Giardi: Latest on Judon - Two sides remain "far, far, far apart"

Judon wants a different contract and the team has not obliged.
Well if that's what you know, then I would say that a (new) FO should have the forethought to communicate at least once with one of their top players (I think he's their top player). Just a thought. Maybe a text even, like, "Hey, Matt, we're thinking of you but we want to leave that consideration until we're done considering everyone else on our list because we want to take the time to do it right. PS, this would be easier and better if you had representation". I'm not saying they are incompetent or anything if that's what has occurred, but pretty ****ing close imo.

Who really knows what's happening behind closed doors, maybe he wants too much guaranteed, maybe he wants more years that they're willing to give, maybe the teams being cheap, we have no idea.

So is paying Barmore prematurely.
Exactly. The team assumed the risk. If he doesn't play another down they totally f-ed themselves. If he misses a few games and has all-pro years the rest of his contract term the ROI is there.

The importance of a couple of extra wins this year is zero.
As a fan i tend to agree , i honestly am ok with another crap year record wise as long as we see some progress with the younger guys on offense and continued good play out of the established players that have been good.
Only thing I worry about is the locker room and how they might react to yet another 4ish win season, which is probably where we’re headed if missing both judon and barmore. plus im sure they all want judon here and if hes back to form that could make us somewhat respectable. But at the same time would it send the right message to reward judon after his recent behavior? Id say do whatevers best for the health of the locker room and establishing whatever culture we want to over worrying about wins but even that is a bit unclear at this point imo.

Just going by the reports the team offered Judon contracts before camp and he rejected them and his behavior this week.

Completely agree in theory. Sometimes players go rogue. Even in BBs time Law, , Deion, Seymour, ***ante, etc have gone public with their contract beefs.

Judon not showing up to practice.... what a joke.

Would have never dared not to show up under BB's reign. That's what happens when you put a clown for a head coach. Zero respect.

That’s ridiculous, there were plenty of hold outs during Belichick’s tenure. Some of them even had to “ feed their family.”

There's a difference between

1) staying home and holding out for a new contract, and

2) showing up to to camp and saying you'll do what you're contracted to do but then one day deciding you're gonna show up and not participate and making a spectacle of yourself sitting on the side before getting into an animated argument with the head coach as he sends you back inside and then coming back out to speak with the GM, all in the public eye

I'm not saying BB is perfect. He did a poor job the last few years and it was time to move on. But call a spade a spade - what's going on with Judon absolutely, 100% would not be happening with BB here. Not in this manner. Absolutely no shot.

There is NO way that BB would have Judons drama at his training camp.

Judon has been quiet lately. Lets see how long that lasts. Rumors of Kraft offering Ayuck 32 million APY cant sit well IMO.

This or something like it happened countless times when BB was here and happens on all 32 teams annually.

Players need to grouse to get paid… that’s the way NFL player contracts are designed. Aiyuk is moaning in San Fran, this is just a reality of the game.

Name a player among the countless of NE players who acted out like Judon. Randy Moss tried go there and was sent packing by BB.

I could care less what the other 31 teams do.

Laughable… Malcolm Butler groused in the media all season. After he got destroyed by Jay Cutler and a 5’6” undrafted WR against the Dolphins he threw his defensive coaches under the bus. Then he screwed his teammates over the week before the Super Bowl. All because Bill paid Gilmore instead.

What about Jamie Collins going rogue and calling his own blitzes and free lancing right before Bill traded him to the Browns. This after Collins was moaning about his contract.

Seymour, Law, Mankins, Asante, Moss… contract squabbles have been a constant.

Don't forget Deion Branch...first of many....the threads were endless here.

It is laughable.

When did Butler act out in training camp or practice? You claim to have countless examples, so lets have your best shot. In regards to Butler being benched for the Super Bowl. Yup, BB benched his starting Corner because he is not a Mayo/Tomlin appeaser. I appreciate your help in solidifying my point, but I really dont need your assistance.

Again, Collins was shipped out of town. Butlers benching and Collins getting the boot. Thats 2 strikes.

Seymour was traded. Mankins sat out until November. Moss was told to shut up or face the consequences of having BB getting rid of him, which he did. Gronk acted out unhappy with his new contract and BB lined up a trade to send Gronk off. Gronk shut his mouth and fell in line.

Nobody has claimed that players did not try to test BB.

They did and failed just like you have attempting to make Mayo out to be Belichick.

Wait.. you said it never happened. Now you’re providing the results of a bunch of times it did happen.

It happened, it happens and will continue to happen because NFL players have to make a spectacle of themselves to get any traction on a new deal.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

You can count Lawyer Milloy as the "first". Bill wanted to re-do his deal and he said no.

Hitting the Gin and juice early?

I stated that BB would never allow Judon like drama at his training camp. You decided to jump in with your countless examples as if BB allowed what Mayo didn't have the backbone to stop.

I stated that BB did not put up with players publicly complaining about money. Those that did were shown the door like Moss. Or, Gronk with BB having no 2nd thoughts of trading him to Siberia.

The majority of Pats players over the 20 some years of BB in charge respected and feared him.
