2023 NFL Combine Thread

Athleticism allows for a greater margin of error and makes tough things easier. Of course you still need to be played but the game is played by ridiculous athletes for the most part. It matters a lot.

You are consistent. You repeatedly post the most obvious stuff as if you have a deep understanding.

Edelman and Welker were never outside receivers and Addison was used in college primarily as an outside guy. Outside guys need speed at the next level. Addison is still a great receiver but he will drop with his weak 40 time. No-one will draft Addison in the first half of R1 to convert to a slot receiver. Welker and Edelman were UDFAs. There is a huge difference between an outside and slot receiver.

Underwear speed and game speed are not the same - no **** Sherlock. Stop posting obvious stuff like you are insightful. Try to play nicely with others.

It doesn't matter WHERE Addison was used in college. That's what YOU don't understand. Players get moved from Outside to Slot all the time based on their ACTUAL fit. What BS are you going on about in regards to Addison being talked about in the 1st half of R1? None of the profiles I've seen had him there. They were talking Late 1 to Mid 2. Oh wait. I forgot. You read too many articles to be able to post where you get your s**t from.

Edelman wasn't a UDFA. He was a 7th rounder. Edelman played both the slot and outside. Not to mention a CONVERSION project. What he ran MATTERS. It's proof that 40 times aren't the be all end all that you're posts are making them out to be.

I clearly have a deeper understanding of the game than you do. Maybe if your posts weren't repeatedly filled with the same ignorance over and over again, I wouldn't have to dumb down my posts for you.

I play nicely with others plenty. I didn't call you a stupid f**king moron or a complete J**kA$$. d

Only get a Comp pick IF they don't sign someone that off-sets it. And they are very likely to sign an OT that will more than off-set it.
And they may not. I never assume with BB. Good to have that Comp. Pick in the bank.

The start is so important for the 40 drill. I'm not an expert but have seen enough and read enough on the practice of it and other drills to know you can be taught in and out of a fast 40.

Look at the start and amount of steps. You can see the cleaner starts from Duggan and Adebawore help balance out that 4.5 with a guy like Dell.

Rice was not a field stretcher and played in a different era. There are always a few exceptions. Statistically how you "run in a straight line in your underwear" is important for a field stretcher. That is why the combine has that test and everyone covers it. Look at the vast majority of success stories, not the few exceptions. The draft is about stats because athleticism wins the majority of the time in the NFL.

For the first 11 years of his career, Rice WAS a field stretcher. He had 942 receptions for 15,123 yards. That's 16.05 Y/R. Yes, from 1996 through 2004, Rice was more of a #2 Possession receiver. But there is a reason he earned the nickname "FLASH".

Look at the vast majority of success stories? WOW. Athleticism wins the majority of the time? ROFLMAO. This is PROOF you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Go look at the 2007 Draft. Go look at 2017. The number of players from the first two rounds that BOMBED out within 3 years was ridiculous. Those also happened to be 2 of the drafts that it's well known Belichick didn't like.

Todays NFL game is defensed not for you not to get a 40 yard bomb. It's hard to complete a 40 yard pass. Rather look at velocity (3-cone), then speed (40 yard). For the game of football.
Football is always zigging and zagging, change of direction - but watching the 40 is fun.

Why don't you stop responding to my posts? That is a win-win. We are both happy that way.

I think Addison testing poorly, and being light combined with a huge production drop off last season should push him into the second round.

The strength of the receiver position in this draft is in rounds 2-4, I hope the Pats stay away from receiver in the first.

Running back I like is Pittsburgh's, Israel Abanikanda. One cut and gone, needs work in the Passing game, but I think the Pats can work on it. Home run hitter all the way.

I enjoyed watching QB Richardson and TE Washington at the combine....that would be a fun duo on offence. The one handed catch by Washington showed pretty good athleticism for someone weighing 264lbs...his 40 yard time was quick for his size.

We don’t need a one cut and gone back we have that from last years draft we need the next James White.
If that's the case rather sign Fournette then. He's like Keith Byars, big pass receiving back. I think the Pats can work IA into passing game.
White in 4 years at Wisconsin caught 73 passes Season high 39 in 12 games started.
Fournette had 142 Receptions too past 2 years. Brady thought he was a big James White too.
In 3 years Fournette had 41 receptions at LSU. Tells you, you never know how College and Pros translate.

Do you have any names of guys who could be the next James White? I agree with you that we could use the next James White but I’m not sure who that guy is. Maybe Gibbs or Deuce Vaughn?

These are outstanding.

Smith-Njigba is a guy who I might like them to target at 14, if his medicals check out. Great numbers (not sure what his 40 is), and he was the number one receiver at Ohio State over upper classmen Olave and Wilson (but of whom were first rounders and produced in the NFL). He also was ahead of the talented Marvin Harrison Jr (who this year produced of Ohio State). Health would be the only hesitation, but it’s also why he’s not a top ten pick.

I am just starting to look at the backs In this draft class I think it’s more of a veteran addition a Clyde Edwards Helaire or a Miles Sanders.
I love Stephenson but he’s not that quick footed back who can get open on linebackers.

Finding the next James White is hard. One of the best and Clutch Receiving backs in Patriots history. Might take awhile of hit and miss.
Most of the time you work into being a great 3rd down back. Nobody specializes this in College.

Sanders had 124 Receptions in 4 years, I like him too. Depends on the Bucks. Helaire 72 in 3 years. He's also not a FA. Maybe he gets cut cause he's always hurt.
