Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Meanwhile in 49rs land. Shanahan didn't want Brady cause he thought JG was better. Now benched JG as he thinks Lance is better. Does that mean he thinks Lance is better than Brady?

It will be interesting where JG lands next year. With the talent level the Bucs will still have, they will have to go for a veteran QB. JG at Bucs sounds good to me.

“I think the defense played awesome,” Brady said, via Greg Auman of TheAthletic.com. “Offensively, I think we can do a lot better than that tonight. We’re going to have to. We’re going to have to score in the red area. We’re going to have to stay healthy. We’re going to have to get back to work and find a little bit of regular-season flow and just put these days together and see if we can make some improvements.”

Tom Brady: Defense was awesome, offense has to be better - ProFootballTalk

Watching Tom Brady slinging it with zip and doing his Tom Brady thing commanding the offense at age 45 on a $25M contract is infuriating as a Pats fan. Does anyone think last year’s Pats or even this roster wouldn’t be a contender with Brady? Ugh. Sorry for the digression

It is frustrating. They guy had multiple years of championship football left and Bill/Kraft gave up on him. Now look at the offense they are running instead of letting Brady do his thing?

Belichick didn't want him anymore. Belichick's arrogant and stubborn. Thought he could win without Brady. Reportedly in the heyday of the dynasty he and his staff were spouting off about being able to replicate the winning with any top 15 ranked quarterback. Which is a complete joke, especially the 2.0 dynasty that was way more about Brady than Belichick.

Belichick forgot what life as a head coach in the NFL was like without an elite quarterback (and he even had the best). He forgot about the 5 losing seasons of his first 6 as a head coach. The not winning divisions routinely. He's getting a reality slap now though. He doesn't have Brady here anymore to cover for the team's deficiencies. Yet he's doubling down on his arrogance by hanging over his second year franchise quarterback to Matt Patricia and Joe Judge. While implementing a new offense. And inexplicably benching his best receiver. It's mindboggling.

I wonder what Kraft is thinking as he looks down on his sideline full of Belichicks and Bill's friends, with his team going down in flames, meanwhile his former GOAT quarterback (who he didn't fight for) is ripping it up and winning Super Bowls in another uniform.

Mutual split no need to rehash this again.

The main board won't like it, but if the Pats miss the playoffs this year it might be time to replace Bill.

Kraft and Bill got rid of Brady because no QB had ever played dominant into their late 30s before let alone into their mid 40s.

No HC has dominate coaching into their 70s in the NFL.

The mind starts to slip around 70. Bill mentally is past his prime and what's best for the Pats is to find a McVay to pair with Mac Jones

I'd say it depends... 8/9 wins and a playoff miss is one thing but the team totally cratering to a 3-4 win season will be entirely on BB and there will be questions asked about that. And if the rumblings are true that some players are unhappy about what's going on with Bourne then that's the first time I've heard this team not be on the same page as BB. IIRC this kind of stuff is exactly what led to Tom Coughlin's exit as the Giants HC.

I wish I could take this at face value but after all their injury assessments last year I can’t.

Lance certainly sucked yesterday.

The main board?... I can't even get an honest point of view past the Mods. 1 post in the Post Game thread... 1! and I got banned from the thread. My post deleted too. This after it was responded to, favorably, and quoted. Ridiculous.

What are the Mods going to do when the team's possibly 0-4? They'll be deleting posts left and right by then. Look, the team just lost to a decent (not great) opponent with a bad quarterback. There may be a repeat of this coming up this weekend. Then of course people are sleeping on Baltimore because no one wants to rehash Belichick passing on Lamar Jackson (who McDaniels wanted), who when healthy is an elite player. And Green Bay, I don't care how inept their receiving corps is, the Patriots are not winning that game. So yes, 0-4 is on the table.

And yes, dressing Bourne to merely stand on the sideline for all but 2 plays was not in the 'best interest of the team.' That's a Belichick decision. And a bad one that worked against the team's chances of winning a game. Your second year franchise quarterback also got banged up while passing to a self-depleted receiving corps. Can I say that? Seriously if the main forum can't handle the content of this post, or the relatively mild post that got deleted in the Post Game thread, then it's really soft. And truly in for a world of sh*t if the team has a losing record this season. Whether I'm participating or not (meaning predictably banned).

Kraft will have to do something after this season but should keep BB. He has and continues to field a good D year in and year out.

Where it's all going downhill is on offense. It's been going downhill even before Brady left,. No adequate replacement for key players as they leave such as Cooks, Amendola, Gronk, and Edelman. Brady and McDaniels covered up for it for awhile. But without McDaniels, Mac is a sitting duck. I blame Patricia for benching Butler and losing to Philly with the awful defensive game calling the most. Now he is at it again with the quasi benching of their best receiver in Bourne.

Minor secondary injury following an ACL, and having to move in an awkward way in order to adjust to an off throw. A couple of weeks seems reasonable. Hell, they could probably push that and start him in a week or two, but they'll likely not do that with the WR depth chart that they have.

They should keep relying on that running game.

That'll probably keep happening at least until the OL gets more experienced and cohesive.
Keep a TE on Wells side at all times lol I can't believe they didn't send help on that side sooner when Parsons was wrecking them

Bowles will be speaking soon. Maybe we'll get an update on Smith's arm injury.
