BS. Just plain BS. Did Bill give his kids a help in getting in the door. Sure he did. But you seem to ignore the obvious by selective memory. Steve's rise in the organization came with EVERY chance to fail. He didn't just appear on the Pats sideline one day. He spend 4 full seasons as a coaching assistant learning everything from breaking down film to getting the coffee. At every step between being gofer and a position coach, he has had to be able to DO the job. He had to gain the respect of the players as well as his dad. He has had to follow the same path as McDaniels, Patricia, Flores, etc.
And, after following BB for the past 20 years, do you REALLY honestly believe that if Steve didn't have an aptitude to coach in the NFL, he'd have a job here?? He's been doing this for NINE freakin' years. THis hasn't been a meteoric rise. This has been more like like a long trek that has many more miles to go. In every area he's taken from coaching DB's to LB's he's HAD success. Now he's calling the defensive play calls. It's not a huge responsibility since whatever is called will often be changed by a formation, motion, or personnel grouping. This is still a cooperative group effort to coordinate the defense.
He's an easy target for those here looking for low hanging fruit. Kind of sad, but understandable. There ARE some very lazy people here.
