Who would be the next GM?

If Bill gives up GM duties then I doubt Kraft hires someone within the organization. Kraft would be getting hoodwinked if that happened.
It just doesn't matter. Every GM in the NFL confers with the coach about optimal players for the scheme

Bob Kraft

Jerry Jones took command and look at the Boys. Dallas has good WRs coming out of the woodwork. Just hire a puppet HC and the Pat's are back in business.

Germany is back on.

Mike Lombardi or make a huge offer to Howie Roseman.
I would be very careful with Slowik as head coach. He has had one good year and most of his experience is on defensive side of the ball

I will be glad if a GM could veto a Jordan Richards pick.

That one pick is the worst pick BB ever made, and it looked bad at the time.

Who made the Chris Canty pick?

That was prior to BB and was the worst 1st round pick ever.

This is satire right?

Guess what? Every GM makes horrible picks. Go look back at our division rivals. Look at the picks. Look at the coaches through the years. Look at their GMs.

This is so common with every NFL franchise.

The confidence we had with a Belichick team in the playoffs would be tossed away for a guy learning how to win.

Things like McDermott's 13 seconds fiasco in KC never occurred on Belichick's watch. Those kinds of things always happened to the other team (like Troy Brown's strip of the Brady interception against San Diego or the Butler interception against Seattle or the dumb Matt Ryan sack when all he had to do was get a FG to ice the game).

Don't be surprised if Bill stays but lets hope they reach out to someone outside the organization for the GM duties.

Plenty of candidates on here. That @Triumph dude seems to know what's required. What's the worst that could happen?

Oh I agree, and I am not one of the people here who question so many of his picks as a knee jerk reaction.

I am an amateur here, unlike our resident “experts”.

Duron Harmon was a head scratcher at the time, but turned out to be a great pick.

My issue with Richards is that it looked bad at the time, and the skepticism proved to be warranted.

What did BB see in him and was there no pushback?

We don’t need “yes” men here.

For what it's worth.....

2023 #3 draft pick salary slot........4 yrs/$35.2 mill ($8.8 mill average/yr....$6.9 mill first yr cap hit)

Note: Average salary for starting Left Tackle in NFL in 2023 is $8.8 mill

There will always be reach picks. Mapu is one. Tyquan is another. Coaches fall in love with players and they get intel that other teams like them. So, for instance, Tyquan's college receiver's coach was (and maybe currently is) the Steelers' WR coach. So the Patriots jump and grab a guy they really like because they think he's going 2 picks later (even if most teams have him taken a round or two later).

This is just something that always happens.

It happened with McCourty, Mankins, even Thuney was thought to be a later rounder.

It obviously happened with Dugger too.

But remember, we've also taken guys that have "fallen" to us who were projected much higher. For instance, Malcolm Brown and Josh Uche. Sometimes there's a reason why those guys fall and it's not smart to just follow the consensus of what everybody else thinks.

Wilfork was also obviously a guy who fell to us, and so did Gonzalez. It's all a mystery really. Why some of these guys pan out and others don't.

When Belichick trades up into the 2nd round, it usually is someone he feels very strongly about (Gronkowski, Barmore). If he's trading back, he doesn't see value.

I can’t get past the Trey Lance debacle. They are skating because of Purdy, but that was truly an awful trade.
I always had the impression their trading up for Trey Lance was a John Lynch-Kyle Shanahan decision.

NOT a playoff game.
Buffalo 47 Patriots 17
Bills never punted

Losing to Tenessee at home. Lots of dumb play calling.

Last 2 playoff games under Bill’s leadership
