These morons* all deserve each other. Wilson was criticized for saying the offense didn't let the defense down after only scoring 3 points in a loss to the Patriots. Wilson should have had a more diplomatic response for the media, but Williams' tweet shows that there was tension between the Jets offense and defense behind the scenes. There have been multiple examples in league history where the defense thought the offense was letting them down or vice versa, but most teams are smart enough to keep that dysfunction in house. That's one area where they definitely "Finish."

As for Williams, he doesn't have much room to criticize others. For his first three seasons, he didn't make an impact on the field. If you're the #3 overall pick, your team shouldn't have to wait until year 4 for you to play like it.

The Athletic Football podcast did an offseason interview series before the 2021 season, one of which was Robert Saleh. I held onto that episode on the backlog of my podcast player for two years for when I needed a laugh. I listened to it recently, and the section where he describes Zach Wilson absolutely nailing the interview portion of the predraft process is absolutely hilarious in retrospect. "His recall, his football IQ, what he sees... That meeting was, to me, was so impressive. On a defensive level it was on par with what we felt with Fred Warner... I just talked with Greg Knapp and said 'you can't get better than that, can you?' and Greg said 'That was ridiculous'."

Russell came into the league in 2007, when the league was really opening things for the passing game. I don't have a way to quantify this, but that trend has continued over the years. Put another way, Wilson is putting up numbers comparable to Jamarcus Russell when the league is more QB friendly now than it was 15 years ago,

Also, there were stories of Russell having an addiction to codeine ("lean" and "purple drank") during his time at LSU and the Raiders. The obvious joke is that Wilson suffers from a crippling MILF addiction, but the fact is, he's worse than a guy with substance abuse issues.

The Jets not moving on from Wilson would be the most Jets move they can make.
