Overall I'm OK with this draft. If Maye pans out and everyone else busts, it's a GREAT draft. But in the 4th taking a G when TJ Tampa, a CB at a position of NEED, who many thought would be a 2nd rounder, was there to be had. THAT pick would have made this draft a HR for me .

A solid B. Cautiously optimistic, I am glad we stayed at 3 and took Maye. I also am glad they took 2 Wr’s, excited to see what they can do . Addresses all our needs !!

Can't really grade anything yet. It's just a crapshoot at this point in time, Maye included.... Imagine this board back in 2000 asking "Who?" when Belichick drafts Brady. Or Chiefs fans scratching their heads when the Chiefs picked Tyreek Hill in the 5th round....

Everyone was ecstatic when Mac Jones was selected in the 1st round and all the pundits called for NE to draft him in their 'oracle' mock drafts, dabbing him 'Mr. perfect fit' in NE. We all know how that ended...

In short, way too early. Pray and hope for the best, expect something less.

This!

That's about as much as we could have hoped. Could have been better, could have been worse. Time will tell.

I give them an A-. I like the focus on offense and the order in which they did so. We needed to address QB, WR, and Oline and we did. I also like the late picks at CB and TE. I’m not digging the Milton pick but recognize I could be wrong if the team is able to develop him into a Taysom Hill type of role.

I’ve learned through experience not to squabble over the specific players selected. Only time can tell us if we did well in that regard.

Fans often get upset bc the media player rankings make them feel like we reached for players. Those rankings are all but meaningless. Every team has different values on players. Every team has hits and misses. Every fan who imagines themselves in GM role does the same.

Lets just hope the guys we picked turn out to be good players. As far as Maye goes, he’s a 21 yr old developmental project. He’s going to sit the bench while Jacobi and Zappe battle it out for QB1. I think both can succeed if this draft turns out to be as solid as I hope it is.
I agree with everything you said except for the Zappe part. He’s not battling anyone for the QB1 spot. He’ll be fighting an uphill battle just to remain on the roster come TC.

I think Zappe has a slim shot to stick if he balls out this summer, but he has ZERO shot at QB1.

Right now I have him behind Brissett, Maye, Rourke and maybe even Milton. IMO he’s firmly on the outside looking in but let’s see how TC plays out.

I’ll give the draft a B+ for now as we addressed our most glaring needs on O and added a DB where we might be considered a little thin. Maybe we didn’t draft all the BPAs in each round according to nerdy mock drafts, but that’s why we have an actual scouting dept doing the real analysis and not the Mel Kipers/forum posters of the world.

The reality is we won’t be able to give this draft class a real objective grade until the 2025 season is over.

I voted B-

They get an A for Maye and Baker.

The rest were either reaches or players that won't even have an impact on this team.

They better not plan on starting Maye if they want to give this kid a legit chance to succeed. They need to get a true LT before they are ready to do that.

Cousins, IMHO I am in the category of....see ya Wolf. Posters do not realize it has been his Drafts and FA acquisitions for some years now. He rots.
The mantra this year in the Draft was stick and pick. Why did he not after round one? His claim to infamy this year was taking Polk over McConkey when your rookie QB needs someone with speed who can get open. Another great poster said we got a smaller Parker in Round two. I hope he and I are wrong.
He never traded for picks in this Draft. He just jockeyed around for positions. Basically his ineptitude in Free Agency made our Draft picks a live or die proposition and they have to win right now. Very dumb. We had the resources. He was afraid to step up other than Ridley and he cheaped out.
Color me disappointed.
Remember upon the League average only 15%-19% of every Draft class makes it to their second contract. So which two (say three) do you think will stick from this years?
DW Toys
You really believe that the last 2-3 drafts prior to this one were also Eliot Wolf drafts? So what was Bill doing in those off seasons?

Evidence, LOL, this is PFF, we don't need no stinking evidence. Its conjecture, its based on wolfs saterday afternoons press conference (i believe) were he speaks about so many OTs coming off the board so quickly that he had to make a move just to get wallace before another team grabbed him. I'm not going to spend time looking for the article which from NBC, its an opportunity cost for me.

That's actually evidence! Yes, stretched a bit. I didn't watch so thanks.

I did a -B. Nobody know what these kids will do until camp. I’ll be disappointed if we’re into August and nobody has popped yet.

I assume Maye’s arm alone will be a novelty after these past 3 years.

You guys are way too easy. I give them a B-. Maye was a no brainer. Our #2 pick seemed a bit desperate after so many better WRs went off the board. And what the hell was the purpose of trading down from 34? We should've been trading up for a better WR. That higher 4th rounder turned into a not so great Guard?! We also got caught with our pants down on OT. We still have no #1 WR and no LT! At least they could've gone for 1 of these positions by trading up. Very Belichickean draft. Way too conservative and very questionable picks above consensus . We're going to need at least 2 full drafts to turn this offensive trainwreck around so maybe it won't matter much but they hardly set the world on fire with these picks. Meh.

Or it means you are a lousy or timid negotiator.
So we left it up to the Bills(perennial conference rival) to decide if we get our desired true #1 WR?! This is leadership?! Stupid, stupid, stupid. I might be too generous with my B-.

B+

If Maye is a top 10 QB, that alone pushes the grade to an A.

Things to evaluate/ second guess:

Leggette vs Polk - the report is the Pats tried to trade up for him. Not sure you can blame them if they couldn't find a trade partner. It will be interesting to track their careers.

Polk vs OL - the Pats missing out on the round 2 OT run is one of the biggest criticisms. Should they have taken Paul at 37?

Wallace vs 2nd Round OTs - Should they have traded up to try to get Fisher, Rosegarden, or Suamatia? This will be interesting to watch. I don't think any of those three were sure fire plug and play.

Robinson - Drafting yet another guard at the top of the 4th? Barth and Lazar anticipate that the LG position is an open competition. If Robinson solidifies himself as the starter, the pick will make sense. Could be similar to the value pick that Shaq Mason was. If he's a career back up, other needs should have been addressed.

Baker - They waited till the second pick in the 4th round to double up on a position. Everyone loves this pick. He compliments Maye's strengths. Hard to second guess this one.

Grade B or C, maybe:

I am not a scout, and I don't know how to grade the draft. On paper it does not look that great since the Patriots did not land a blue ship OT or WR and took a huge gamble at QB..or at least it seems that way. So it would appear that the Patriots head into this season with no solid answer at LT and no number one WR.

That being said, I have confidence that Wolf knows what he is doing and knows how to pick offensive players. Maybe "Slow" Polk is fast on the field and maybe Wallace can switch to LT. Maybe Baker turns in "Baker the Touchdown Maker". And "Maybe" Maye can step right in.

Training camp is going to be very interesting. Last year I was one of the first, in the general public, to notice Pop Douglas. I can't wait to see the crew this year...if that Patriots do not ban me from practices.

I hear the argument that if Maye works out, it is a good draft. No one will argue that the QB pick is the most important one, but it is ridiculous to suggest that the other picks do not therefore matter in our evaluation of what is (I fervently hope) a probationary group leading the dance. If they fail in the draft choices subsequent to the QB pick, they fail in draft choices subsequent to the QB pick. The one has nothing to do with the other; both are important and must be taken into account in our evaluations of the HC/GM et al. I am baffled at the irresponsibly low bar and soft evaluation we are bringing to bear on the team's new leadership. We should bring a firm, empirical approach to our evaluation of the new leadership, whatever the pc punctilios and softheaded Oprahesque and weak-sauce mores of the time might urge upon us.

FOUR solid additions is a fine next step in our first rebuilding year.
