I wonder when they start their cuts? Why practice with 80 guys today and take away reps from the guys that will be on the team?

I'll bet we start to get an indication of things when we see attendance today. Some seemingly healthy guys won't be there, and it's probably because they've been cut but it hasn't been officially processed yet.

On the other hand, it'd be better to hang on to some guys while they sort out some of the injuries. Meyers and Montgomery come to mind. If they want to see them on the field after they left the game on Friday, it makes sense to hang on to guys like Kevin Harris, JJ Taylor, Nixon, Humphrey, etc until they know how those guys look.

Yea they typically wack players they KNOW they don't want a day or two before so they can a) sign someone they like ASAP, b) play musical chairs with the people they like but want to sneak to PQ or back on the roster and c) give the kid a chance to catch on somewhere else.

Yeah, good point. I was wondering if they do it all at once or a little at a time. I remember names starting to trickle in a day before though.

Tua is a mental and physical midget. His 50 yards passing that he has averaged against the Patriots in his career and the 50 yards he will pass for in week 1, won't matter.
Since accuracy takes a backseat in your delusional, allow me to take 30 seconds of effort to research and post Tua's stats vs NE
Combined:
51-75 (68%)
451 yds (150 yds/gm)
2 TD/2 INT
Mia Offense: 72 pts (24 pts/gm) [NE offense: 17 pts/gm]
Record: 3-0
If the Patriots lose this game, it will be because it's just an extension of the preseason.
Was NE's week 18 loss vs MIA because NE had 21 game preseason in '21?

I literally spit my water all over my keyboard looking at Tua's career stats vs NE as I started to laugh uncontrollably. Thanks a lot, you jerk.

Basically, yes. We had already clinched a playoff berth. There wasn't much to play for. The division certainly wasn't on the line, since Buffalo was playing an actual minor league team that week. Also, Flores owned us, as most ex-Patriots coaches do.

Tua's accuracy is fine. Career 66.2% passer. 67.8% last year. And this year he's now got Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson, and Mike Gesecki to throw to, and all of them are either good or REALLY frigging good.

Tua should put up pretty good numbers this year.

We need a massive improvement in these next two weeks or we’re getting our asses kicked.

Tua sucks.
It's a real possibility that Tua has a better season than Mac. Tua has a better supporting cast and his o-line is probably better. If Flores was still there then I would be predicting a sweep for the Dolphins. But who knows if their rookie head coach doesn't screw things up. I am pretty sure the Patriots pass coverage will be rather shaky against Hill and Waddle, Gesicki, and the receiving backs. Given the apparent state of our offense currently, Mac probably won't be able to keep pace with Tua in week 1.

If the Patriots lose this game, it will be because it's just an extension of the preseason. They will **** around for the first 4 weeks, experimenting with more zone blocking against actual starters to see if they can make it a bigger part of the offense going forward.

Dynasties only start trying from October on.
One problem with your theory... the team has sucked in December and January. Their worst two months for three seasons now... 6-11. Not sure if you've looked at the schedule, but they had better not be "****ing around for the first 4 weeks" because they will be 0-4 and their schedule is a monster from Thanksgiving on... Buffalo twice, @Minnesota, Arizona and Las Vegas, and a home matchup with Cincinnati. Yikes.

We need to add some context:

2019: Horrendous QB play down the stretch, no receivers outside of Edelman, old defense
2020: throwaway year
2021: rebuild year

This year is much different than all previous 3. Mac Jones in year 2 will give us vastly superior QB play than what we've had in those 3 seasons. Our receiving corps is drastically improved. In fact, we are stacked at virtually every position.

They will absolutely **** around, and it won't matter.

I'm also not impressed with a single team you listed there.

only a win against a division opponent team

you say we are stacked at every position but you are not impressed with cincy and las vegas haha ok, so i guess you are not impressed with our roster too

20-0. Next year too so that will make it 40-0.

Easy peasy.

Wonder if Miamis Offense will use similar run schemes that SF uses

This game looks like an ugly trainwreck for the pats. Wish i could bet on miami. This could set a nasty tone for the season. No offensive coordinator and a horrible ol. Belichick is almost trolling kraft now.
You should find a different hobby.

Some Miami content

Gotta admit, don't feel good at all about this game. Guessing Dolphins 27, Patriots 17. I think we will have trouble with protection and Dolphins will do enough on offense to pull away.

Opening loss at Miami last year was costly...we would have won the division and possibly the 1 seed.
Opener was at home, and Pats had a great chance for the win if not for the darn DHarris fumble with 3:35 left at the MIA 9. Ugh.
