Per Breer: Mac Jones "infuriating" coaches with decision making

I’d rather see them overpay a little to extend homegrown talent than burn all that cash in free agency again.
It's glaring how many home grown players not named Brady get to a second contract here. Dugger and Peppers to me are the pillars in the secondary. Barmore had been a force his option definitely gets picked up.

Insults aside, which you seem to relish, your statement is impressively ironic given you chose to die on Mound Corky. You also led a brigade of homers trying to shut down posters critical of BB and Mac. You were successful, with your constant whining to Ian, in getting posters that didn't share your puritan homer views banished. Now, you want to be reasonable, yet continue your attacks. Like I said you're hilarious.

What's hilarious is your predilection for false accusations. If you put as much energy into learning about football as these silly post-adolescent tirades you'd garner more respect.

You know it's true. A got the scoop from a reliable source (rip).

You know it's true. A got the scoop from a reliable source (rip).

Be specific. Lay it all out in detail, whatever the hell it is you're insinuating. Otherwise, grow up and STFU.

He was not a Top 5 QB in 2001, 2003 and 4. The Pats actually have a very strong run game and O-line that allowed Brady make the throws he needed to. After 2004, yes, he became and remained a Top 5 QB.
This so false it is pure ignorance or lying. Did you even watch him play? Parroting this garbage should be a banneable offense for a Pats fan.

2001: Pats averaged 3.8 yards per run. Who was this probowl RB? Brady was a game manager but you have to account for him being a backup with backup reps for training camp and first 2 games. He was also very clutch especially in the playoffs. How many game managers have won a SB first year starting?

2002: Brady led league in TDs. Talk about a game manager lol. Running gave averaged 3.8 again and a total of 9 TDs. Some strong running there.

2003: Running game gave a strong 3.4 yards per run and another 9 total TDs. All world running game here. Brady scored 32 points in the SB with 3 TD. Defense gave up the most points for a winning SB team up to that point at 29 points. Some game manager indeed. Brady was 3rd in MVP voting after Manning/McNair.

2004: was indeed a very strong running year with Dillon. Only year Brady ever had elite running supporting him in his entire career. Still running game had half the TDs as passing. We scored 40+ in that AFC championship. Remember that 60 bomb to Branch that killed the Steelers before they even got going? Some game managing there.

All of these while having no elite WRs or TEs. He was third in MVP voting in 2005. Compare that to Manning who had all pros at WR and RB while playing in a dome.

Only idiots would think a 3 time SB winning QB is a game manager. How many game managers have won 3 SBs? Scratch that how many great QBs won 3 SBs? 3 excluding Brady. So this game manager somehow accomplished something only 3 other QBs on 3 of the most loaded teams on offense and defense have done?

Finally; how does Brady magically become amazing after so many years of being a game manager? He just woke up one day and said time to be great?

You sound nervous. Lol

If I was nervous I would just have ignored you. Granted, allegations by a guy whose screen name is a feminine hygiene product are hard to take seriously. I wanted to give you a chance.

In all honesty, who cares about being right or wrong on this stuff? There are people here who seem to be more happy about being right about Mac Jones than the fact that if they were wrong, it would be far better for the Patriots and Patriots fans.

That is what I have hated about this board most since Brady left. People are more concerned about the scoreboard on this site of who is right on the side of the arguments of Brady vs. Belichick or whether it was Patricia or Mac who was the problem last year or whether Mac is any good rather than the scoreboard in Gillette.

No one on this board should be celebrating or taking victory laps for the fact that this team is a disaster, but several posters seem to want to do it every day. That isn't being a Patriots fan.
In a shocking development, man who was most wrong, most often, wants you to know it's not about keeping score.

I said he started to be the Tom Brady we know after 2003-2004. That washes with your 2005 MVP comment. He didn't "wake up and decided to be great". It took him some time.

What I'm saying is that it took time for Brady to become Brady. He wasn't the GOAT right out of the gate like the poster I was responding to said. Manning and Mahommes needed some time (a shorter time than Brady) to be great.

I know the Lengend of Brady has clouded some people's memories. He was better than Bledsoe, sure. From 2001-2004 he was probably a Top 10 to 15 QB. Not Top 5 like the poster I was responding to claimed.

There’s a great Twitter account called “RandomTomBradyHighlights” that just shatters the ‘game manager’ narrative with clip after clip after clip of him throwing incredible passes right from the jump.

I’ve seen 99% of Tom Brady games and I have to admit even I forgot how ****ing good he was right away.

You are the one using the term game manager.
He said Brady wasn’t a top 5 QB in the early years. He’s correct.
That isn’t a disservice to Brady, it’s just the facts. He did his job very well on a great team. Saying he carried them is a disservice to the other 52 players.

You can’t measure a QBs impact by highlight reels.

I don't view Jones as a bust. Zach Wilson is a bust. Jones is exactly as he was advertised in 2021 - a limited QB with ceiling of Matt Ryan and a floor of Andy Dalton. We are getting the floor, a QB who can lead a good roster to the playoffs, but looks bad on an average roster. The only path to success with Jones would have been to assemble a 49ers type roster, and even that would not likely have been enough given the state of the AFC QBs.

An upgrade at QB alone is not going to fix this. The system broke last season, and this season is a reminder that broken systems cannot fix themselves.

We've been looking forward to the 2024 offseason as the payoff moment since Jones was drafted, but at this point, we're better off using the year of flexibility to rid ourselves of some toxic contracts, and reset both the roster and the culture. Parker, Godchaux and Smith-Shuster need to go, and if it costs $20 million of dead cap, so be it.
Exactly.

Many had unrealistic expectations, thinking that the Patriot Way would simply and easily elevate Mac to be Brady 2.0.

Mac's rookie year in 2020 was an illusion, as he played on a Pats team that still had some talent, but that talent was already declining over several years by that time.

The 2018 SB team was overall the least talented SB winning team for the Pats. With many of the stars well past their prime. In 2019, the team went backwards and declined through the season. It was obvious to anyone except rabid BB supporters, that the dynasty was at an end. The Pats no longer had the horses to be a contender.

2020, was the last gasp and an illusion of a decent team due to the residual SB veterans. The playoffs destruction wasn't surprising.

It's only this year, that everyone realized that the talent is not there, and no amount of bandages will fix it. Mac has to go. He might be a decent QB on a semi talented team like the Bucs but he's useless on a talent deficient Pats teams.

Team Bill loathes facts.

Most QBs bust. Indeed most - even first round picks - are worse than Mac Jones. They’re not even in the league anymore. It wasn’t a bad pick, but it’s time to try on another one (or more).

I'm not Team anyone. I was a Pats fan before both of them were on the team. I'll be a Pats fan long after they're gone. I've been very critical of Bill especially the last couple of years.

All I said was Brady wasn't a Top 5 QB off the tip and people are getting their knickers in a twist.

Exactly. Look at Arizona, traded their 1st Rd QB in Year 2 when they realized he wasn't it. They're about to do the same w/ their other 1st Rd QB. Pats seem to hang on to their 1st Rd busts for too long. Almost like HC doesn't want to make GM look bad.

BB drafted Mac, and Mac sucks. Add a great QB to this roster and they're pretty darn good. No team can win with bad QB play.

If by some chance Kraft was to fire BB this weekend and wanted an entirely new regime to take over, as an armchair GM I'd love to take this team over.

They have a lot of young talent, they have a high first round draft pick to find their QB, they have the most cap space in the league, they have a rabid fanbase and good ownership. What's not to like?

Find a QB, they'll become instant contenders.
They do not have “ a lot” of young talent!
Other than Gonzales, White and maybe Douglas who?

I forgot the punter
