BGC 2024 WR/PTP Thread

Once again, I decided to look up 100m HS times for tons of WRs. Not a ton. Man, UW had a frickin' track team. No one's really jumping out at me as a draft Beankie (a steal), as all are expected to go Day 1/2 except the smurfs Gould and Cowing (maybe). Looking forward to how they all do in the Combine/Pro Days, and I hope to see some 3cones and 20shuttles. After the last 2 years, hard to get excited, but I'd be content with most of these guys.

Anthony Gould 10.49 nw -Stock went up after Shrine Bowl PR TD
Xavier Worthy 10.55 (+2.7)
Rome Odunze 10.67 (+1.0)
Roman Wilson 10.68 (+1.3)
Jacob Cowing 10.71 (+1.0)
Jalen McMillan 10.73 (+1.1)
Ja'lynn Polk 10.89 nw

Ladd McConkey 10.8?
Ricky Pearsall 11.02?

Sturdivant returning but has 10.49 (or 10.39 with +5.7)
Dominic Lovett returning but 11.04 ht in 9th Grade
Julian Fleming returning but 10.95 nw

Is WR Devontez Walker a sleeper?? Josh Downs had good Rookie year for the Colts last year.

I'm not sure anyone is sleeping on Tez Walker.

He's a top 10 receiver in most peoples rankings at would likely be a first round pick any other year. It's just a deep class. He won't make it out of the second round.

Is one of the questions regarding Malachi Corley the level of competition that he faced?

My main question about him is how limited and basic his route tree was, although the level of competition is also a factor along with his catch radius.

McConkey after the combine is firmly in the middle of 1st round.

They're saying Keon Coleman will drop because of his 4.61 40. If he drops to the top of the 3rd, he's a steal. Smooth athlete. Snags the ball. Strong hands. He shows great functional speed on the field as he can haul while looking silky. He's a bit like Jerry Rice in terms of having a slow 40 but actually running much faster than other WRs in live play. During the gauntlet, he was the fastest, 20.5 mph.

Rome Odunze last on the field in the Combine with 5 attempts in the 3cone trying to run faster than his 6.88 (kept hitting the far cone).

“For me, [this is] about being able to compete against generations before, generations to come and be able to see where I stack up against all those people. I feel like it’s a one-time thing, a thing you can only do once in your life, so I just wanted to do it to the fullest. It’s something I feel like I can excel at, so that’s why I decided to do it.”

EDIT: 4.03 20Shuttle holy crap!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up being the best wr in this draft. His body control is amazing. If you watch his highlights he’s got some good stuff in there that can’t be taught. The way he turns his body while maintaining the route in coverage is special. Reminds me of Hopkins a bit.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if he's my WR2. I love him.

Keon Coleman is N'keal Harry MKII

He just cannot seperate. There are 10 other WR's I'd take ahead of him.

Just watching NFL Network and they say that Coleman ran (21.71mph) on a go route at the combine and was 2nd fastest among group 8 WR's whatever that means. So, he may deserve a better spot.

I rest my case on Mr Worthy you honor what a 40 time.
He's skinnier than Boney T and just as skinny as Devonta Smith. As we've seen with the latter, one can be successful if they've got it upstairs (with some luck).

I riding on the Devonta Smith ceiling for Worthy I want nothing to do with that Bust Tyquan.

Many thinks he going to excell at the next level I'm riding his hype train .

40’s not everything. However, had he performed the 3 cone and done well he may have done himself a favor. He’s in no position to be picked by the Pats in the 1st or 2nd but personally I’d consider him in the 3rd if he fell that far.

That's functional speed. He's not going to win a 40, but when he hits his top speed, he has the athleticism to maintain his balance and make that catch.

I want to see Thornton 1 more year under a new offense and QB. I’m willing to give him the 3 year eval treatment. Still want to see them bring someone else in though.
Waste of time it's like saying Boutte will make it when you wish upon a star. I have seen enough from both to tell me that they both stink!
