Patriots Have Called on Jeudy

Like the plan, but I’d rather stay at 14 and take the best OT, CB or WR. Then use one of the 4ths with 76 and move up to get one of your targets. I’d probably use another 4th and the 46 to move up to secure an OT if we don’t draft one at 14.
It could go either way, depending on if there's a must-have guy still on the board at 14. If not and he thinks he can do just about as well at 20, then he'll try to move down. But if he thinks that Joey Porter for example is unique and he's still there, then he'll take him.

I think Rhamondre is a very legit back who I’d like to keep long term. M. Jones is a very intriguing player who would require quite a bit to part with. He is kind of the definition of jack of all trades, master of none. And of course Mac is going nowhere right now unless we are bringing in Lamar Jackson.

Definitely open to giving up Barmore or Dugger if it means Jeudy.
You learned his name. First mistake with a Patriots RB. I secretly want exactly the same thing, but RB is a value position in Foxborough usually. We'll see whether what usually happerns happens. and we have more than enough firepower to let him go. Sad, but tis the way of the Patriots bckfield. Keeping a guy long term is spendy. I was surprised to see that Robinson character drawing $4m a year.

Not sure what you're disagreeing about, I feel OK about all 3 of these positions as they stand today: WR-OT-CB. They all could be better, but they're all as good or better than last year. No crises anywhere, we even picked up a punter. I guess CB/Safety is a concern cause we lost DMac, but there's a lot of depth there. WR/weapons are pretty solid. OT has good depth now. I think the team can take the best prospect available regardless of position, which is where you want to be going into the draft. I expect our first 3 choices to be at those positions, but you never know who might slip or whether Bill thinks we need a LB the most.
I've been high on Corey Davis for a while he's absolutely someone we should be looking at if made available.

We should be continuing to gather as much offensive talent as possible and let all the roles play out in camp.. I'm absolutely happy with our offense however I'd still like that " guy" to go along with what we have. On defense I've felt we needed CB depth even before mills was released and resigned. He's likely going to play safety I'd imagine.

I'm sure we'll pick up some more CBs in the draft as we do every draft however those guys will have to get acclimated to the NFL and likely won't have any immediate impact unless they show enough in camp.

There were NO impact receivers in this FA class. The highest rated was Meyers, probably the best-tooled WR out there was Juju. OBJ is a wild care, given his age and injuries of late. Personally, I think the Pats likely scored the most impactful WR in FA (with all due respect to Jakobi) in JJSS. Maybe a Lazard or someone (Davis? Chark? Hardman?) will break out, but to date, no one else out there stands above those two.

Doesn't look like that's happening much since the huge risks taken on trading for Brown, Hill, and the huge contracts handed to others like Deebo. Rarified air - there aren't many at that level in the NFL. Teams seem to be walking away from the overpays - Cooks was had more as a salary dump than a draft capital trade, reports are that the market dried up for Hopkins, and Jeudy hasn't had a nibble on that 1st-round demand - and especially after the Cooks trade, I doubt Denver will get anywhere near that.

WRs are generally too hit/miss and the risk is huge. Worse, this year, who? Addison, JSN, and Johnston all have warts, big warts, Someone will grab at them, sure, but I don't see a first-round grade on ANYONE coming out this year.

Hoping for one of the big CBs, or a trade back that nets an OT and maybe a BPA (Darnell Washington would be a nice get, as there's few in the league in that true in-line TE role).
Good post 50 I will say we all know that the NFL Draft is a crapshoot. But I am not as down on the 2023 WR class as the consensus. I think this years WR class down the road will be viewed as much better than originally regarded. I think they are gems in this WR class that might not be Great but be solid pro players for years to come.

Yeah equally good post, I guess with WRs it's all on how they acclimate to the NFL, the work ethic the passion the hunger they have to want to be great.

Typically those guys that have that work out and become great pros. Definitely agree there weren't to many impactful FA WRs I like juju, He's a YAC machine I also liked Jakobi as well..

However the organ knows best I'm assuming. Myself i was clamoring for gisikie.. I like his game he can stretch the field and make contested catches..

I'm sure we'll pick up some more offensive talent in the draft and have the usual UNDFAs come in and 1 or 2 will make the team.

I don't think we have an equal need at all between OT, CB, and WR - we've got three seasoned vets, a 4th counting Gesicki, and a 2nd-year pro at WR. Any upgrade to those guys will be a major elite player.
At CB, we've got a solid number 2 and a pair of second-year guys who show promise. No one with size (if they move Mills to FS, as expected). That is not a great group - like the players, but we need at least one more very good CB, preferably one with size.
At OT, we've got Brown, for now at least, who is up and down and oft-injured, followed by a bunch of backups. This seems to me to be THE most pressing need on the team by far.

OT and CB are way bigger needs than WR.

It's 4m over TWO years.

Maybe, but that won't stop us from taking a WR at 14 if there's a big dropoff after that guy and there's plenty of OT's and CB's available. I'd personally prefer to see OT, either at 14 or if we trade down a bit. I think Trent Brown is fine, but that monster from Ohio State would look good beside Onwenu.

why is denver looking to trade him?
Breer mentioned they want a 1st round pick back they gave it away I'm the trade with Payton.. it's almost unbelievable that a coach can be traded in professional sports..

Perfect scenario would be to trade down to say 24 range pick up a second and fourth for that trade down use 24 to get Jeudy and then draft BPA with the gained second and fourth.

What WRs in this draft do you think are a cut above the pack?

if we make a trade down prior to the draft I would assume my trade down to trade for Jeudy is accurate.

Not in the NFL. If anything teams tend to become better off if they trade for the right coach. I don't believe anyone regrets the draft pick we gave up to the Jets and then subsequently embarked on having the greatest championship winning dynasty in NFL history. Not saying it's always going to happen like that, but acquiring a great head coach impacts winning in football seemingly more than in any other sport.

You’re saying for the 14th pick we would get 24, a 2nd and a 4th?

Much more in line with the model. If you bothered to learn without having to look it up whether it's Stephenson or Stevenson, more fool you. Breaks my heart. I am all ready to have a running back mancrush and I spotted early that he was the Rheal Deal. But he's finna be on the discard pile. No disrespect to everything that he brought to the position, and it will suck when he puts the last nail in Damien's coffin in Buffalo next year... but ::shrug::

Bill the GM has the draft capital to make this happen...but what Bill the GM doesn't have is the willingness to sign Jeudy to a big new contract. with the lack of contracts going into the 2025 season one would get the impression that perhaps Krafty Bob is preparing to sell the team or hand it over to Jonathan with little monetary commitment

Actually IIRC, Payton walked away from the Saints with a few years left on his contract, so technically they still owned his rights until that contract expired. So Denver had to either trade for him or watch him be an analyst on TV for however long that contract ran.

I think the deal that I would go for and think is fair is this one. Juedy for one of our 4ths this year. plus a conditional pick that can be anything between a 4th to a 2nd depending on Juedy's performance

Another one I'd go for would be a player swap plus picks. Say a 4th (since we have 4 of them I think) and Parker. Denver gets a decent player with a lot of size, a reasonable contract, AND a 2nd day pick. We replace size with speed but also take a certain amount of risk and the possibility of a big contract in a couple of years

A 4th is a 3rd day pick. What is the 2nd day pick?

You’re saying for the 14th pick we would get 24, a 2nd and a 4th?
If a QB falls that would be our best case scenario.
Or if someone valued one of the top oline or corners more than we did.

I think that is best case scenario for Patriots.
If we turned 14 into Jeudy and 2 early early to mid round picks I would be excited about that.
