OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Manning's SB runs mean something and he should go in just like JE11 should go in. Rivers and Stafford have done nothing. Ryan has an MVP and a Superbowl appearance. Being the best in the league for at least a season should be a mandatory unless you have godlike moments in the playoffs.
As VectorPrime said, Eli will get because he is a Manning and a Giant.

But other than that, I suppose you're right. The voters tend to look at regular season stats, longetivity and awards. On that basis, it's not bad but not enough. Then they look at playoffs, and that puts Eli in the HOF.

For Edelman, longetivity is OK, stats is not enough, and no awards. The voters barely consider playoff performance if the regular season don't meet their minimum standard. Thus, unfortunately Edelman is not getting in.

I have no issue with Eli getting in. His 2 SBs vs the best franchise in NFL history is more than enough. To me the HoF is all about impact vs gaudy stats. Eli was an impact player much more so than his older brother.

So let's say Tom retires after the coming season. Flash fwd to his HOF season and Eli who missed selection his first years gets picked along with Tom.

You know that would be so appropriate in a hellish way. Peyton would be the biggest loser that night.

After some pondering, I am certain that Brady will come back to play one more season as long as he gets more of a say and Bucs are all in.

The 1st two picks of Tryon and Trask weren't Brady picks and did nothing to help for their playoff run. They were picks for down the future.

In addition to trying to get Godwin back, I think Cordarelle Paterson is intriguing.
Also Braxton Berrios looked good when he played against the Bucs. He looked like Welker.

Brady said he was asked about the Trask pick ahead of time and he was cool with it. Maybe he’s lying who knows but it clearly wasn’t taken as a Jimmy G insult.

Tyron was an impact player all season especially with JPP being injured. IMO, that was the best pick of the draft for them. Kid is a beast.
I did not mind the Trask pick only because they literally have nothing behind Brady who is 44 and now with Brady mulling retirement that is looking like a great pick for them.

It wasn't an insult because the GM didn't say "given the age and contract status of our starting QB, we wanted to be early at the position."

Well also that Brady knew he wasn’t playing another 4 years regardless.

The other thing is I believe the Trask pick was positioned to Brady as a QB that they wanted Brady to help develop whereas Jimmy was the succession plan.

IMO Brady's kids see their dad more often than the average working stiff. I really don't get where this (woe-is-me) attitude about NYFLers comes from.

Ya I don’t get it either! What he’s gone for 3 days for away games most dads don’t get 6 months vacation

Kind of feels like a Brees situation pre-2020 season, but I doubt Brady will let it linger that long - he will make a decision before FA/draft. Frankly I hope Brady and the Bucs should just try to run it back - if they were luckier on the health front they would've been the favorites to win it this season. They learned their depth kind of sucks so that's an area to shore up but otherwise that roster is well-positioned to sell-out for one more run.

Jason La Confora saying that Brady is going to announce a decision in a matter of days so as to not overshadow super bowl week or hold the Bucs in limbo which to me feels like that it’s over.

This is pretty infuriating if he does retire as it will totally overshadow the super bowl. He can tell the bucs now and hold the announcement for a couple of weeks after the super bowl to not take away from the two participants.

If he tells the Bucs it will be leaked in 15 seconds.
It's pretty clear that this was his last season so he totally could have announced it this past week. This whole notion that he needed time to make the decision was just a cover. The timing of this is terrible in my opinion and really just adds fuel to the fire that he does like to make everything about him at times.

Looks like retirement if this is true

He announces this past Monday there is no air for the conference championship games. But if he announces this coming Monday it’s two weeks to the Super Bowl and it’s always the second week that people actually count as part of the game. That first week is basically dead air past Monday usually.
