Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

It makes sense. Hopkins wants to get back to being a star in the league. O’Brien is the one who used him so effectively offensively in Houston that it made him a star in the first place.
IF we sign D-Hop the response from the rest of the division.

Is that going to be the refrain from under the bridge if we sign Hopkins?

I think it should go like this:

If [the Pats sign Hopkins] then [Hopkins is washed]
but if [the Pats fail to sign Hopkins] then [no good free agents want to sign with the Pats]
and in either case [the offense is hopeless forever because Bill let Brady go]

I'm expecting to read that some random team like the Packers sign Hopkins in the next hour. Usually how these things go.
Can we stop it already D-Hop deserves to be with Mac10. He's going to sleep in Mac's guess room Tonight.

To be honest, I think the rest of the division are all looking past the Patriots with or without Hopkins. I think it could be a mistake.
Minus D-Hop yes With D-Hop heck no!

I am a bit worried about him, and this is coming off a pretty disappointing season too. If we do go after hopkins rather than an ot, bb is showing alot of faith in anderson/reiff (Mcdermott we already kinda know)
Right, heard the same about anderson. If we want though i bet we could squeeze both hopkins and jonah williams under the cap (parker and myles bryant cut for example results in approx 9 m i think plus 14m currently in space plus other things they can do). Then the team would be about as complete as you can ask around mac for a real prove it year.

1. Sign Hopkins

2. Do NOT cut Parker at this time

3. See if all of Cincinnati's OLmen emerge from TC healthy

4. If yes, then swap picks for Jonah Williams

5. Cut Parker IF all of our WRs emerge from TC healthy AND we need the cap space for Hopkins, Williams et al.

I know you have raging wood for pretty much any WR, but I am not sure this guy is the second coming of Randy Moss. I doubt very much the rest of the division is going to quake in their boots. I will be happy if he signs here, and even more happy if he's still a Dude.

Yeah, all things being equal I want him here, he makes the team better this year. But if he was still the kind of player that would produce that kind of reaction in our rivals, then those rivals would be pushing harder to sign him themselves. There aren't many teams in the AFC that are so incredibly stocked at WR that they wouldn't want Hopkins, IF he was still unquestionably elite.

I've been following the Patriots since the Plunkett-to-Vataha days, and have been reading, message boards, going to games/SBs!!! and following ever more closely in the BB era. I am gobsmacked by the reports I'm seeing here. When have we ever seen a BB team talking about a potential FA like this? optimistic they can sign him?
Man, either BB (or BOB) really want this guy, or Kraft is insisting on them making some kind of splash right now...or maybe all of those things.

Just really surprised.

Wouldn't it make sense to fly Randy Moss in for tomorrow to try and help the Pats close the deal? Could tell Hopkins about Bill, culture and bond with him about his hatred of practice.

Eh its still not bad to have a top 2 WR of all time that played in your organization.

Shouldnt your implied probability add to 100%? Yours adds to about 120%.....

The fact that their WRs on the roster are already dealing with so many injuries (Juju, Thornton, Boutte) and others are just injuries waiting to happen (Parker), it makes even more sense to get Hopkins. He's not only an instant upgrade to the top of the unit, but he's also a warm body in a room lacking them.

LOL... man.. if we can sigh him.. he gives us exactly what we need. A guy DCs can game plan for, and can carry coverage.

Juju the TEs, and backs will all eat up the field by hops presence alone. If we lined up today against jets he would have sauce on him!
