I hear the argument that if Maye works out, it is a good draft. No one will argue that the QB pick is the most important one, but it is ridiculous to suggest that the other picks do not therefore matter in our evaluation of what is (I fervently hope) a probationary group leading the dance. If they fail in the draft choices subsequent to the QB pick, they fail in draft choices subsequent to the QB pick. The one has nothing to do with the other; both are important and must be taken into account in our evaluations of the HC/GM et al. I am baffled at the irresponsibly low bar and soft evaluation we are bringing to bear on the team's new leadership. We should bring a firm, empirical approach to our evaluation of the new leadership, whatever the pc punctilios and softheaded Oprahesque and weak-sauce mores of the time might urge upon us.
Yes, each pick should weighted differently.

IMO, for a team that has a severe need for a QB, getting a top give you at least a passing grade.

I give almost zero weight to 6th and 7th round pick who are very unlikely to make the team.

For me, I don't rate in terms of who I wanted. In any case, I expect that our team does indeed know what it is doing, much better than I do. If they pass on Player A in the 4th, I consider that 31 other teams have also passed, and that the team value that player lower than others, possibly because of team schemes.
========
In any case, I think that we did GREAT at securing two WR's that should solidify the unit (which still lacks a #1, that is for next off-season).

Wallace is a player who, by all accounts, except that of posters here, should be a solid player who can play across the line. To me, I expect that we have a swing OT for 2025 that might be able to back-up at LG. Again, given our issues at LT AND LG, Wallace is a welcome addition.

I don't at all mind that didn't pick the dregs that were left at OT. We will use our first for our LT next year. We needed a long-term swing man, and we got him.
================
I understand all the rejection of Robinson. He needs to gain some weight to be the RG-only player the staff thinks we need. Well, we POSTERS reject that choice of how to look at the future need at RG. They long to see us run behind Onwenu and Robinson. We want to Onwenu to move to RG. I guess that if we posters are right, this is a wasted choice. Of course, this makes Wallace an even better choice since he can move to RT. But I could see giving us a B- for this pick.
=====
For me, given the A+ for Drake, the weighted average is A-.

It is a pleasure to read a post so well argued. I will stick with my C-, but your post makes me think I may be a bit too hard a grader. I may not give sufficient weight to he apparently wise decision to draft Maye, for example.

Milton is making the team, and will be seen as one of the steals of the draft.

You guys are way too easy. I give them a B-. Maye was a no brainer. Our #2 pick seemed a bit desperate after so many better WRs went off the board. And what the hell was the purpose of trading down from 34? We should've been trading up for a better WR. That higher 4th rounder turned into a not so great Guard?! We also got caught with our pants down on OT. We still have no #1 WR and no LT! At least they could've gone for 1 of these positions by trading up. Very Belichickean draft. Way too conservative and very questionable picks above consensus . We're going to need at least 2 full drafts to turn this offensive trainwreck around so maybe it won't matter much but they hardly set the world on fire with these picks. Meh.
The higher fourth-rounder was Baker.

Actually the guard was the higher of our 4th round picks, but we got the other 4th rounder from that trade down, and that is where they drafted Baker.

He wouldn’t have been there with our own 5th round pick.

FOUR solid additions is a fine next step in our first rebuilding year.
I count only three that will likely see the field a lot next year: Wallace, Baker, and slow running Yolk. Maye should sit most of the year.

We also got caught with our pants down on LT.
Yes. Absolutely. Fixed it for you gratis.

So any grade higher than a C is fraudulent. Maybe a C+, because I like Maye’s girlfriend that he’s had since the seventh grade.

C-

This poll shows who follows the draft here and who doesn't.
Sorry, not sure what this means.
Could you please elaborate?
I assume you are saying that those who gave it a better grade than you C- don't follow the draft?

Some day Mayo and Wolf will look back at this draft as a bunch of mistakes and missed opportunities and be embarrassed.

Mayo is a greenhorn. And Wolf played it too safe.

They do have some gold in there tho. Mr Joe Milton III, the long term answer to quarterback.

It means the same phucking idiots who lambasted me for daring to criticize Bad GM Belichick for the 2015 second round OBVIOUS unathletic pick of Jordan Richards are now today applauding like trained seals.

That was the time I knew Belichick had lost his analytical judgement and was instead relying on character especially through the interview.

It only took me 5 minutes on the toilet with the Sporting News draft magazine in 2015 to know that Tyler Lockett was the slam-dunk pick there and that Jordan Richards was an obvious bust. But the "too early to judge" and "BB knows more than you" crowd here was very loud back then.

Right. The incorrect part was that the pick they got for the swap was used on the guard, when that was the pick they used for Baker. They moved up from 137 to 110.

I saw some multiple people average draft rating and we were 1st for the AFC east ...
if those opinions mean anything. Here is one of them ... I think we at least get a B+

Since when has a 4.52 40 been considered slow for a WR? It's around the required speed mark. Baker ran 4.54 and people are positively excited about him.

I favored taking Mitchell but we have who we have. I'll wait and see how they play in pads before writing anyone off.

Why is picking Maye at #3 given an A+? If any of the other 31 GMs were running the NEP, almost all of them would've done the same thing. Therefore, that = a C; no more, no less.

It's like giving Chiarelli an A+ for Seguin & Hamilton.
