I could probably get my dog to understand this easier, and my dog is an idiot.

He went through the process of trying to get a mutli year deal for 3 straight negotiations. He couldn't get it. Pretty clear that BB was never going to give it to him. So for the 2019 contract he got the out clause and at that point knew there was close to 0% chance he'd be a Patriot in 2020. He didn't need to give the Pats the chance to match the Bucs offer as they had 3 straight years to give him that deal. Kraft and BB chose not to. Plain and simple.
And your dog is clearly smarter than you.

The argument to you was IF HE WANTED TO STAY he would have let the patriots match.

You, after evidently consulting your dog, responded with reasons he didn’t want to stay.

You aren’t too good with this English stuff are you?

2 years and 50 million vs 2 years and 50 million is literally by definition in the English language THE SAME MONEY.
NOT WHEN ONE IS GUARANTEED AND THE OTHER ISN'T !!!

This is a pathetic attempt at understanding contracts. Lets use an example. Revis signed here in 2014, the contract was 2years 32 million dollars. How much of that was made and how long did he play here for? 32=32 right?
In what universe is “they offered the same money” an exercise in understanding contracts, terms, guarantees etc?
You can just say you were wrong. The roof won’t cave in. It’s ok. You don’t need to do mental gymnastics to turn 2+2=4 into 2+2=3 by creating alternative realities.

I did not say they offered the same terms, the same guarantees, the same locker room space, whirlpool access, or social media restrictions. I said the money was the same.
You must have something better to do than this.

What a load of BS. He had been negotiating with them for a new deal each year from 2017 on. He had always wanted the multi-year commitment. Kraft and BB knew that and never gave it to him. So now after 3 contract negotiations where he couldn't get a multi-year deal he was supposed to go back to them and say "hey, it's a multi year deal I got from the Bucs". The Pats had 3 years to do it and didn't. Then when he leaves they try to save face and tell the fans "well, he didn't come to us to match".
The logical fallacy that runs rampant thru every anti-Patriot post in this thread is "they didn't want him".

It is clearly evident that they wanted him to stay on their terms. Which was on 1 year deals. That's not the same thing as "not wanting him". However, the Patriots contract terms have been conflated to mean just that. And as much as I loathe typing these words, Andy is right. They didn't know how much longer he could remain at the top of his game as it has never been done before

The closest the Patriots came was in 2018 when they offered a two year deal, with the 2nd year as a team option. That was laid out by Tom Curran, and is easily verified. Instead he redid the deal as a 1 year contract, and got his no tag clause added.

What is also easily fact checked was he did not allow the Patriots a chance to match whatever offers were made to him, as was his right as a free agent - and I'm specifically referring to the Bucks offer here because I don't know if anyone else made him offers.

And nothing ameliorates what he did by negotiating with the dolphins for all of 2019 ... That is just terrible. Guys evicerate parcels for doing it with the jete... Yet Brady deserves a pass? F that. Sh I tty behavior is sh I tty behavior.

Not sure if it's really the years he wanted as much as the guaranteed $. Prob both as they kinda go hand in hand in most cases.

Howe said in the summer of 2019 the team made a 2/53 offer and Tom turned it down.

Schefter said before 2020 FA Bill gave Tom a take it or leave it offer which was less than the $23m he made in 2019 b/c of the $13.5 dead cap hit residue from the dummy years.

I've never been able to find details on the guaranteed $ offers but clearly it wasn't acceptable to Tom - which is his right.

It’s the same money.
It may not be the same contract ( we don’t know what the patriots guarantees were) but it’s the same money.

And again did Brady expect he would be cut in 2020?

this is a sidestep of epic proportions. Honestly, this is a sad attempt. Money is the same whether you get it or not I guess lmao. You just backpedaled into oblivion

1 team offered 50 million inserted into his bank account today...Did the other?

This thread has sure gone down the rabbit hole.

My Lord man! The time was clearly up on whether he wanted to stay. He had made it crystal clear that he wanted to play until he was 45. He said it publicly many times that he wanted to keep playing. By asking for a multi year deal for 3 straight years that's pretty telling that HE WANTED TO STAY. After 3 years of trying to get a multi year deal out of the Pats he knew in order to get a multi year deal he had to look elsewhere. That is on the Pats, not on Brady. They knew all it would take to keep him a Patriot was the Brees deal and he never got it. That's on BB and Kraft.

He expected that the exact same thing would happen after the last 2 contracts he had signed: after 1 year the Pats would void the deal and he'd have to renegotiate. The 2nd years were always dummy years for cap purposes.

Google Brady goes to krafts house.
Ill offer you 50 million dollars to show me a report with the contract offer. 50 mil is 50 mil right?

Do we know for a fact MIA initiated the discussions? We know Ross and Beal were running point for the Lolphins.

In the end it doesn't matter but it would show Tom's level of conviction and urgency to get out of Dodge
Not sure who initiated but sounds like the other party was receptive. Both parties look bad.

Are you dense?
But if you can prove to me you have 50 million to back that up
it would be worth my time. You can pm me your bank statement.

In any event, seems you are still struggling with the English thing.

The Patriots offer 2 years 53 mill (documented) Brady said nah.
The patriots offer to do whatever it takes and match whatever offer Brady gets on the market. Brady says nah.
Brady signs with Tampa without giving the patriots a chance to match and you are asking for proof of the contract offer matching, the one Brady said he didn’t want to get.

From PFT Today.

Then there’s the Bruce Beal factor. The partner of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has an option to buy the team whenever Ross decides to sell it. Some believe Ross may decide to sell much sooner than later, with Beal buying the team and selling a sliver of it to Brady.”

Beal and Brady are close friends. Beal was the primary conduit when the Dolphins tampered with Brady while he played for the Patriots.

And Beal could be the reason it all blew up. As one league source told PFT, Beal had been telling his friends in New York City for more than a year about his efforts to bring Brady to the Dolphins. At a time when plenty of teams aren’t discreet about tampering, Beal most definitely was not.

For Brady, there’s no violation of the rules. No player can be disciplined for being tampered with. But he can be criticized by fans and media for it.

So his good buddy Beal was trying year after year to get Brady to the Phins. I wonder at what point was he telling Brady that eventually partial ownership could be on the table for him? Not to excuse Brady as he shouldn't of had those discussions but ownership had to be real tempting.

After 3 years of trying to get a multi year contract to stay, in which the Patriots didn't want, he decided to move on. Pretty clear right?

You have yet to show me the contract they put in his face that matches...They were willing, based on hindsight...Didnt do it for 3 years though. Your POV is guessing what you think would have happened. I have provided evidence as to what we know happened. They offered a 2/53 deal, which didnt disclose guarantees...which meant it was a 1 year deal with a voidable year...Looks nice to the casuals though.

Both teams offered 50 million for 2 years.
That is what i said. You are arguing I says something different. Why?
Your inferiority complex is causing you to act like a child.
