Xs and Os are just that.....Xs and Os......if you can design a defense to attack an NFL offense, then you can design an offense to attack on NFL defense........was at a clinic with Rob Ryan many years ago, and he made this exact point, you can't coach one side without a vast understanding of the other side
there IS an art to play calling, I had issues at times with McDs in game calls......at times he seemed predictable and conservative, but I think they also consistently played the long game, and that showed
having an "OC who is an OC" isn't the issue imho.......players are being put in position, they just aren't making plays......some of that is youth, some of that is inexperience, I think a large part of that is a new system with new coordinators and new personnel and a very limited pre-season - with the current NFL rules, you just can't get the number of live, real time reps you once could, and these things have to be adjusted on the fly, it's akin to building an airplane while flying it.......overall, I think the offense is much improved over two weeks ago, injuries aside
some of it is just plain being snake bitten......we're looking at a 3 game sample, hopefully over a 17 game season, these mistakes will be cleaned up, and you'll see a bit more of opponents putting the ball to the floor, taking bad penalties, etc as things even out over time.......I don't like some of the crucial errors I've seen, but I'm not ready to proclaim it a season-long trend, either
the sky isn't falling, it's just a little overcast
