Rebooting the OL decisions

Neither Mafi nor Sow is worth losing to a team with a strong line of aging starters and weak youth/backups. They stay. Especially Mafi. The others, I think, are safer to get to PS.
Yeah, that sounds right to me.

The Patriots and all 31 other teams trade or acquire players at roster cutdowns.

Yes, they look to upgrade in an area the team considers a weakness.

Since Brown and Anderson will likely be ahead of all, Sow is considered by the team to currently (not future) be their weakness X2.

Bye bye, Jake Andrews?

Biggest news in weeks- Anderson practicing. On paper,he's always been the best option at rt. 2 weeks to get in shape.
None of us have any idea what he's been dealing with,so no way to know if 2 weeks is enough to be ready for Philly.
Seems like it was a long illness, he could lost a lotta weight. I guess we'll find out.
But it's great ol news,finally.

This complicates things:

I don't want to say "I told you so" to the negative nancy's here but...

As a negative nancy, I will say I am shocked by this news today. I expected NFI.

Jakes Andrews just fell and stubbed his toe, and now his tummy hurts.

See you next offseason...

I’ve definitely been pessimistic so am glad to see this news about Anderson. Today just got even more interesting

Who is our backup C then?

David Andrews is old and starting to miss games. The time to find a center isn’t when you need one, it’s prior to that. Rookies typically need development.

Again if Sow and/or Wheatley become competent players your take will look silly.
I am very happy to look silly if one of those guys pan out at tackle. I am certainly not rooting against them to succeed I am just skeptical based on their backgrounds.

I think they could slip ten linemen through the 53 today and move or more to the practice squad (or IR) in the next couple days.

This looks like a really good offensive line to me:

LT (2) – Trent Brown, Calvin Anderson,
LG (1) – Cole Strange,
C (2) – David Andrews, Kody Russey
RG (2) – Michael Onwenu, Antonio Mafi
RT (2) – Sidy Sow, Tyrone Wheatley,

The OTs are suspect at best.
