting both Aiyuk and Diggs would be great for Maye's development. Both would automatically improve both Pop Douglas and Boutte.
PATSY: we can have Both we are going all out.Im in if we’re not doing a deal with diggs. Trade for aiyuk and draft hunter, wr problem solved.
Aiyuk is definitely on the Table: the 49ers know how to Draft WR's... they don't have our problems in that area.I'm in if we’re not doing a deal with diggs. Trade for aiyuk and draft hunter, wr problem solved.
I could make arguments against Aiyuk. Health, attitude, etc. just like you can make arguments against metcalf, Deebo, Kupp, Diggs.FTR: Aiyuk and Higgins are identical players production wise. Screw the Third Round pick he's worth it: how many Third Round picks have been world beaters for the Patriots?? Joe Thuney... that's a very long time between drinks. Give them the Atlanta Third for Aiyuk: dude just turn 27 still in the prime of his career.

I really hope we make S Diggs an Offer Today: when he's right he's as good as any... production is not a problem for him.I could make arguments against Aiyuk. Health, attitude, etc. just like you can make arguments against metcalf, Deebo, Kupp, Diggs.
But we are at critical mass at the WR position
We have made improvements on D that everyone is excited about. Assuming we draft the LT that’s 3 new starters (really 4) on the OL and 3 of them are 1st round pedigree. We have the QB. We have largely remade the roster.
But we have, by far, the worst WR group in the NFL. It’s not even close. The Ohio State University had a better group of WRs last year than we have.
We have to fix the WR position to compete and if we do (plus the LT in the draft) tell me where the weakness is that would make us a bad team.
The WRs we have will prevent us from winning games we would win with competence at the position
So damn negatives, damn the concerns, we need to stop finding reasons to pass up on everyone who could improve the WR position and get the best ones that are available.
I don't think he can pass a physical yet. I think yesterday was a check-in to see how he's doing on the recovery.I really hope we make S Diggs an Offer Today: when he's right he's as good as any... production is not a problem for him.

Guilty. If April 1 is the deadline, the Patriots should not bother talking about a 3rd round pick til April 2.
It is silly to take on salary and give up a high pick.
Only Patriots fans with WR anxiety would do so.
Jed York is mandating these cuts
