Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

He never said that he was interested in playing with Mac, so he may be just playing the Pats at this point.

None of those teams can pay him what he wants. Tannehill isn't in there either

Not sure him listing the best QBs in the game a month ago has to do with where he will sign.

So far it's Patriots or Titans

Yeah that’s not super relevant. That’s like someone asking me what my top 5 dream cars would be. That doesn’t mean I can afford them.

Just catching up on this thread. I think Hopkins wants to participate as little as possible in offseason/training camp work. It sucks that he didn’t sign on the visit but I’d suspect he’s not signing with anyone until mid July-August.

Also, if we are talking about square pizza I think the best in the area is Pinocchio’s in Cambridge (Sicilian) or Avenue kitchen and bar in Somerville (Detroit style).

Wait, what? Bill did not even offer a contract to Dhop?? S.m.h. That's just great.... Go Pats!

If he wants a long term deal anywhere, I think it’s pretty relevant. If the pats and titans are the only teams interested, I’d sign a one year deal somewhere and hit the FA market next year.

Hopkins' issue is that he is 31 years old. A lot of WRs fall off a cliff at 31 to 33 years of age. He could enter FA earlier next year, but at 32 he is not going to get a high priced or a long-term deal. He is stuck in a weak position this year or next - his age is why the Cardinals released him. Hopkins' issue is the last deal he signed that facilitated a release at 31.

I have a feeling you’re right about the timetable, and I don’t like that. Means less time learning the playbook and building chemistry with his teammates.

Oh man I forgot about Pinocchio’s, excellent choice, I love their pizza. They’re tucked away in Harvard Square so easy to miss. Never tried Avenue, funny enough considering I’ve been to Kelly’s Diner for breakfast several times (right next to it).

My Mom did not drive either. Most families in Somerville had 1 car. Dad drove it to his 2 jobs
You walked everywhere. No way we would ever take the bus. We would here the stories about the Depression days
There were 9 of us kids. My Dad worked 2 jobs had the car. The first 7 kids were all 1 year apart- so my Mom was home by herself with all of us- that meant 5 who weren't even school yet all home with her.
Don't know how tge F she did it.
Lol,man, the Depression stories! Seems every time one of us complained about something , we'd hear a Depression story.
That was a tough generation. My Dad fought in WW2 in France

Let it go, she is not into you! Move on. Accept the rejection.

Tough call. You really have to know Hopkins. He's produced everywhere he's been. Last year was a 1200-1300 year if he played the full year. Tough call but a healthy Hopkins makes this offense resemble the Oak WR corp which is universally considered top 10-15. In fact it might be slightly better.

Pinocchio's is legit. Good one. Live in Somerville now and will have to try Ave Kitchen.

I grew up in East Boston (still close) and know enough about pizza to realize that it's pretty personal. Like cigars; you like what you like. I like all styles really, but thin is my favorite. Ingredients are where I get snobby.

If Hops does not sign here its no big deal.

Parker made great strides last season with Pats coaching. A 66% catch rate for the first time in his career. Unfortunately, his RG {receptions per game} was the 3rd lowest in his career. Get the damn ball to Parker. He can deliver 1000 yards this season. DeVante Parker Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Draft, College | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Parker is good, but he's a high end #2. I think the question with our Roster is that there is no clear #1 receiver. we have alot of #2 guys in Parker/Juju/Bourne....but there isn't one guy there who teams "gameplan for" or draws coverage. ever since gronk retired and Edelman lost a step our issue has been teams just go man 1-on-1 and no one can get open..

You sign Hopkins and the depth chart really settles down. All of a sudden, hopkins/juju/bourne are facing lesser defenders/single coverage.

when we had Gronk/Edelman, teams had to scheme to try and take them away. which in turn let guys like Chris hogan put up big numbers. You add hopkins to a team with juju/bourne/parker and Gesicki and Hunter Henry with Rhamondre Stevenson out the backfield thats suddently an offense that is really tough to defend..

we just have no tackles...thats the only problem there.

Agreed. Great post. I expect BB will sign Hopkins. The Pats are not a great destination but for Hopkins we are a lot better fit than the Titans.

I guess there is always a weakness and maybe fans see the weakness as bigger than it is? That is my only hopeful thought.

The Greeks make a good pizza.

In NE anyway from my experience.

Oh I admired them
Dad was on USS North Carolina in WW11

thin and stands strait out when you hold it
little dip is fine

Parker is good, but he's a high end #2.
Juju was the clear #1 on the Chiefs last year and they won a ring. Really highlights the importance of a #1… whatever that is.

Except Trent Brown, Calvin Anderson, Riley Reiff, Sidy Sow and McDermott… beyond them we have no tackles.
