Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

I’m thinking 3 for 45, third year a void year, front load using the signing bonus, heavy with bonuses and incentives.
I can envision 3/30. With a big signing bonus and incentives and escalators..

Yeah... Trent Brown looks retired already

I am a bit worried about him, and this is coming off a pretty disappointing season too. If we do go after hopkins rather than an ot, bb is showing alot of faith in anderson/reiff (Mcdermott we already kinda know)

Can Hopkins play Tackle?
Is that going to be the refrain from under the bridge if we sign Hopkins?

I think it should go like this:

If [the Pats sign Hopkins] then [Hopkins is washed]
but if [the Pats fail to sign Hopkins] then [no good free agents want to sign with the Pats]
and in either case [the offense is hopeless forever because Bill let Brady go]

Yeah I agree.. he looks not only out of shape but disinterested in football.. if so man just retire.. allow another player that wants to compete have his spot.. so it reported that Anderson was at LT and getting beat by judon and Uche... well alot of tackles get beat by them.. lol

No question that right now OT is the biggest unanswered question on the team. Not that there isn't an answer to be found on the current roster, but without padded practices it's a complete unknown:

- Brown could be motivated, in good enough shape, and not miss a beat at either LT or RT. Or he could be cooked.
- Reiff could be a solid starting RT that adds some grit and leadership to the line. Or he could be too old.
- Sow could be a factor at tackle, or that could have been just a mini-camp feeler and he's only a guard long term.
- Anderson or McDermott could turn out to be a good (if unspectacular) option at one of the spots, but again, without real practices that's all hopeful speculation.
- Onwenu could move back to RT if one of the young guys shows up and can play RG day one. But do they want to do that if they have a choice?

Lots of questions and we're going to have to wait at least a month for the answers.

That said, if Hopkins (right, this is a Hopkins thread...) signs, it does help. Having more options to throw to quickly, either to Hopkins himself, or to someone else because Hopkins is drawing more attention, will help keep the tackles from having to hold up for too long. Complimentary football.

Great points, and all top of that guys on offense are missing O line and at WR.. so the offense isn't at full strength. BB may just be taking precautions as full camp is around the corner and competition gets amped up then!

Right, heard the same about anderson. If we want though i bet we could squeeze both hopkins and jonah williams under the cap (parker and myles bryant cut for example results in approx 9 m i think plus 14m currently in space plus other things they can do). Then the team would be about as complete as you can ask around mac for a real prove it year.

McDermott is not in the same class as Trent Brown or Calvin Anderson. Our Starting Tackles should be Anderson LT - Mount Brown RT that is a decent pair who should more than protect Mac.

Yeah, that is definitely doable.. I've felt even if we didn't sign D Hop that there projects to be WR on the outside when it's all said and done.. KB is the guy I want.. he's probably the 2nd best WR currently on our team. I'd absolutely like Williams at OL. We need some depth.. are Andrews and ownenu going to hold up ?

We can scratch Jonah Williams he's adjusting.
It's D-Hop or bust now.
