Tom Curran speculates on if Mac Jones will get Downgraded to third string

Exactly.

11-5 minus 5 games is 6-10. Now that 5 game loss doesn't look so great anymore.
But when TB came back they went 10-6 and the team was almost the same, just lost a few players. 16-0 was just an unbelievable season with some luck going our way in a few games.

I wonder if Gronk is still a Pats fan as in his favorite football team and cheering for us to win. Or is he a Bills fan now since that's his hometown? Honestly not sure.

I think Brady is a Pats fan.
Gronk is not a fan at all.

GRONK knew football, per Belichick, but Rob Gronkowski the analyst apparently does not understand things like the waiver wire. [He'd have to get past 22 teams to get to Cleveland.]

Gronk is slowly turning into Asante Samuel 2.0.
Yea hes not as acerbic as A$ante but agree he does seem to be a bit over the top with his criticism. Thing about Gronk is hes a little passive aggressive which I cannot stand.

At least A$ante didn't fake-retire. He just left. That's an extra level of ********, because the Patriots certainly could have used him in 2020 if he was going to play.

Yeah. Need 4 full accrued years I think to be exempt from the waiver wire.

Definitely quite a bit of luck that's for sure. I think any 16-0 team would need it.

There definitely seems to be some bitterness towards the organization (probably Bill) but I don't really get why. Unless he is bent out of shape about Bill trying to trade him to Detroit I don't know where his resentment would come from. He won a few rings here and basically engineered his exit perfectly for himself and won another ing down in Tampa. Maybe Gronk really didn't like not being able to display his full personality here but I didn't see much difference in that here vs Tampa. He seemed to be the same guy there he was here.

Downgraded to 3rd string but taking 1st team reps… makes sense

Gronkowski says Mac is not respected in NE does he still talk to players on the team? How does he know this?

Not many players left from his time here. Andrews (who would be my guess if he did talk to someone), Bentley, Slater, Guy, Trent Brown, and Jon Jones are the only guys I can think of.

I thought he meant it as the fans don't respect Mac. Admittedly I didn't listen to the clip.

Edit: I read the quote now, Gronk basically said “Bill doesn’t respect him because he benched him more than once, he should ask for his release”

Many highly regarded QB's coming out of college have completely failed in the NFL with or without great coaching. Why is it so hard to believe that MAC is just a bad NFL QB...with or without weapons?

He very well may just be a bad QB. Doesn't mean how Bill handled him was how you should handle a young QB on a rookie contract.

Doesn't excuse bill or inspire much confidence anyone would want him in charge of whomever we draft next.

I mean Bill did try and trade him before the season. Alot of guys like amendola seem to resent Bill.

Had Gronk not threatened to retire before the season we never hang banner 6. And then after the season was when Brady put his house on the market and took the one year deal after Bill gave him an insulting offer.

So he probably saw the writing on the wall.

Mac is high floor low ceiling just as he was predicted to be. When his team stinks (and they do) so does he. When they don’t stink he is decent. Nothing more, nothing less. That’s what happens to QBs like that.

He is not the guy because he is not a leader and can’t elevate his team. Sucks but that’s life in QB purgatory for any team.

Just gotta get off the mat and try again in the draft.
The floor is not high

He was never being traded to Detroit. Gronk was being a ****, which he admits and belichick needed to know if he was coming back or not. The pretend tradecto Detroit was how he forced his hand.

Cam Newton was getting 1st team reps in 2021 too.

honestly I wouldn’t read too much into it. There was 1 practice before the bye. I think it was just a matter of keeping the setup they had currently and not changing everything in 1 day.

The coaches will regroup during the bye and they will come up with the plan they want to move forward with from the Giants game.
