Carter & Hunter gone by 4# Trade down?

I just saw Schefter say that the one thing he’s sure of in this draft is at Cleveland’s going to take a quarterback, we shall see
That would be amazing for us. Pray the Giants don’t find someone in free agency and we get Carter or Hunter

For us amateurs/fans who don't have the first clue in evaluating NFL talent at a quantifiable level, it's impossible to say if Player X is a top 3, top 5, or top 10 pick. We just read what other "experts" say and if we've watched the games and Player X makes plays consistently vs NFL-caliber talent then we have the formings of an opinion.

Based on watching him play and the "experts", it seems Graham is worthy pick at #4. There is the concern about arm length but the man is ridiculously quick, insane motor, and as you say has a great attitude.

If he is there at #4 I would not be a fan of trading down.
How quick is he???

Schefter saying he is confident Browns take a QB at 2, like I said before 2QBs will be taken before NE picks.
Content with just one QB gone before the 4th pick but two would be great. Would put the chance of none gone before 4 at 0.0

I think culture type players are going to be a big thing from Vrabel’s perspective
Don’t get me wrong talent will always be the main draw
Saying that guys like Graham and Campbell fit the bill.
Especially where he has been putting an emphasis on strong trenches and I think both are strong culture type players
FA will sort it all out

If Shedeur Sanders is available at four, I'd imagine there would be some QB needy teams that might have interest in trading up to four, at least I hope so. However, as I think about this, if I were a QB needy team, I'd strongly consider tanking for prohibitive favorite #1 pick in 2026 Arch Manning especially since this years QB draft class isn't highly regarded. I'd love to hear this communities input as to who is best positioned to tank and how they might accomplish tanking. One idea I had was for a team to draft a QB this year but one who is sellable to the fan base but not a first round guy, maybe a Will Howard for example. Alternatively, a team could sign a marginal free agent QB. Lastly, a team could trade for a QB like Joe Milton. Play Joe Milton for a year, if he's great you have your QB of the future at a rediculous salary. If he busts, your set for a good shot at Arch Manning. If the Pats trade Joe Milton before the draft, I think they may be reducing the overall demand for the Shedeur Sanders/the 4th pick, so maybe it's better to wait until after the draft, haven't really thought it through and I digress. In any case, I'm curous what the Patsfans community thinks in terms of which teams most likely to tank for Arch Manning and how might they go about doing it.

Arch is getting paid well what makes you so sure he declares for the next draft? Has this been reported?

Interesting question. I'm not "so sure" he declares for the draft but my opinion is that he does. He's making $6.5mm (source On3). If he is the #1 pick I think it's reasonable to expect the rookie scale contract will be ~ $12mm per year for him. Between the money and the allure/prestige of the NFL (on possibly other factors), I think he'll declare for the draft next year. I could be wrong about him declaring and I could be wrong that he's the number one guy. However, I do think next years QB class is projected to be stronger. Is your opinion that he doesn't declare.

Oh man there's a whole ****-ton of football to be played before we anoint Manning top of R1 status. I agree, let's pump the brakes.

I don't really have an opinion yet I haven't seen enough of him. But if I were an NFL team I don't think I'd be making plans based on that assumption. I mostly asked because I wasn't sure if you knew something I didn't.

Even if Carter and Hunter are there they should consider trading back.
Honest question and since we were in a similar boat last year I should probably know the answer. But who are these teams that got buoyed to contention by trading away a top 5 pick for a haul?

The only team that comes to mind is the Bears who got a lot including being in a position to get Williams. But then they wind up with 5 wins.

I must be blanking on a few examples but I feel like nailing your top 5 pick has a bigger impact than getting a haul.

No.

Last year people considered trading back for a haul and I'm so glad we didn't. If Hunter is there at 4 take him no matter what.

Also our big trade back last year was overthinking it and passing up Ladd for Polk.

I don't trust our front office to try to be cute and smart. Just keep it simple and get the BPA and move on.

We don’t need a QB now.

The year prior they traded back and drafted an All Pro CB.
