What is your confidence of the Offensive play calling before start of season?

Big fat ZERO in the confidence department.
Forget drugs & motivation, you need to break down the b.s. which infected you growing up.

And yeah, you ARE entitled to hook up with that super hot girl you saw at Walmart.

...not that I have any experience with that...

Personally I'm not too worried about the play calling. Play calling is massively overrated. What matters is play design and can you recognize a weakness you can exploit when you see it. Of course that doesn't mean there isn't such thing as bad play calling, but that tends to fall under the don't be stupid/predictable while also playing to your strengths.

Anyone who learns a certain degree about football has the ability to be a good player caller or a bad one. And it has nothing to do with not having enough knowledge of the game. More knowledge of a game doesn't equal better play calling.

Here is what a well called game looks like.

1st drive/quarter - Have an entire series of 15 plays planned (10 plays you think will work against who your playing with 5 contingencies for down and distance situations if something negative happens). All and all these first 10 plays should result in a score while also testing your opponent's ability to defend your players while they do different things. How do DLs do when my guys block them like this? How about a stretch run? Can this WR beat the CB on a double move we think he will bite on? Can he handle the bump at the line that my guy is good at? Ect...

This is not just a random smattering of things you throw against the wall, but a test of hypothosis you have from watching them on film and knowing what your guys can do.

After that you take that information and quickly review it to see what you think will work or won't work. Make a note of it. Then you mark other plays you have you think should work based on this information and keep them ready to go if certain situations pop up where they can be effective. Again, this should all be set up pregame.

So if play 4 in my first sequence confirms to me there is a match up I can exploit. I have have 3 other plays that exploit a similar match up if certain situations where they make sense pop up. Something like that.

Of course you refine this as you go and are always looking to see if you can find something else you like. As well as determine if it is something you can bleed them on over and over again (like an undersized DL you can push around) or if it is something you can only hit them with once (a CB who bites on a certain route or who isn't quick enough to keep up with WR X if he does a hitch and go. But they D will give him help if you try to do it too often).

After that is it all about not being too predictable or getting too cute while playing to your general strengths and against their general weakness.

This is all play calling is in the NFL. It's that simple. It's just how good can you do it. Some people are bad at it cause they call scared, or they want to play a certain style that isn't ideal for their players or the match ups. Or they get too cute with throwing too many concepts at their guys so that they can't execute any of them well. Or they take too many risk/shots instead of moving the chains. Or they get so focused on managing down and distance they let opportunities go by they shouldn't and drive stall anyone cause you are being over dependent on small ball. Ect..

I'll be brief and succinct.

This team will win its 7th Lombardi trophy. I don't see a single team that can challenge us this season.

Hopefully that short statement is a sufficient description of my level of confidence. If not, I'll be more than glad to expound upon it.
Now you're talking

I'm sure everyone on this board is an expert on offensive game-planning and play-calling to the point of being in a position to critique Patricia.
I never want to hear about this subject again.

I really want Mac to STFU about the OC and play calling. When the media asks him, he should just say, "I don't call the plays, I just execute them. Next question..."

Weis could do it. Knew when to run the ball.

So did Grogan, who spread the ball around and got all his receivers involved. Like Brady.

Did they name a flag football trophy after Mike Lombardi or something?

May you have the last laugh my friend! It beats the hell out of "groannnnn we will be 4-13 we'lll never makkkkke it" and or the classic

I will never be a homer clown like Andy "Ring 6" Johnson.
You say that like it’s a bad thing to be positive about the team you (supposedly) root for.

Obviously you must have been watching video from a prior year, or smoking the
Wacky Tobacky.

The OL has been terrible & although our 1st round pick looks athletic, I have yet to see him look good “actually blocking”.

I guess when you draft a 3rd round prospect in round#1, we need to wait for
Him to learn to block

Either wait for him to learn to block, or buy a new pair of eyeglasses

We all saw how it worked.
Did we? Which plays are you referring to? What are you expecting?
Stevenson ran 5 times for 4.4 per carry. Is that bad?
The rbs overall ran 15 times for 91 yard which is 6.1 per carry. Is that bad?

Saying the OL has performed poorly in camp & preseason is facing reality.

Saying anything else is nothing but wishful thinking.

Feel free to post a few articles praising the OL performance to give your review some merit.

I won’t hold my breath
So you are not going ti identify the plays.
Is 4.4 per carry good?
How about 6.1?
I watch the game and see what happens, I don’t need someone to write an article to tell me what they think.

Im not going call the product on the field chicken salad when it is chicken 5hit.

So last year when the offense scored the 6th most points and had one of the top few most productive offenses ever with a rookie QB, that was chicken shlt?
And Legarm Newton bouncing 8 yard passes 3 yards in front of the receiver was the bomb.
Rule of thumb to follow, whatever Trumph says just go with the opposite and you will be right.

By the way is 4.4 yard so per rush chicken shlt? Is 6.1?

I think there was similar disappointment for Cowboys fans when they lost to the Lions in the playoffs in 1992 [38-6], as we've had after a less than successful game in Buffalo to end last year.

So Aikman, Smith & Irvin stink and the team is going nowhere...

I'll take how things turned out for them.

A lot of the change the team has made has been to match up with Buffalo better.
Remove those matchups and things look very different.

Our 1st team vs the Raiders backups???
We still lost !

Still waiting for you to post an article or view from any media source saying anything good about the Pats OL during camp or the preseason….
