You know I kind of don’t mind the idea of Pep Hamilton at OC, unironically. Dude was solid with Luck and a **** OL… He won’t get any serious HC offers, probably… Worth thinking about

Other way around. They did not decide to implement WC because of AVP. They brought AVP in because the org wanted to run WC.
They brought in AVP because they interviewed 12 candidates over a month+, and others turned down offers and AVP was the only one that accepted the Pats' offer. Nothing to do with the WC offense.

You make it should like there was a plan. LOL. It was desperation.

If they hire just about anyone other than McD, then they need a high end QB coach. None of the other guys, Pees, Caley etc have ever worked with a QB. I'd argue they need to hire a top flight QB coach regardless.
The qb coach would be groomed to be the next coordinator as well

Besides it doesn’t matter what they wanted, Vrabel is here now and he is making those decisions.

Come on. He’s been out of the league for 2 years.
In the last 8 years he was one and done as a qb coach then went 7-26-1 in 2 years in Houston
He hasn’t even been in the NFL 5 of the last 8 years.

He was brought here as a token Rooney rule interview, chosen because he was unemployed and could interview right away.

It looks like Josh McCown will be available to hire this week if they want him. (Technically he can’t sign until Jan 20th but he can interview this week and agree to terms verbally)
Not that I can remember… he stands out to me because he coached Drake in high school and is the QB Coach for Sam Darnold’s revival season

He’s pretty green as a coach though so I’m slightly wary of it.
Josh McCown just entered the chat

I think he is considered one of the next best thing. Josh McCown could be our Ben Johnson.

Wrong.

Partial list of who Mayo interviewed last year.

Jerrod Johnson (Houston Texans quarterbacks coach) - WC
Thomas Brown (Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator)-WC
Shane Waldron (former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator)-WC
Zac Robinson (Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator)- WC
Dan Pitcher (Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach)-WC
Nick Caley (TE coach Rams)-WC

Seems hiring someone who was well-versed in the WCO was a priority.

After reading Lazar's write-up about possible Patriot OCs, I want us to stay very very very far away from the Rees guy.

We have a QB with a laser arm who needs to learn to play against NFL defenses. College concepts like the spread and RPOs are not going to cut it in the playoffs (i.e. Ravens, Dolphins). I thought he had a lot more experience than he has. He's only had one year to learn West Coast concepts and that was in Cleveland last year?

Uh-uh... no. Stay away.

Yea i'm not overly high on him either. I have nothing against him but strong preference is an experienced OC who has been there done that.

Sam Darnold folded like a pumpkin last night: did he come back to Earth. I like Josh McCown too him learning from HC KOC.

Link please stater.

Rob can you post the Offensive Coordinator list please.

I don't have a list, but Reiss' post has candidates for DC, OC, and special teams.

what did Maye run in college? Chip Lindsey was his OC, Shotgun spread, air raid one year, more balanced attack year two? Any idea what type of terminology he used? does his offense have any connection to pro-style offenses, or completely different schematically, in terminology, in philosophy

More than likely coordinators won’t be in place til after the Super Bowl

I think Pep Hamilton is worth a look at. OC not sure, but as an assistant then perhaps yes.
