and this team that the talent to be 13-4 is SO MUCH, MUCH worse that we are below average in OFF and DEF, and won't be in the playoffs???

Man, you & R6 can be really obtuse at times...

You're not fool enough to believe that wins and losses, without context, paint a complete picture. And his original post was talking about today, and commenting on the context of last year's wins.

Yes I believe that as of today we are average/below-average on both offense and defense.

I also believe that some points matter more than others.

That 7-game winning streak, and thereby the statistics accumulated during it, was a Mirage. Period.

And, citing to the Parcells line, as if the Patriots were a legit 7-0 team during that stretch, leads to the obvious followup, which is that they were also a legit 3-8 team outside of it. After all, they were what their record said they were.

Was just going to say maybe he shouldn’t. Cam Newton and Harry were the last two.

Avoid 17 while we're at it. At this point, between the cursed numbers and numbers of guys we don't want to disrespect, he's going to have to wear 00 or something.

Glad someone brought 17 up: Patriots purgatory.

I wonder how the offense will evolve from last season now that Parker was brought in as the presumptive WR1. In order for all their offensive pieces to contribute Mac is going to need to throw the ball a lot more than he did last season.

I wonder if this trade signals a more pass happy offense in Mac's second year or a similar offense to last year that plays with tempo so they can get off more plays. Jonnu Smith, Agholor, Parker, and White will all expect increased touches compared to last year and I'm not sure if there will be enough opportunities to go around. Agholor for a pick on draft day might make sense.

On Agholor being traded lets just say easier said than done his cap # is kinda high.

As the offseason isnt complete, I hesitate to guess. The draft and UDFAs paired with pre-camp signings will greatly alter the current roster. Add in injuries, retirements, and unexpected cuts and suddenly the variables outnumber the known data points.

As far as how Parker will be used? Think Brandon Lafell and Brandon Lloyd as a couple recent examples if I were to guess.

So they were a legit 10-0 team in days they won and a legit 0-8 team in days they lost.

My initial reaction is that I'd hope for more production than those two, but both had 70+ catch, 900+ yards and 4+ TD seasons for the Patriots so I guess those numbers wouldn't be bad numbers for Parker, especially if he misses games (which is likely).

1) WR's get injured.

2) I'd rather have Agholor.

3) The underlying reason folks want to dump Agholor is that they are afraid that he will take reps from Myers.

4) Parker, Agholor, Bourne, Myers and a learning rookie is fine for 2022 and into the future.

5) Hopefully, either Myers or Agholor will be extended and we will fine for 2023.

BOTTOM LINE
Belichick will hopefully draft a WR in the 2nd-4th. WR will no longer be a WR weakness and disaster for 2023 (only Bourne signed).

But yes, I could see Agholor getting traded and the team counting on a rookie as a backup.

Do you mean that the catches will be great and the YACs close to zero?

Find me one post from anyone on any platform that suggests someone actually believes this.

I see a common sentiment around here that Meyers' role should be reduced/eliminated, and it doesn't particularly matter which other player takes those snaps over. I'll agree with that when the alternatives on the roster actually start to outplay him. Right now, it's hard to trust anyone on the roster besides Meyers and Bourne. Parker and Agholor could absolutely assert themselves into getting the most snaps of any WR, but based on 2021 production, they aren't locks for the top roles. I'll believe it when I see it.

Does this mean I think Agholor should be gone ASAP? No. Actually, I think it's a pretty bad idea to do that because he'll probably contribute more than a late round pick worth of value this year. That issue really should have nothing to do with Meyers or his playing time.

Yes, if you are what your record says you are. And the Patriots finished 1-4, and were a team that couldn't even force a punt in 20% of those games.

Agholor as a #1, in his 1st year in the system, with a rookie QB, was bound to suffer. The good takeaways from last season are that he showed good hands, good speed, seemed to be a good fit on the team. How many times did Mac not even see him when he open downfield?

Agholor as a #2, in his 2nd year in the system, with a sophomore QB, is going to excel this year. Parker/Agholor/Bourne, with Meyers rotating in and in spread formations, together with Henry, are going to be tough to stop - assuming:
a. Mac continues his development, which he should
b. we find a good Guard, which we should
c. Onwenu returns to form and that Brown stays healthy, which I'm hopeful for
d. and that therefore the run game continues to excel and even improve, which it should.
