As someone who plays fantasy football and currently has him on my dynasty team, Davis is not that guy. He had that big playoff game against the Chiefs a year and a half ago that everyone remembers but much of that was from blown coverage. I’ll share a link that has a breakdown to why Davis is overrated as an NFL starting receiver:

“Which brings us back to 2023. Gabe Davis is still the No. 2, but we now know it is a role for which he is miscast. Although Davis’s Week 1 ankle injury cast a long shadow over his 2022 production, it’s not a sufficient explanation for him commanding fewer than 100 targets in 15 games. Next Gen Stats charted supposed deep threat Davis as averaging only 2.8 yards of separation, placing him in the bottom third of the league and behind names like Nico Collins and Trent Sherfield . He was spotted an average of just 5.4 yards of cushion, a screaming lack of respect from opposing corners. His 1.43 yards per route run placed 56th amongst wideouts. Davis barely even contributed big plays. His 11 receptions of 20-plus yards were tied for 30th.”

Davis has success on vertical routes but not much elsewhere. Also to his credit has a nose for the end zone. But he’s not a complete wideout and definitely wouldn’t take over a game if something were to happen to Diggs. He’s strong as a role player, a WR3 type, but not a reliable go-to option. The Bills invested a first round pick on Dalton Kincaid, while already having a TE in Dawson Knox who they have signed through 2026, because they needed a stronger complimentary receiving threat to Diggs.
As someone who's been following Davis since college and probably his biggest fan. This is accurate. He's a limited player but his vertical strengths are something every team needs. Double moves, toe tapping the sideline, outside seam. He's limited but is a nice vertical threat and has come up with some big plays. In college and pros.

He's definitely more suited for a WR3 role / targets. The big problem and it's no secret. They missed Beasley and haven't had that 247 open target in the mof, enter Kincaid. I hope he doesn't find success there but it's a paved road with draft capital and need.

While I hope Hopkins signs with the Patriots I will be disappointed if it happens later in training camp, doesn’t have chemistry with Mac and doesn’t fully know the route tree. I’d prefer to pay a little extra now as an incentive then wait another month.

Can we lock him up already.

If he feels that way why is he not betting on himself to get an incentive laden 1 year prove it deal . Empty noises . If we fans can sense it, I am sure GMs could sense it even better . He will come to the pats at 8 million + 4 -6 million incentive laden deal. Or make it 3 years 60 million with 20 million guaranteed .

Now it's said the Chiefs are getting involved in the D-Hop running. IF they get him and I wouldn't blame him if he goes there... Goodhell can just hand the Chiefs the Lombardi. D-Hop is playing the field not good for us.

When is this visit going to happen? I feel like he's been coming "next week" for over a month.

If D-Hop doesn’t sign here, does he overtake Adam Seward? I feel like he already has. How does everyone else feel?. I mean, you always had the Peppers rumors, the Fitzgerald rumors but none of them ever got thiiiiis close? I’m over it already. He either signs or he doesn’t. Let’s go!

Seward is on his way he just needs to ensure there is a hi fi vcr and Dolby logic tape deck thrown in with a lifetime Blockbuster rentals.

Chiefs have $400k cap space. Not gonna happen

Not sure if I believe the Chiefs stuff.
Also, if your DHop, you'll be the star of the Titans offense if you go there. They have shockingly little at skill players.
There's literally only Henry. So, that may not be alluring after all.
At least with the Pats, you have some legit other WR & TE to take pressure of you being the only guy.

We can keep deluding ourselves or state the obvious he hasn't signed because he's hoping for a better offer for a contender before he has to settle for the Patriots or Titans.

If he truly wanted to play for either of those teams it would already be done, nobody who thinks they're an elite WR wants to play with Mac Jones or Ryan Tannehill if they don't have to unless the money is so good they can't refuse.

Likely true. And I haven't been holding my breath.
Truth is, if he does come here, Thornton will barely play - which is not good for his 2nd year trying to develop into what we NEED our 2nd rounder to be. Obviously we'd rather have a legit star playmaker like DHop over Thornton, but I always want our drafted guys to get a shot to be something. We'll see.

Damnit why couldn’t he have had some bad whiskey in Tenn or choke on a cauliflower wing in Buff. We can only hope if he visits KC Reid is cooking a whole pig in his office.

Pretty much. He wants more money from a contender with an elite QB. He’ll settle for more money and Mac Jones. He wants money and being on a contender, but when push comes to shove, looks like money will be the deciding factor.

Pretty much.

Lol If the Browns have a better chance to win then we should just close up shop.
I think it’s more Watson and him have worked together and had a lot of success.
Funny thing is typically when articles like this come out we see the player sign with a team the same day. So let’s predict it Hopkins to Patriots 3 yrs 42 million dollars 25 mill guaranteed?
