DRAFT 2024 4th Round Pick - WR Javon Baker

Let’s hope Baker’s attitude and confidence makes him work hard to get open quickly. He seems to take too long to get open at the senior bowl 1 vs 1’s highlights. Jump ball seems to be his strength but he might not be able to get away with that against nfl CB.

He also has had too many drops throughout his college career... As in, like, Way too many...

He won't have to worry about enlisting like many other failed WRs before him did for 24 seasons.. rather him be himself.. if that fuels him let him be.. everyone has a way that hypes them up. Remember hot rod saying no one gives us respect on the defense.

This dude better be in the OROY conversation - because if he's got 3 catches for 20 yards in preseason, this is going to get very tiresome, very quickly.

Let him cook…

His releases (mostly), foot quickness, game speed, hand/eye coordination & catch radius make up for his 4.54 40 time. Stop worrying about that..Also, though he has some nice releases, he usually wins at the top of his routes. He obviously needs to refine his releases/choppy routes, gain strength & focus on drops (he improved over the last five games). He will get separation…

Hmmmm.. I'd rather have my #3 draft pick in the OROY conversation... but that's just me..

C'mon, McElroy - the dude's got straight line speed. Tied for top 24 for all players last year.

"He isn’t necessarily a burner as a straight-line runner..."

Another complimentary review:

Interestingly, that 21.7 MPH would have placed him in seventh place in the NFL last year:

Also interesting to note that we passed on the fastest WR in the NFL, DK Metcalf, and traded the #64 pick with the Seahawks for #77 and #118.

Those picks turned into Chase Winovich #77 and Hjalte Froholdt. Winovich never saw a second contract with New England and Froholdt didn't even make it to a second season! Genius draft moves!

Meanwhile Metcalf has 2 pro bowl selections and amassed over 5,300 receiving yards and 43 TDs in 5 seasons with the Seahawks. Lovely return on investment... for them!
