A couple things to consider with the comparison of Russell and Wilson's first two seasons:
Russell came into the league in 2007, when the league was really opening things for the passing game. I don't have a way to quantify this, but that trend has continued over the years. Put another way, Wilson is putting up numbers comparable to Jamarcus Russell when the league is more QB friendly now than it was 15 years ago,
Also, there were stories of Russell having an addiction to codeine ("lean" and "purple drank") during his time at LSU and the Raiders. The obvious joke is that Wilson suffers from a crippling MILF addiction, but the fact is, he's worse than a guy with substance abuse issues.
The Jets not moving on from Wilson would be the most Jets move they can make.
