OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The Packers have been winning every close game for three years now. They’re 13-4 in games decided by a possession. They’re not a dominant team, but they don’t beat themselves and take care of business against bad teams. Their division is also a ****ing clown show and has been for years. They’re not losing to the Browns or Vikings or some loser pretender team like that. I think they’ll lose to the Ravens. Beyond that, I don’t know…possibly the Rams. Could be their third straight season going 13/14 and 3.

Anyway, I think the WFT loss changes everything for Tampa Bay. Could have survived it if they’d beaten the Saints, but they’ve really screwed themselves. What gets me if the outstanding pass protection and run blocking they’ve had but have still faltered.

I think now they’re better off resting and rehabbing their players for the postseason, hope they’ll get some tomato can in round one, and go from there. I still think they’ll win 12 games or so, but I think they should be extremely cautious with injuries and wear and tear. Limited pitch counts for Gronk, AB, Vea, and the CBs until the playoffs.

If you think that the Bucs are only going to win 12 games then running the table and going 15-2 to get the 1 seed was never in the cards so the last couple loses don’t matter really.

I’m saying they’ll still win 12 if they go into coast mode.

Cowboys could drop another game vs the Chiefs

Rams just lost and look like frauds

GreenBay still do not convince me but they do keep winning.

The #1 seed may just be the Bucs or Greenbay in the end

GB schedule is pretty easy I think they get the #1 seed but Tampa matches up with them assuming everyone’s healthy both teams. On defense GB played themselves not getting Odell Tampa just has to stop and double Adams like last year and force the other guys to beat them. GB won’t be able to run on them as usual so I don’t see them winning a shoot out. Of course Gb defense is legit Alexander can take out Evans but Godwin/AB would feast

So Stafford has already turned into Stafford mid-season. So much for waiting for the post-season to see if being on this loaded team with top coaching would change him.

Lambs revert to the mean. Nice to see ex-Pat Jimmy G do well.
Bruce & Co are regretting not getting some decent DB help in the offseason. If you cannot get off the field, Tommy Boy can't work his magic.

The DBs would have been adequate if not for all the injuries. Although some depth would have been good for sure.

Surprised by the Bucs losses in the last two games. Saints are not the Brees Saints anymore, they're more of a defensive team. The WFT are struggling, their great defense from last year is now close to last in the league. On that last drive we were waiting for Brady to get the ball back and score - and the WFT offense just went down the field and kept converting again and again. You know the Bucs have great talent and missing a few players. There's nothing from the TE game when Gronk is out. Looking at their schedule - the Giants game is not a gimme anymore, they've won 2 of their last 3 games and Saquon is coming back. Then they go to the Colts. Colts can beat anyone even if they're inconsistent. Still have to play the Saints again, Bills, Panthers twice. There's some games here on their schedule where the separation between them and everyone else could get smaller. Still think they'll win the NFC South but can they get their mojo going and follow the script of last year and compete to win it all? That's yet to be determined.

If JG continues to play decent, he will still have an opportunity to be the starter somewhere.

Exactly, Brady played pretty good in the 2nd half but just didn't get enough opportunities. The Bucs D kept on giving up points while taking up so much clock time, that it gave no chance for the O to make a comeback.

Brady looked pissed as it seems to be one of those days where he missed playing for the Pat's. The Pat's D almost always gave Brady a chance to make a comeback and redeem himself after a crappy start.

Bucs are an old team and they are not coached very well. If BB were coaching this squad, they'd be undefeated.

Glad to hear Charlie Weis is knee-jerk hot take artist. The team is having a bad stretch. They’ll be okay. Waving his arms and screaming that the sky is falling doesn’t really do too much.

I cited the numbers about the tight ends recently, and it isn’t good. Brate and Howard have been abysmal. Bucs can’t win throwing the ball 65% of the time when they have only 2 reliable downfield targets. Their defense can’t play much worse. They’ll fix the mistakes and get healthy players back. They’re not as dominant as we expected them to be, but let’s see where they are in January.

Just look at where the Patriots (!), Bucs, Chiefs, Rams, Cardinals, etc. are today in everyone’s “confidence rankings” versus 2-3 weeks ago. It’s a long season.

Brate & Howard have underachieved but are far better than any Pats TEs not Gronk for the last decade since You Know Who. Brady did not have 2 downfield targets that good playing for the last decade with the Pats. Excuses.
You're correct that the problem starts with D ineptitude. We are seeing that an on paper all world DL and fast LBs don't git er done when the DBs are a hot mess. The Bucs euphoric rush to re-sign everyone post SB while ignoring last years luck with a way below par DB squad has come to haunt them. Injuries happen. Depth needed. There's a reason BB stocks up on DBs and invites more in for eval during the season.

Weis is entitled to his opinion but I can't see the Bucs doing anything other than demolishing the Giants and getting right back on track. He's right they'll win the division and I still don't see any team stopping them at full strength. I also think they make a statement and crush the Bills.

Barkley coming back for the Giants makes their offense worse becuase they’re gonna waste one or two downs running into a wall.

Deleted though….

I think the Bucs just may have everyone from AB, Gronk, Sean Murphy Bunting,Scotty Miller,Vita Vea and Carlton Davis JR back by the Bills game!
