DRAFT 2024 2nd Round Pick - WR Ja'Lynn Polk

I'll ignore that this is a nonsensical response to what I wrote...

But if the players aren't any good, why did we resign K Bourne, M Onwenu, Hunter Henry, D Andrews? You would think we'd just let them go if they weren't good, but instead they were signed to lucrative contracts.

I'd throw in a few more like Rham Stevenson and Demario Douglas.

I'd also say there's a lot of young talent particularly on the OL that we don't know enough about yet.
I meant actual Draft Picks on Offense ok Onwenu and Rham we Drafted Pop like last week you reached for that one. Scratch the FA signings you said the Draft picks weren't that bad... on the Offensive side Me and many others beg to differ. We were dead last on Offense for a reason in 2023.

The Pats, Mayo and Wolf, in the 2024 draft tried to trade up for Xavier Worthy. Look it up.

It is better to be silent when you do not understand the subject matter.
That don't mean jack: Worthy doesn't play as fast as that combine 40 time remember John Ross?? I am glad the move never materialized we selected better guys.

Name someone good on Offense??

Onwenu, Andrews, Henry, Stevenson, Douglas.

This is just nonsense rambling. If you're going top dismiss the picks that hit then what are you doing here?

The point is this has been a rebuild. A lot of resources in those 3 drafts have been spent on offense, mainly the offensive line, with Onwenu, Andrews, Sow, Mafi, Strange, Hines, Steuber. We took WRs in Thornton, Douglas, Boutte, Nixon, QB Mac Jones, RBs Rham Stevenson, Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris. We took 16 guys. We needed even more help on defense and took 11 guys. They didn't have an infinite amount of picks.

Generally, in the NFL, if you find on 3.5 eventual starters or contributors in the draft every year, you're doing better than most of the rest of the league. 7 players every 2 years is what you're shooting for.

It does not matter what you think. Did I miss where you were hired by the Pats?

Mayo and Wolf think Worthy is a top athlete worth trading up for. Worthy is very similar to Thornton and Strong, who Wolf and Mayo think are top athletes.

But congrats on completely missing the whole point and then jumping in to spew rubbish.

What you didn't know where have you been??

I have been spending my time trying to figure out the Pats draft since I was told we were going to draft new athletic players and I can not find any great athletes outside of Maye. Keep double checking to see if I am missing anything but have not found any outstanding athletes yet.

Javan “Wheelchair” Baker?

Javan “Wheelchair” Baker?
4.54 sec 40. Baker is not an X. He fell to the 4th round for a reason, but I know everyone in Pats' Nation is trying to make Baker into the next Randy Moss. And if I say otherwise, I am a hater and a BB holdover. With a RAS score of 7.84 Baker will never WOW anyone with his athleticism, unless you want to ignore the facts. And Baker skipped the agility events as those would have lowered his RAS score even more. That demands repeating, a RAS score of 7.84 even after skipping the agility events.

But you believe Baker is an exceptional athlete. Please tell us why.

Hopefully we’re not looking back at these WR’s in a few years like the media and fans were hyping up Shawn Crable, Tyrone McKenzie and the most recent Cameron McGrone as mid to later round pick heroes.

Polk is getting ignored with Baker overshadowing him.

20-20 hindsight
It always is... It's tough for a college coach to say negative things about his own player before the draft. They rationalize the way everyone does: he's young, he'll mature and get it, when he gets drafted and shows up to OTAs or training camp he'll realize that the NFL is different and he needs to step up, the coaches and vets will be able to connect with and motivate him, player X was drafted and eventually woke up and exceled, why can't this young man, etc. No college coach wants to torpedo his own player.

We watched him?

Baker could not get on the field at Alabama so he transfered to UCF, a major step down in competition. So you watched him while playing at UCF and that leads you to think he will be an exceptional athlete in the NFL even though his testing numbers, like his relative 7.84 RAS score, were very mediocre? I hope he works out, but his college history and pre-draft testing numbers indicate he is a very average athlete. Some average athletes do well in the NFL, but it is not common.

Not getting on the field when you're behind Metchie, Jameson, Smith, Waddle, Bolden(these are the only guys I can think of right now) I don't think that is an indictment on Baker. What is the cutoff to be a good athlete using RAS? Lamb had a 7.44, Aiyuk had an 8.47, Polk had a 8.85. Not sure Polk is more actually more athletic than Lamb or Aiyuk.

You're in charge until your boss, the guy that signs the checks, says you're not.

If it's a collaboration, then it's no longer one man.

In which case Belichick isn’t responsible for any pick over his long history, because he always used scouts and scouting reports. If you don’t believe me go read War Room, as his philosophy is completely outlined there.

Other than that your response is bizarre, as you are arguing that the guy in charge isn’t responsible for the decisions made. And Belichick was a responsible for football decisions they made as anyone ever has been, and he would be the first to acknowledge that.

This ^ makes no sense.

It's pretty simple. BB was in charge of all football operations and football related decisions including personnel... until 2021 when Bob Kraft held an impromptu press conference saying the draft was becoming a collaboration. It was also around this time Elliot Wolf was hired.

If the owner says it's now a collaboration the dynamic changed... whether you like it or not.

It's hard to tell in a limited workout, especially when receivers like him and Polk refuse to run agility drills. That's maybe where his juice lays, in his ability to shake defenders out of their cleats. I'd say I was concerned about his level of compete after transferring in college but he doesn't seem to lack confidence. It wouldn't surprise me if he turns out as good or better than Polk.

Gabe Davis a former UCF guy have done well in this league he signed a nice contract with the Jags in FA. That makes me have faith in Bakers potential.
