NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION AFCCG: Bengals at Chiefs

Joe Burrow is the closest QB to Brady. He’ll throw inside slants with the game on the line and lives on those tight window throws at the first down marker. Everyone said it when he was at LSU, and it’s true. The AFC is a powerhouse of young QBs now.
It’s funny you say that. While watching Burrow in his NCAA Championship season, I told several people, that he reminded me of Brady (but can run). He’s always been so calm and cool, but with a killer instinct. There’s another Joe Cool going to the SB. I hope they win it all, very likable team. Plus it would be their 1st. Their team reminds me of the 2001 Pats, except much more talented on offense (2001 Pats way more talented on D). But they win games ugly, win games by 3 points, with a CLUTCH kicker. Sound familiar ?

That is ridiculous. It’s like starting a “is Flacco better than Brady” that one year he thought he was elite !

I mean, I like Burrow. I think he’ll be VG. But, let’s ease off !

Sure - it’s ridiculous to overreact to one game, but Burrow’s style makes him a lot like Brady. All those fearless 8-12 yard lasers into tight windows…that’s what no one does in postseason crunch time except Brady. Guys aren’t open, but he throws them open. It takes balls and skill to do that. Mahomes wouldn’t take that pass…he has them available, but instead he scrambles around or looks for the huge athleticism advantage downfield. I’ve said all year Mahomes has struggled (often by not attempting) on the tight, mid-range throws that he’ll need deep in the playoffs. That’s exactly what happened today.

Today. Yes. I’m still very bullish on Mahomes going forward.

Umm. Is that Madame Mahomes ? Oof. If so : She should take advice and leave social media…
I would assume it's his PR team. They probably had a post prepared win or lose. His mother and his girlfriend should start making excuses and blaming the refs any second now. They are so classy.

Sure…and everyone should be. He’s a great QB. He also has a pretty big weakness. He can’t play as a quick release pocket quarterback other than on scripted plays. As such, he puts a ton of strain on the line and tries to improv too often. Things are awesome when they’re going well. It gets ugly when that stuff isn’t working.

As a fan you always expect your team to win. Especially games against teams like Cincinnati.

This has to be the biggest AFC title game upset since 2001. Might be the biggest.

Regardless, it hurts to see a team you put so much into lose like this. Times like these I wanna just go outside and cry. But I can't because no football game should control my life.

Mahomes choked.

Yeah he sucked.

This is on him. Not Reid.

But it happens.

He's still a great player.

He will rebound.

But this team absolutely needs to think about a 3rd option after Kelce & Hill. You can't rely on two guys forever.

There are never any guarantees in life. And I thought Cincinnati would be a cake walk.
I hate the Chiefs, because of their arrogance, players talking about Dynasties and media ass kissing Mahomes like he’s the GOAT, he has a way to go, but you’re a solid fan. Just a reminder, Brady went 10 years between SB wins. Including losing 2 to the Giants, and several AFCCGs. Never give up, EVERY team in the league would love to have Mahomes, he just had a bad 2nd half. Happens to all the greats. And he is a great, no doubt.

Yup.

Though I do think the difference between Burrow and Mahomes will be smaller than Flacco and Brady.

Question for you: do you think Mahomes' little brother and fiancee ... um, girlfriend ... er, convenience female ... are angry with him tonight? What are they going to do with all the party plans and reservations made for Los Angeles in two weeks? All the friends they made on social media will be SO disappointed! I'll bet they're going to tear Kermit a new one that will make losing to Cincy seem like child's play.

As am I.

But he needs to reevaluate some things about his play.

This season has shown some weaknesses. Albeit they are correctable.

To use a baseball term, sometimes Mahomes is looking to hit a 500 foot grand slam. When a single will do.

Yes. Good analogy. But he’s what, 25 ? With a ring & two SBs visits ?

Don’t really know why some posters here are giving you such a hard time.

I remember the SB that shouldn’t be mentioned. Talk about an ouchie. Oof.

Honestly I couldn't possibly care less about either of those two.

They are attention whores. Mahomes needs to tell them to F Off and stop acting like children.

For instance, why are you spraying a bottle of champagne after a 2nd round win? Karma will always come back to you.

Why is Mahomes brother going on the field in opposing stadiums? He's asking for it.

Regardless, I don't care about either.
