Who is going to be the 2022/23 breakout Patriot?

This isn't last year.

Anything can happen.

I think whoever develops best, and is playing well in Dec/Jan will be there at the end. Last year, it was Cincy.

The Patriots have a shot.
Of course the Pats do, but implying that theyre equal or better than the Bills is unfounded optimism.

NE has to go out there and prove it and the proving will require better QB play from Jones.

He meant to say the "the training wheels are coming off this year"
I was confused at first but then realized what he was trying to say. My “Defend Mac at all costs” itchy trigger finger almost sprung into action. Haha.

Branch was good and Givens was good. Neither was great.

Edelman was a QB who took years to develop.
Deion Branch was great, that’s what priced him out of New England. He would have been great longer but suffered a knee injury there was no coming back from.

Edelman caught 37 passes as a rookie then got caught in a roster crunch behind Branch, Welker, Hernandez, Gronk, Lloyd and Moss.

Branch was not great. Never had a 1000 yard and 10 TD season in NE. Definitely not a HOF mention.

Edelman was not a WR when drafted. I do not want to see Thornton the WR have a fair rookie season and then disappear for the following 2 seasons like Edelman. Belichick said that he isnt coaching in his 90's.

Saying the Pats drafted Edelman to play QB is nonsense, he was listed as a WR from day one on their roster. This is a roundabout way for you to whine how they don’t draft WR’s well. Bruschi was a DE in college, Steve Neal was a wrestler… the team had a clear plan for all these guys even if they didn’t know it would work.

Branch played with Brady from 2002-2005… he didn’t get to play with Brady at the height of his powers, when he was the highest paid player in the league and had full command of the offense. Pretending Branch and Welker/Edelman’s situations are anywhere near similar is absurd.

Branch in his prime was uncoverable, he was a great slot WR, he was the Super Bowl MVP and has two rings on his fist. Your entire schtick here is to tell us how everything Patriots sucks… nobody’s fooled.

Edelman was NOT a WR when drafted.

Dreamed up Homer excuses and spin wont change a thing.

Edelman converted to WR on draft day.
Bullsht excuses for why BB doesn’t receive credit for drafting Edelman are exactly that… whining from the haters.

It's going to be a tie between Perkins and McGrone. Not sure Barmore qualifies, as he had a solid rookie year, but he will get more playing time and could really have a break out season.

Stevenson. I love the battering ram type runners, and this kid has the power to level defenders. A bit of a Kevin Faulk transition when it comes ot ball control and he can be a staple for many years. I am hoping to see him get his 1K @ 4.5/carry.
The early fumbling 'issue' coincided with an injured thumb, iirc? I don't think his pt was cut due to being in the 'dog house' so much that they just wanted him to get healthy. He's our most talented back since Robert Edwards (thanks pro bowl!) or Clock Killin' Corey Dillon (and we have Rham during his prime). Our RBBC group should rival the NYG "Earth, Wind and Fire" trio. Harris + Rham, then the draftee burner? The offense should be fun to watch this year.

It's the defense that scares me.

1000 percent agree with this and whoever can get pressure opposite Judon.

Guys listen to Woosie. He's an expert analyst of Pats WRs. Look at this dead balls accurate take on a thriving Pats WR. Dude is a master.

I agree; our toughest competition in the division is in Buffalo.

But the Dolphins have had recent success against us; and we're always the Jets' Super Bowl.

So now you’re chasing me around every thread since I stopped playing in your N’Keal whining thread?

Oh yeah and posting a thought of mine from before N’Keal’s sophomore season began… I never claimed I wasn’t optimistic about Harry.

What a joke you are. How about you post your comments about how bad Harry was going to be from before the 2019 draft so we can see how amazing your draft analysis is?

Oh wait, you only wait until after the Pats draft someone, sht on the pick... then if they succeed you slink away and never admit how wrong you were.

Edelman was a QB who took years to develop.
I loved Branch and Givens, but I get what you're saying that the bar isn't that high in terms of statistics that it would take for a WR to be the best ever drafted. Edelman stats were pretty mediocre as a #1 WR.
Deion Branch was great, that’s what priced him out of New England.
He was the classic overpay for a guy on a Super Bowl winning teams. I loved Branch, but he was being unreasonable. His stats among the league's best were very mediocre during his time in NE.
Bruschi was a DE in college, Steve Neal was a wrestler… the team had a clear plan for all these guys even if they didn’t know it would work.
Yep.
Branch in his prime was uncoverable,
I wouldn't go that far, but he always made the most of his opportunities. Him and Givens were clutch players.
he was a great slot WR,
He was an outside guy along with Givens and Patton. Troy Brown was the main slot guy.

Edelman had said he knew he wasn't going to play QB in the NFL so he learned multiple positions including WR and DB leading up to the draft.

On the same ferry to Nantucket with the GOAT coach and GM.

He looks very relaxed. Man of the people. Do you think that Tommy would ever travel like this?

I told him that I would continue to defend his honor and his track record with logic and facts, against the biased negativity of douche canoes like The Captain, Venecol and Triumph. He shook his head with distain and replied “Those c*nts need to get laid in the worst way”. I nodded in agreement and we had a good laugh.

Without Bill we'd be lucky to have 1-2 super bowls...

Coach just chillin', blending in.

Looks the same as he will in Glendale on February 12 after we win again.

Edelman stats were pretty mediocre as a #1 WR
But when you needed the situational win whether a late 3d down to drain the clock with a slim lead, a second and long down 3 points, a must have it TD...who made that play over and over and over? Edelman did - whether he was statistically a "#1 WR" or not.

Which is more important - the designation #1 WR and the total regular season statistics and massive cap hit that go with it or the player that consistently makes game winning plays? I've never understood this line of thinking and probably never will. I just have a different mindset centered on team play, role execution, and clutch performance.

I'll take clutch guys all day long over the "#1" designation at any position. Bruschi...Brown...Hightower...and there are other Patriots who NEVER put up "best in the league" stats to gain the "#1" career moniker, but if you needed a stop or a sack or a catch in the situation that won or lost the game - those guys made it more times than they didn't.
