“Smoke” surrounding Pats org, according to grilled cheese sandwich (Remains Unconfirmed)

Some of these guys live for attention and clicks like they are addicted to crack.
Agree that unless a legit NFL reporter says something we are wasting our time But there were reports in last 10 days of;

1. Mayo’s wife being pissed
2. Rumors of legal action by Mayo against Kraft

Maybe these are just piggybacking on those?
Those reports came from the same guys you discounted at the start of your post.

So the rumor is Kraft offered to bribe Mayo to lose? Mayo maybe agreed, maybe didn’t, but then won. I guess that’s why Kraft wasn’t even willing to wait until Monday to fire Mayo.

I suspect it would be “Kraft tried to get me to throw the last game, I said no and then I won and so he fired me for winning and not tanking.” Or something like that.

I have the feeling Mayo might have some trouble getting a high school coaching job...
Even if he left quietly I wouldn't hire him to be a high school coach. Maybe pop warner.

Few thoughts:

- My gut says this will have more to do with Pats basically having an agreement to hire Vrabel in place before they even fired Mayo. Not sure what would/could come of that but I do believe it would be a big deal in the media and could be perceived as violating the Rooney rule.

-Mayo likely plans to never coach again as going nuclear (as this seems to suggest) is career suicide. Other owners will publicly castigate sanctimoniously Kraft, and privately blacklist Mayo. It’s terrible optics to have been absolutely horrible at your job and then blame everyone but you for it.

-I could see nearly ANYTHING leading to Pats punishment because…Patriots.

-Bob being removed wouldn’t bother me a bit…he’s old and likely not all there anyway which is how we got to the current state of the franchise.

I cannot see why ANYONE at the top would say this or anything similar, since you know…these days cameras/phones are everywhere. Sad thing is no one needed to even say anything to Mayo to get him to lose. Coulda said nothing and all woulda been fine.

I was just making this conversation up.
I do not believe it happened

It's pretty obvious there are rumors going around that Kraft may have encouraged Mayo to tank towards the tail end of the season and now Mayo is looking into legal action. These X accounts have hinted at this in great detail without saying it but that is what they are saying.
Of course, these are unconfirmed rumors without anyone providing any evidence other than Mayo is supposedly saying this and threatening to drop the suit before the free agency window opens.
I find it hard to believe after Flores thing that Kraft would do this and leave smoking gun. The threat and timing though sound revenge is the motive,

They are saying it's Kraft encouraged tanking and then fired Mayo.
Unclear on more details but that's the gist of the story, lots of unanswered questions on the details.

I don't doubt something is going on, but I think we're getting way ahead of ourselves on just how big of a deal it is, and if it'll be a case that'll even be legitimate. Savage likes to grease up any report he hears.

I'd definitely be shocked if any conclusion of the case will happen within the next few months, even if it is legitimate.

I think this is it, bud. I think they had a wait and see deal in place, and MV went to the Jete interview, basically telling Kraft to **** or get off the pot. Kraft made a swift and decisive move and Mayo and his family are pissed because he got shafted.

Thanks for the even handed take.

The Rooney rule only requires interviews. If the interviews are bogus, that’s not a violation. Nor is it provable.

The only thing I could see that could get Kraft and the team in trouble would be being ordered, bribe or asked to lose.

If this is Kraft courting Vrabel while Mayo is employed should be a fine and a slap on the wris.

If it’s tanking 1 to 2 first round picks gone.

Well, and if they wanted to come after Patriots for that specific thing a lot of people would also have to look long at hard at ol Jerry Jones.

Well, if it’s this ^ , snd Kraft was stupid enough to leave ANY proof or paper trail he deserves whatever he gets just for being a buffoon.

This would be incredibly dumb to tell a coach you are about to fire to tank a game. If thats in any way true how could bob not fully expect that to come back to bite him in the ass

Mayo is getting paid for the full term of his contract

Kraft complied to the letter with the Rooney rule

Kraft has every right to get rid of Mayo anytime he wants without cause as long as he pays him

Kraft does not have to hire Rooney rule interviews.

Now if he told Mayo to lose and Mayo has proof that would be a huge problem especially in the era of NFL in bed with gambling institutions

Neither of these things seems like enough for people to say Kraft should be replaced.

guys I got a source, we talked during lunch.

Turns out Mayo went to the papers with a whole lot of dirt on Kraft and the vrable hire.

Heres the Tea.

Vrabel never went on an Israel vacation. Also Turns out that Kraft gave Donny some cash for his campaign.
