OT: Coaching firings around the league

Belichick is another one. He's shown deep flaws the last three seasons. Of course he does have those 6 SBs that keeps him in for as long as Kraft is willing to put up w/ mediocre results from the $25M/yr HC.
Bill should be paid per incentives with a $5 mil base salary.

$5 mil for 11 or more wins.
$5 mil for division title or wild card spot.
$5 mil for each postseason win (which if he won the Super Bowl would add up to an additional $15 or $20 mil)

Anything more than $5 mil for 10 wins or less and no playoffs is an overpay for a head coach.

can you show me any film evidence to proof your point? Or how do you know staley isnt the guy, believing in reporters here?
It’s well known that Staley is a defensive coach and doesn’t call the offensive plays.
Not sure why you are being obtuse and comparing a verifiable fact to an opinion of play on the field that can be readily assessed on game film.

You got to love when a HC and OC up 27-0, but then suddenly can't call a game after that.

FYI - I've met a family member by accident of the Spanos family at a party and they aren't the type to fire someone if they really like them. As much as Rivers choked throughout the years, this family member said they loved Rivers like a son. My friend (who was hosting the party) and I looked at each other and realized why they would never move on from him. The point is, they must like Staley.

No one would ever be dumb enough to let a defensive coach call offensive plays.

After scanning twitter a bit I found:

and:

Leftwich, 43, is one year removed from being one of the hottest head-coaching candidates in the NFL, having interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars (twice), the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints last offseason.

Makes me wonder, are there really 10 people out there qualified to be NFL offensive coordinators?

Even some of the tarnished ones, like Roman and Leftwich, are probably gonna get hired, no?

The only "tarnished one" I'm confident won't get hired as an OC next season is our own Matty P.

I think the Rams and Chargers are better jobs than our OC spot. If the Ravens and Bucs get Lamar and Brady back I think they are better jobs. The Cardinals might be a toss up but I would say we are a better landing spot for an OC than the Jets, Commanders, Titans, and Colts.

I agree on the Chargers, IMO they have a lot of untapped potential.

I'm less high on the Rams, I think they have such a top-heavy studs and scrubs roster with cap maximized and poor injury history it'll be really hard to build a team that can perform well for a seventeen game season and into a playoff run.

I agree on what you say about how the rosters look. A lot will depend on who a give team signs, resigns and/or walks away from, including us here in NE.

You'd have to come here because you want to be here. The organization, the Krafts, the opportunity to get them back to the top, and to work with Bill at the end of his career. That last part cannot be undersold. Bill still has more knowledge of the game than everyone else in the NFL. If you're coming here to punch your ticket to the next job, where you hitch your wagon to what you suspect is the next rising star, then this is not a good fit.

@203Pat Cardinals are stuck with that idiot Murray. Going to take someone who really wants a challenge to want that job, and coach that guy.

Donald, Allen Robinson, Bobby Wagner, and one of their tackles could all be gone and would free up a ton of cap space but with the exception of Allen Robinson I think that would make their team worse. Maybe they use their high second rounder on a QB to sit behind Stafford and the new OC gets to learn/work with one of the best offensive minds in the game and gets labeled as everyone's favorite "QB whisperer" if it works out. A couple years ago anyone who ever walked by McVay in the hallway was offered a head coaching job so if he can regain his magic I think it would be a great opportunity.

I agree. I am even more down on him after watching a few episodes of the in season Hard Knocks they did on the Cardinals. He seems to be a "me first" finger pointer type who's teammates don't really seem to love him. He reminds me a lot of the way Carson Wentz came off the season the Eagles were on the same show in 2019. I just got the feeling he wasn't well liked either and it turns out he probably wasn't. That being said someone could fall in love with his athleticism and think they have a better chance to win with an athlete who is a pain in the ass over a kid like Mac who (allegedly) isn't a pain in the ass but is nowhere near as physically talented.

To me, anyone that would want to get involved with Murray and the Cards over Mac/Krafts/Belichick is not someone that the Pats would likely hire or someone they'd even want. Likely vice versa too.
