Tom Curran speculates on if Mac Jones will get Downgraded to third string

Mac was a lot of things.......quality analyst was not one of those things......that and the chip on his shoulder towards Bill, well

who is kay adams, BTW?
Kay Adams was actually co-host of Quick Slants w/ Curran back in the day. Had a fling w/ DA in 2014.

I'm not a Mac fan. I legit said BOB QB is garbage.

You Act very childish that if someone doesn't just blame 100% of every issue on Mac Jones or look at things from a wider picture they "ArE a MaC JOneS dEfenDer"

Mac Jones is done, he's bad. now how did we go from a promising rookie who made good reads to here is all I'm looking at.

That was a coaching master class by McDaniels but was also added by a soft schedule.

Still don't see that as an argument that somehow Patricia was a great OC and we just didn't see it and should be absolved of all blame. Things aren't black and white

We aren't in the situation we are in, in a bubble. If Grier or zappe tear it up I'll agree I was 100% wrong and this team really is great and Patricia was some offensive genius held back by Mac Jones. I don't think that's going to happen. It's going to be more of the same.

Mac may still have ended up where he is now even if Bill hired a real OC. But the question I ask is would you be comfortable with handling whomever we draft this year the same way?

If the answer is no then you actually agree with me.

Just because the offense sucks this year doesn't mean hiring Patricia/judge a DC and special teams coordinator to coach offense for the first time was the right decision and that they were actually good. Every season is it's own entity.

But I'm sure you'll respond with some lame corky lover insult.
Many highly regarded QB's coming out of college have completely failed in the NFL with or without great coaching. Why is it so hard to believe that MAC is just a bad NFL QB...with or without weapons?

This is why the "they went 11-5 in 2008 with Matt Cassel" thing always annoys me. That roster was largely the same as a roster that went 18-1 the year before. Throw the stats out between Brady and Cassel because they weren't even remotely close. A 5 game swing is huge in a 16 game season. Take most playoff teams from any year and swap 5 wins for losses and 90% of the time that team is no longer in the post season.
That is a good argument, except that I don't think the Patriots were winning 16 games with Brady in 2008.

Take a look at their losses
(1) Miami 38-13. The wildcat game. Maybe Brady manages to keep things close enough for the defense to figure things out and keep the keep under control. But that looks like a loss
(2) Chargers 30-10. Looking at Brady in the NFCCG against the Chargers I am not handing this to Brady
(3) Colts 18-15. Okay, Brady swings this one
(4) Jets 34-31(OT). Cassel had 400 yards pasing and 62 rushing.
(5) Steelers 33-10. Cassel had 4 turnovers. Fair to hand this to Brady since he owns the Steelers.

So Brady gains you 2 wins over Cassel with the 2008 Patriots. Which gives you 13-3 or basically an average season for 2010-2019 Brady.

So now you're implying Bill's a snitch? Lol

Come on man, think a little. Belichick and the Krafts have a very long relationship. Bob gave Bill his chance. They both benefitted from it. These are serious men. They'll have an open and honest conversation about how it's best for the team (for so many reasons) for them to part ways. Bill gets his $ due from his contract and the option on how best to terminate the relationship to save face. He can choose to go elsewhere if he wishes. They can openly talk about how best to leave the team for the future. Bill has never let out so much as a comma from what's discussed behind closed doors. He's not about to start now. Even Bill realizes that it's over.

You've moved the goalposts and it's clear why. You said Kraft should order him to tank and then fire him on Black Monday. That's quite different from hashing things out mano y mano re. BB's departure. But you can bet that RKK ordering Belichick to lose the final seven games will never be broached. However congenial things seem now there would be too much at stake leaving that unethical (in the league's eyes) skeleton in the closet.

At the end of the day these men are in a high-stakes BUSINESS relationship also involving egos, reputations, legacies and dependents. Regardless of how much money Kraft might throw at him, leaving on someone else's terms is bound not to sit well with BB however it's polished for public consumption. Things change and ordering a tank job would be beyond reckless on Kraft's behalf. That's not to mention the difficulty pulling it off without appearing so obvious as to invite scrutiny.

Gronk has some interesting takes on Mac and BB.

Also Kay Adams. That is all….

"Bailey Zappe isn't even close to Mac Jones' level." Well there you go.

Yes, I was being a bit dramatic to get the point across vs writing a dissertation. Point stands: tank & move on from Bill (obviously w/ his knowledge). This has been done before many times. League did nothing.

Of course there are egos involved. We just don't know how Bill feels about this. It's possible he's ready to hang it up.

Difficulty pulling it off? You mean like going 2-8 in the first 10 games?

Let's see:
1. Let your most efficient WR walk and replace him w/ an injured JuJu.
2. Bring in a few OL jags during the offseason to address what everyone knew was a top priority.
3. Do almost nothing in the draft to address the offense until Rds 4-7.
4. Have no depth at RB.
5. Have no quality depth at QB.
6. Bench Mac multiple times during games.
7. Bench productive receivers over non-productive receivers.
8. Bench/cut veteran DBs over subpar DBs.
9. Continue w/ Achord in ST and for effect, throw in the toxic Judge.
10. Numerous questionable calls during games.

Should I go on? It looks to me like this is a well disguised tank. Just continue doing the same: bench Mac (nobody will question it), leave Brown out (nobody will question it), and give JuJu more snaps (nobody will question it). Go ball.

Instruct BB not to win another game, then can him on Black Monday. Do you see any potential problem with this? Think about it.
“Every club is expected to make a good faith effort to win every game,” he said in a statement. “The integrity of the game, and public confidence in professional football, demand no less. An owner or senior executive must understand the weight that his or her words carry, and the risk that a comment will be taken seriously and acted upon, even if that is not the intent or expectation. Even if made in jest and not intended to be taken seriously, comments suggesting that draft position is more important than winning can be misunderstood and carry with them an unnecessary potential risk to the integrity of the game.”

Starting ANY of the Patriots QBs is not making a good faith effort to win games.

Really anybody is or want to be??

The hope for the number 1 pick lives.
I wasn't going to watch the Giants game but I definitely will now. We can guarantee Mac will find a way to lose it literally and figuratively.

I’m not sure he can do both. If he literally loses then we figuratively win. If he literally wins then we figuratively lose.

I wonder if Gronk is still a Pats fan as in his favorite football team and cheering for us to win. Or is he a Bills fan now since that's his hometown? Honestly not sure.

I think Brady is a Pats fan.

Yeah looking at the common games between Devito and Mac:

Raiders: Mac 0TD Vito 1TD
Cowboys: Mac 0TD Vito 2TD
