What secret information does Ferentz have that he continues to use as leverage to keep employment? At this point, got to believe it’s far more incriminating than any sort of rub and tug situation..

I believe it’s that he can play center in our system and none of the other linemen really can yet.

FIrst reactions. So many of our own guys. Lots of other guys out there who seemed more interesting than what we've got. Where is the vet QB. Where is the TE. Did the Miami rookie TE Tucker something go back to their PS? Was Kuntz really THAT bad/ Was some guy named Pharaoh really the best we could do? Ah well back to work.
Pharaoah Brown was with BOB and Lawing in Texas. Hypothetically, he's familiar with the system.
Personally, I wanted the Pats to grab Jack Coletto who is a RB/FB/QB. Wanna talk abu a guy who can run RPO... It's him.

Thanks for making my eyes bleed

Bet you they hire him as a coaching assistant after he hangs them up... in 2030

@Kontradiction glad to see you posting. Assume then that all is ok for you? You are on the right side of the dongle, if I recall.
Yeah. Just 30 MPH sustained winds at the peak. No storm surge. Once it hit the Big Bend, it was a Tropical Storm again.

His family's from Chicago, and he was part of the Second City comedy troupe, so this makes sense.
He does have that going for him, which is nice.

JJ Taylor yet to find a team.

We have to assume it was more than just being mad at not making the team.

Like maybe the team told Taylor he would be 5th back after Harris and Montgomery on the practice squad.

Happy that Perkins made it to the PS. He finally showed flashes of the player we expected to see based upon his draft position and college production in the 3rd preseason game….explosive off of the edge, high motor, physical….until he got concussed.

Pitts intrigues me. Good size and knows how to get open. The play vs. The Pack when he dragged multiple defenders 5 yards may have cemented his spot on the PS.

Agree with your take on both these players.

Yeah which jokes asides is logical on the surface. I guess more so it’s just troubling that he’s so far below the Mendoza line when it comes to OL play, yet there hasn’t been enough at IOL in recent years to ultimately kick him to the curb.

Yup. Turns out the Pats were not impressed with Russey and Hines so Ferentz lived one more year. It looks like Sow, Mafi, and Andrews are impressing so Ferentz is gone.

How does Zappe's salary work now?

I think it's just a standard practice squad contract now, and his rookie contract has been in essence torn-up.
Well, he gets to keep his $650K signing bonus and his additional $650K guarantee in his first contract, Now he has a $216K Practice Squad contract. If he gets re-signed to the 53-man active roster to avoid waivers for being sent back down, they'll have to negotiate a new deal. Zappe may come out ahead in the short-term given the Pats' cap flexibility.

Why can’t he be on the ps under the terms of his rookie contract? I don’t recall the CBA preventing that.

The act of waiving him basically voids his deal. Whatever guarantees he was owed are still valid, but the general contract is considered terminated. And since players have to be waived/cut in order to be signed to the PS, there's no way to transfer that contract. I may be wrong, but I think there are limits on how much a player can be paid on the PS to avoid teams circumventing the salary cap (since PS players don't count against it).
