Packing my bags tonite for my flight to London tomorrow night.

Anyone have any intel on
- when team gets there?….
- Any practice facilities laid on? … (maybe some royal‘s garden instead of Hyde Park this time. lol)

Our D is better at defending the pass than the run at this point, I think. Add Jacksonville's QB problems to that, and a sudden 37 points by the opposition becomes somewhat less likely than it might be if our pass D were not as good in the back end as it can be. (I also have a notion our pass rush might be effective, though I have no particular reason for thinking so other than the law of averages.) I am pretty sure the D has gotten a earful all week about their lazy ways: maybe that'll have the desired effect. I think it's actually more likely the Pats could get up a score or two, which could light a fire under our worrisomely sloppy and inattentive D. I expect, given the lack of talent and a QB starting his second game, that the Pats' offense will be uneven, but with Maye as QB, explosive plays are far more more likely than they were under Brissett. I actually think the Pats will win, but it isn't an easy game to predict, because of all the uncertainties on both teams. Whatever happens, I expect to enjoy the game - I am tempted to say, "for a change."

I appreciate the optimism brother! I try to go into each game with a clean slate and hopes that something can click in an area of weakness and we see improvement. Its harder with each passing week. Football is a game of inches though and we’ve gotten alot of hard breaks recently, a little good fortune can go a long way.

I was watching a pretty good review of the game on the -22 and what a lot of local guys are missing is the lack of motion. There really isn't much of it at all and that forces guys who aren't great at winning one on one to win.

Makes it easy on defense if they can play man. They need to do more motions to make it a little easier.

Is AVP being simplistic because of the line issues, or is that his style? Trying to give him benefit of doubt
The one issue playing man against Maye is he can run and defenders, unlike in zone, have their backs to the QB. It is also why I believe Baker needs a chance, him and Pop the 2 guys with some ability to beat man.
AVP getting quite a bit of criticism from guys like Kurt Warner and others that watch tape. Patriots don't seem to have the skill players to make the most out of his simple concepts. AVP a big concern going forward.

That's what I'm saying I'm souring on AVP for scratching Baker.

I agree. I did see someone make a decent point about that. It can sometimes be used as a crutch for young QBs, driving easy completions. Meaning, as a young QB, being forced to make tougher/harder decisions can pay off in the long run when the chips get down.

I do agree with the Baker thing, but if he isn't running the right routes then what good is it? They need to grab Gronk, Rice and Moss and then you would have an easier time lol.

It is not just Baker, how the WR's are being handled is confusing. Why was Boney-T inactive in the only game started by a QB that could actually get him the ball? If it was to prevent injury to facilitate a trade, Wolf is delusional. The only way the Pats get anything for him is if he does something positive on the field.

I have soured on AVP as a play caller, yes there are times that we have players NFL open its not as often as some stats make it seem. I don't feel like AVP is doing anything to scheme guys open with motion, the lack of assistance to the OT's is concerning. Maye looked very good to me and I will attribute that to AVP because he was able to calm himself down and his mechanics looked better than at UNC.

I am leery about the Jags because they have to really good pass rushers with Allen and Walker. They have talent on both sides of the ball so I find them to enigmatic. I feel like they out talent us for sure, but I think we win. LFG PATS!!!

I was at the game and it certainly felt that way. Also the sequence of the play calls (run-pass-pass) was completely predictable. Everyone around me agreed. The best comment was the guy a couple of rows back who shouted "Put McDaniels in!"

I think Polk should be put on the inactive list for the game ...
Too much potential ... needs to wake up and that should help.
Missing a series or 2 is a waste ...

I would like to see TT play. We might be 7 for 7 for new OL combinations this weekend. Adversity is the key word this year

Interesting concept. If you scheme guys open then you are kind of holding your QB’s hand. The basic play calling makes him read the field and make decisions. Doesn’t make for elite production but might be better for his long term development?

That’s definitely an optimistic POV though. It could also just be that AVP sucks.

According to Mayo, there “will be changes” to the players starting for the team.

Polk will be inactive and Tyquan and Baker activated yess.

TE E Engram had good game last week and they have Three WR's who should give our undermanned Defense a lot of problems. Like I said Drake could throw for 400yds and we still lose.

We don't have an undermanned secondary to cover their 3 WRs. You thought Barmore and Bentley were going to cover the Jags 3 WRs?
