Please oh please: Dallas WR Lamb Expected to Hold Out

While I want the team to trade for high priced WR’s that can produce 1000 yard seasons…it’s not the right move for 2024. The team needs to find out what they have at all positions before they can sign FA’s and or make those trades. 2025 is the time to spend to fill those holes.

I look at Lamb like I did Moss. He could be the final piece needed to put them over the top. There's a lot of other parts needed right now. I love this player and would love to have him, but paying him a **** ton of money doesn't put them at KC's level, or even make them divisional favorites. There's a lot of other components to be added/developed.
The final piece for whom? The Patriots are NOT one piece away at this point in time.

There might be some contenders willing to give away a 1st, in which case it would be a late 1st round pick.

I don't think the Patriots should be offering any more than a 2nd when their window for contention is at least 2-3 years down the road if it happens at all.

And I'm one of those in favor FOR paying elite WR money for a WR1 when the right opportunity arises.

does he have a brother, CeeJae Goat

Bill’s gone, you need to look at this like a completely new team.
Oh most definitely. I like the direction so far the organization is taking.. getting guys with actual talent.. who cares if they played punter in pee wee or HS..

This was said about Houston as well. As a former Mac apologist I had to understand as well that the QB play is so integral to the operation of a team. Houston like us, was thought as a rebuilding team with some pieces. CJ stroud wasn't expected to start year one. He won the job and took his team to the divisional round. Houston had an all new coaching staff as well. I believe that we are closer to becoming a team that can become competitive than not imo.

The last regime took guys with talent also, but they didn't all work out... I suspect the new regimes won't either.

I question some aspects of the new regime's team building process, like putting WR above OT among draft needs. Wolf also seems to have an unhealthy obsession with wingspan with offensive linemen, don't get me wrong it's a good thing to have, but not in place of actual athleticism.

But all in all I thought the players they did take in the draft were decent, if they turn out better players than prospects I'll have to admit Wolf knows what he's doing. His outside free agents could use some work though...

I'll take the new approach better that the approach the last few seasons. As I remember during the season you and I discussed this. I came around to your understanding of the qb.. if Drake is the guy then none of the other things matter as much. As you gave said great QB play can elevate guys and mask things.. you've been witness to this for two decades.

Nobody can win with bad QB play.

Mac wasn't "good," he wasn't even "average," he was "bad."

Turnovers are team killers, as long as Brissett and Maye can matriculate the ball down the field and not hand it to the other team this team should be fine.

Agreed, there's still a lot of holes to fill. Like I said, Lamb does not make them even favorites in the division, never mind the conference.

We know the Defense can hold it's own baring injuries: I think an Elite WR does the same for our Offense.

KC is is the king of the Conference: Buffalo is in Transition they need some Guys at @WR to pan out and step up *Minus Diggs* . Miami is Miami who always seems to fold at the end we might not be that far away.

I think we are a WR#1, a LT, another RB body, and maybe some help in the secondary away. This is assuming that Maye is going to be better than above average, and the coaching is at the very least at the level that it's been since 2020. Any regression in readiness/preparation is going to be problematic. This is keeping in mind that replacing 2023 Bill is not the same as replacing 2018 Bill.

I'm just not interested in bringing in someone else's prima donna. Lamb, Higgins, Aiyuk, Samuel are all top shelf. I'm not certain we have the supporting staff to take advantage of their skills. Let's just work with what we have this year. Lay a solid foundation. I think we have a good base but use this year to get things working smoothly. I Maye is any good, next year is the one to make the commitment and jump.

Let's discuss.

Do you think the Cowboys will trade him? Will Lamb cave?

What do you think they'll want in return?

Would you want him, Aiyuk or Higgins?

It's tough ... I fall under the side of bad timing, and this is my feeling for all the guys who are being talked about right now. I'm all for looking into making a move next offseason, but I'd rather they work out the kinks this year and not potentially waste one year of a contract. You'd essentially get a guy for one season to play with Brissett and then Maye, but then, even if he's extended, lose a year should they be competitive next season and then wish you had that extra year when the guy gets to the end of his deal. Especially if they're potentially finally at a point where they've got a shot to make a meaningful postseason run.

Whereas, maybe you have a guy for an extra year when you're on the verge of doing something special, rather than being one year behind because you got him one season too soon.

That's my twisted logic, but that's sort of been my mindset with some of those names this offseason.
