OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Aaron said he's made a decision on Brown and Edwards but he won't announce it till Monday because he doesn't want it to be a distraction for the game. Both players were seen working out at the facility alone. Florio thinks the bucs may put Brown on ice for the rest of the year so he won't earn his incentives. To me that seems kind of dumb as they need him in shape for the postseason.

Florio knows jack sh.it. But BA might be that dumb.

If they 'ice him' they are no better than anyone else implementing half measures. To me he has been punished and served his time. However, if for some reason they won't let him play then do it for all games including playoffs. I think it's a ridiculous notion but sitting him for the regular season is basically another PR stunt.

He was suspended heavily and served his time I'm not sure why the press is pushing for this simply because Arians said some BS line last year about 1 chance. He doesn't want to cut him and this is more of the same media games.

They're not gonna get cut.

Odds a week ago were Brown -550 to remain on the team. That’s 85% or so. They should ask Early Bird Bob how releasing AB worked out for him.

I’m concerned about his ankle. Sounds like a bad injury.

Arians was clearly just responding to the questions. What else can he say?

I agree. What I would like to know is what is the breakdown of all these positive cases between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated?

I think this is a really important question if they going to ask these players to get the booster. If for whatever reason the vaccinated are more susceptible to the new variant then this is a complete disaster. And the league has to really reconsider it's push for the booster as it could potentially cause more issues with the variant.

Both the Cleveland coach and Payton had Covid last year and both are fully vaccinated. To me that is very concerning if the league thinks it can get a handle on this by adding another shot or even increased protocols.

In other words there could be something much bigger at play here that we haven't even figured out yet.

We know that the "vaccines" don't stop/prevent people from getting infected, and we also know that they don't stop transmission by the vaccinated. Furthermore, if you're asymptomatic, you're asymptomatic regardless of vaccination status. So there's no reason to have a two-tiered system. That system is, and always has been, just a punitive system designed to force vaccinations without actually forcing the vaccinations.

Who's Aaron?

AB isn't making his incentives anyway, too many games missed. The Bucs should be happy to pay for any post season incentives he does make.

Honestly expect the injury is more Achilles but maybe it’s just me.

Do you work for a sportsbook? Lol

No, I just like to go with the professionals who make lines for a living and often have insider info, rather than the radio show hosts and rabble rousers on Twitter who just want clicks.

I think that's a good way to look at it so long as you keep in mind that they also move numbers based on how the monkeys are going to wager their money. I'm sure you know alot more about it than I do though.

On AB and Mike Edwards.

Reporter: Will there be any kind of team imposed fine or suspension just to make sure the message is sent especially with covid outbreaks that have been happening in the NFL?
BA: No

Not that much more than you. It’s true that lines ideally get action on both sides, but the reality is most lines and prop bets get unbalanced betting. So they’re set moreso to reflect the reality of the outcome than simply as an attempt to capture perception. If they set lines based only on what they see the public doing, sharp bettors would kill them with million dollar wagers.

But overall, I just like to gauge a baseline from an objective source.

Like, taking Brady’s MVP odds, I’m not suggesting his odds are a perfect 63.75% or whatever the books say, but I’m absolutely thinking that he’s likely to win the award, and the opinion of bookmakers whose job it is to research the precedent of the award, base the prediction on past winners, and avoid any type of recency bias or hype, are going to be a lot closer to the truth than pundits who might believe Brady and Rodgers are neck in neck because their MVP award voting understanding is likely rife with ignorance and assumptions, in addition to all the personal bias, hot takes, etc.

Looks like they might have to reschedule games and I think it's best that they do so. You can't play a whole season and then fail to make the playoffs because some test says you can't play even though you feel fine and the people that need to be protected are now going on their 3rd dose. They need to remove testing. Below is a post from another location which sums things up nicely IMO.

This is what happens when you become obsessed with counting cases instead of counting sick people. We’ve seen it in society at large and now the NFL is reaping what it sowed.
Seriously people, at this point in the pandemic, if you are still worried about positive tests, you’re missing the point. Who cares if 10 million people test positive if none of them are sick? We need to shift from a case count mindset to a serious illness/hospitalization mindset. I am not minimizing the seriousness of COVID-19, but we’ve long since passed the point where we know who is at high risk. Let’s stop pretending young, healthy athletes, school children and the like are in grave danger from this, and let’s focus mitigation efforts where they belong on the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions.

BA likes to shot his mouth off. He says and talk too much which makes him sound dumb but he's not dumb. AB will be back and getting his share of opportunities.

Seahawks at Rams, and WFT at Eagles both are now expected to be rescheduled for Tuesday, per sources. If the postponed games had been cancelled, players would not have gotten paid for the week.

In the history of vaccines, very few achieved sterilizing immunity, which is a complete avoidance of infection. When people talk about vaccines like polio, measles, etc. they believe that these vaccines formed a barrier against contracting the virus. In reality, they did not and that is rarely achieved. Vaccines do not prevent infection. Rather, they prevent that infection from progressing to disease and causing major damage.

The difference in perception is the amount of testing with Covid. If people had been tested daily with swabs for polio, there would have been many positive tests that failed to progress beyond an initial, asymptomatic infection. Same with flu shots. People generally still get the flu, but it gets fought off hard and fast. They only report infection if they have symptoms.

This misunderstanding has been a problem for both sides. Pro-vax don’t seem to understand that positive tests don’t necessarily mean high risk and hazmat suits, and anti-vax wrongly believe a positive test proves the vaccine failed to protect.
