Expending valuable resources on a player like Aiyuk at this stage of the team's development would be a mistake, IMO. The Patriots have young WRs to develop and shoring up the OL should be a priority.
Pats haven't been able to draft top WRs for decades. If they can get a 1 or 2 for a 2nd rounder then pull the trigger.

But, I would say SF > NE by a sizeable margin atm.

I agree with you, but who cares about ATM? We suck ATM. The Pats are all about 2 years hence, and that is why the Pats are dragging their feet on Judon. Guys in their 30s are not what the Pats want unless it is a bridge like Brissett.

Over the past two season, Aiyuk was more of a threat to opposing defenses than Samuel especially last year. And yes, people had to gameplan for Aiyuk.

He was seventh in receiving yards (would have been sixth if DJ Moore didn't have one fluke 230 yard game. He was second in yards per reception. He was 8th in first downs for a receiver. Is he a top 5 WR? No. Is he top 10? Yes.
He benefited from being the last guy opponents had to account for when playing the 49ers. He gets wide open looks and lanes. Put him on a middling offense and he’s another 800 yard receiver.

Can we trade for Trent Williams instead? At least he’s a position of need.

Thats the whole point though, there ARE no good tackles available for trade. If there was the brandon aiyuk equivalent at LT available for a second rounder and change id want us to be all over that just like you probably even before aiyuk. But we’re not getting a great OT via trade or FA, we’ll have to use our first rounder most likely next year unless someone on the roster surprises.

Too much noise around the Patriots. It won’t happen.

He is gonna be a Steelers. That’s where he wants to go. 49ers are trying to get everything they can from Pittsburgh.

49ers are using us like Ridley used us.
Collaboration can get loud sometimes. You're discussing things with more people internally and those people are seeking opinions outside the building from time to time.

Why would they prioritize Deebo over Aiyuk… short answer, Deebo is the bigger matchup nightmare for opponents.

If he was the transcendent player people here are suggesting he was he would already be signed. The Vikings prioritized Justin Jefferson over their QB.

Sure but the question is would Aiyuk be good for the Pats, not whether the 49ers have a player they are prioritizing more.

I have no illusions about Aiyuk he's no Randy Moss (I had Aiyuk on my fantasy team one season he was pretty good but not God tier ). But he could be a really useful piece of the puzzle for our crap-ass offense. Could help in the locker room with the two rookies. There's a lot of potential upside. and if we have (or get) a good LT...who knows?

I'm not all in with him, but I'm just not all in on your reasoning here. I think he could be a good acquisition for the right price.

The 49ers haven’t won the super bowl with him.
Ah yes, the ridiculous logic rears its head once again. All of a sudden, Wozzy no longer considers football a team sport and declares that if a player hasn't won a Super Bowl, well then he must not be that good and certainly can't help the 4-13 Patriots!!!

You think Douglas, Polk, and Baker suck?
I think Polk and Baker are rookies and they can't be counted yet. They could be amazing or they could suck. We could have had and did have the same conversation about Thornton 2 years ago and Harry before him. Pop is in his 2nd year, we don't know if he can repeat his season. I like him, but he's not a 1 or 2. So you need that top guy in the NFL. Aiyuk is worth the pick and the contract in the NFL in 2024.

The 49ers haven’t won the super bowl with him.

Aiyuk has 393 yards and 1 TD in nine playoff games… he disappears like David Blaine in the playoffs because, again, nothing special.
Not with Deebo - Kittle or CMc either.

I won't be heartbroken if we don't get him, but I'll be psyched if we do!

Samuel was injured for games last year and when he played he clearly wasn't the same guy. And it was Aiyuk's best season. And in 2022, McCaffrey missed about a third of the season and Deebo missed four games and Aiyuk was the leading receiver on the 49ers that year. In fact, he has been the leading receiver for the team the last two years.

Kinda strange that opposing teams wouldn't account for a team's leading WR.

The pursuit of Aiyuk has been ongoing, and has been part of their effort to bring in a “ #1”WR all offseason, I don’t think it has anything to do with how Douglas, Polk, and Baker are looking.
My thoughts, while the Pats have been pursing Aiyuk since before the draft, and since the Pats want to be a run first team, if the current WRs were as good as reported, the need to continue to purse Aiyuk would go away and the Pats would better benefit by retaining next years draft pick. That said, I am a big Aiyuk fan and would love to see him on the Pats.

Aiyuk is not to WR’s what Trent Williams is to OT’s… it’s not close. I’m not sure Demario, Baker or other WR’s we already have arent as good as Aiyuk is. The WR’s have looked great in camp.

They haven't won with McCaffrey or Deebo either. Are you telling me you wouldn't trade for one of them. The Cowboys haven't won with CeeDee Lamb. You telling me if the Cowboys offered to trade him for a second and Bourne, you would say no?

Put Demario, Baker, Polk or Osborn on the 49ers and you’d get similar production. It’s the system and team more than Aiyuk possessing some skill that none of other WR’s possess.

The reason you deleted the rest of my post is because it makes yours above look foolish.

Aiyuk has disappeared in the playoffs, suggesting they won’t win a Super Bowl if they get rid of him, when they haven’t won a ring yet is making your head spin.

So they should be fine without him… what’s the point? Pearsall could be as good or even better.

Who has used the word great for any of receivers this camp? I've been to practice a bunch and several receivers look pretty good but none are Great. Pop is the closest but I wouldn't use the term great on him yet. I don't think I'd call Aiyuk great either but he'd be our best if the trade went down.

I Didn’t say aiyuk is trent, i said his equivalent at LT. I know our views of aiyuk differ but i think you can at least acknowledge he is a great wr. I would trade a 2nd and change for a great Lt in a heartbeat but there are none available.

I like how our wrs look but they have a long ways to go before being compared to aiyuk.
