I prefer to acquire as many quality starters & depth as possible and then to entrust my STs coaches, captain & a couple of others the task of instructing them on the fine art of running downfield and watching kicked balls travel out of the end zone or fair-caught.

Thornton cannot go on PUP, btw... And how lucky is he that Bill failed (and that's what it was) to sign Hopkins?

Can't make the club from the tub, Mister Anderson... And with Mafi looking more ready to join Double-S & the Newest Jake on the 53 with every practice, it appears as if the battle for the #10 OLman - if a 10th is even carried on the 53 - will come down to Russey vs Chasin' 'Hinds, though I wouldn't sweat losing either of them to waivers if another RB or DB should become a need (as they are already).

after yesterdays game 3 spots opened up. one running back which would be a veteran and 1 or 2 offensive linemen , one for center and one for OT. if anderson is healthy he is going to take that spot and push out steuber / mcdermott. i reckon its probbaly going to be mcdermott as he will make it through waivers.

• •Boutte showed a glimpse of his athleticism pre-injury on his TD. WR is the 2nd most important position & many teams carry 6. The pats haven't had 6 worthy of being on the 53 so I think they'll make an exception here.
• • Harris & Taylor will make it to the PS. Maybe wait for cutdowns for a 4th RB or Montgomery to heal up?
• • OL seems cut and dry. Starting RT may go down to the wire.
• • Five DTs may be too many but Davis is valuable in his role.
• • Munson could make the team at LB over Wilson. No real preference there.
• • Bryant started the game in the slot with Jones out and has reportedly had a good training camp. They could keep Bolden & Speed for size at CB on the PS.

I pretty much agree with all of this (you have (3) at QB with just Jones and Zappe).

No way we get Boutte back on waivers. He is showing elite skills now and teams would just lap Him if they have underperforming receivers. He has to be on 53 now.

We overrate our players. Boutte is a classic take a shot guy but trans would be taking the shot based upon the upside they already knew about not one play in a preseason game where he caught a slant and the secondary was sleeping.
Especially in preseason you have to distinguish between the player and the opponent in evaluating. Against any other opponent that isn’t a TD.

3) Bolden over Speed. Bolden can go on IN-SEASON IR and Speed can then be signed. Speed is very likely to make it through waivers. If not, Wade can be signed instead of Speed.

BOTTOM LINE
We disagree on the use of the IR list. I strongly object to losing Perkins, Nixon, Monty and Bolden for the year.

You know I’m not a STO guy. I thinks Bledsoe makes it over Speed…Bryant may make it as well if Bolden is not 100%.

BOTTOM LINE
We disagree on the use of the IR list. I strongly object to losing Perkins, Nixon, Monty and Bolden for the year.

Agree on all of the above. After the way BB has gushed over Board in the past, the likelihood of him being left off of the 53 (barring injury, of course) is close to zero. I doubt that Wilson, Davis or Harris would get claimed and if they do I’m not losing any sleep over it.

As has been the case almost every year, I expect the Pats to place a waiver claim or two on cutdown day.

There probably will be a couple of the 53 cut to keep Thornton until later in the week when he can be put on IR. I don't see him as productive. He's just that shiny toy. Not big on Wade, might even prefer Bryant at safety over Wade. I think Ekuale makes more plays than Roberts, especially on passing downs. Liked Roberts a lot last year but her hasn't shown much of a jump that I can see. Not a big fan of Davis, but he is the only other big interior DL/ I actually think Pharms has made more plays than Roberts.

I think there are bubble players in RB, CB, WR , LB and DT.

This is my take.

LB - Both Wilson and Broad will make the team.

CB - if bolden doesn't make it, Bryant will make 53.
Wade will be cut and moved to PS.

RB - only 3 running backs will be carried . Rest all will be cut and activated from PS. I don't see anyone claiming harris. He is gonna be cut. Montgomery will be on IR. JJ Taylor will also make PS.

DT - Ekuale is a lock. Davis will be restricted veteran on practice squad.

WR - Thornton will be pushed to IR and both Cunningham and Boutte will make the team. Decision on Thornton will be taken after first 6 weeks.

There will be 9 OT.

Yes, but it only for a day.

There are players that we could cut that are unlikely to be picked up. They can be signed after a couple of spots are opened when players are put on IR. These players including Kevin Harris and Wade.
